1/2 doors

I posted something similar in the 2013 Waiting Room Thread. Long story short, I am trying to order a wrangler unlimited sport with half doors. I have now had three dealers in the Greater Boston area tell me that the doors are not available. So, I tried to call Jeep directly. I got no where. Does anyone have suggestions as to who I might call to make this happen? Is it possible that 1/2 doors have gone the way of the dinosaurs?
Thanks again for help in advance.
I did try to have my dealer call an "area rep" to "unlock" the order code.

John

Not the way of the dinosaur. I bought my jeep from collinbrosjeep.com According to them, the are a PITA for a dealer to get. Chrysler prefers their dealers order larger quantity of 1/2 doors (12 at a time). Look on their website... they ship nation wide and over sea's. www.collinbrosjeep.com click on the 'Jeeps for sale' in the left hand frame. They have about 9 or 10 1/2 door models for sale still...

The kicker, Collins doesn't sell stock Jeeps. Period. (they can't per chrysler becuz they will not become an official "chrysler" dealer, rather they only wanna sell Jeeps. Chrysler apparently agreed to someting unique with them. So all their Jeeps are sold modded up - but they let you pick-n-choose exactly what you want. I'm not a salesman - just a happy customer.

Kinda like ordering a cake

My dealer didn't seem to have an issue ordering half doors with my 2013.

I had the same problem when I ordered mine back in September. I finally decided to go with the full doors and then bought the 2-piece soft doors last week. With the soft doors, I will have the option of, on the spur of the moment, switching from full to half to doorless and vice versa...and just putting the door pieces in the back of the vehicle when out on a trail. In the winter, I have the comfort of the full doors. I finally figured out that I preferred that option rather than the factory half doors that I had on my '03 Rubicon. I never went completely doorless on the '03, but did all the time with my Scrambler and really missed it.

Gone and fondly remembered: '03 Rubicon - Sold 10/31/12
'82 Scrambler purchased new in 1982 - sold in '96

Moabite, what doors did you go with? I have rear factory half doors from my Rescue Green JKU and planned to get fronts eventually, but not sure. I just want the doors to keep myself from getting caught in the rain...again. Are they noisier when both pieces are on? Seal pretty well? I may sell my rear doors rather than paint them "Anvil".

I'm glad I'm not alone.

Damn I love half doors. I hate seeing these threads bumped to the top because I regret my full door decision every time.

As far as I know, Bestop makes the only 2-piece soft doors. They are still in the boxes and won't be installed for at least a month...hopefully around Jeep Safari time at the end of March.

For you guys that have these on 2013's, can you please post the name of the dealer that ordered them from the factory for you? I called Collinsbros. They only sell trucks that are much more modded than I am looking for. I have spoken to many dealers now, it seems that the only way for me to get these doors is to order the parts from Mopar and have them assembled and painted at significant (~$4,000) cost.

Thanks again

John

When I ordered my 2013 i wanted the half doors as well. The dealer told me that he couldn't find a way to order them from the factory. I told him that when building the vehicle on the site it was an option. Finally he said it was only an option in his system on the Rubicon which was what I was trying to order anyway. Seems that the dealers won't order them stock unless you really push for it but i know that it is possible at least on a Rubicon.

AFAIK, they can't order half doors for themselves, but they can order it for you. Are the dealers certain that they are marking it as a SOLD order prior to going through the options?

Have you just tried PM'ing Pat (pat@fieldsauto.com) and seeing what's up? He's got some connection here in MA I think. I'm sure with his help you could figure it out.
