If so I am going to purchase these so I can get those swapped out first thing!

Also should I order the "H4 To H13 Adapters 96630" as well?
Yes. And yes, you need a set of the adapters. Use discount code "lifeisgood5" for a discount.

The actually showed up last night around 10 pm which really puzzled me since I did not know they delivered that late but anyways I will be putting them on tonight. Looking at them out of the package I like them a lot and they don't really stick out as being wheel locks with.

I lived on Cleveland st one block south west of outer drive back in the 80's. I also worked at a machine shop at Telegraph and Michigan Ave until 1995, so I know the area well. Village Ford tore the machine shop down when the owner died and they park trucks there now.

PM me and we'll grab that beer sometime. I've got family that owns a couple of bars right in the neighborhood here by my house.

WranglerForum.com members get free shipping from Quadratec. Just enter the coupon code saharatango when checking out and the standard ground shipping is free.

Then installed the spacers for the 285/70/17's & they protrude less 1/2" but in saying that the police jeep in our area has 35" MUDs on it & they protrude about 1/12".
I put on an AEV dual sport 3.5" lift with King dual res shocks which got rid of the rake and toe in. Steers straight & rides great although the shocks are harder than the standard soft shocks but it feels more stable & solid on/offroad than my stock Rubi set up which seemed a bit shaky on our pot holed city roads. Although I never tested the no lift/no spacer (285/70/17) set up off road, I know it would've rubbed at full articulation. I have owned a stock J.K in the past & am so happy with everything I've installed thus far. Keep in mind at no time did the 285/70/17 ATs rub even without the spacers but it did skate in the wet a little. This thing now grips the road like a tank & in the wet is easily better than stock.
Pics tomorrow.
Here are the pics you asked for, have you cut your pinch seam yet?
Post a pic or two.

Some minor mods done: black logo, gutter guard grill with ez pass behind it, vht nite shades lights, black stubby antenna from antennaX. I also want to tint the flare marker lights but it doesn't seem easy to remove them, is this the case?

Check the Recon website, they have a video on installing their side marker lights. They also show you how to make your own tool to remove those rivet like connectors.

Hey Bad Dog, I was planning something similar for the license plate bracket. Then I decided to wait on the winch. I got to looking at he Tuffy flip up holder, it looks like it might be a close fit for those bolts or a small plate to convert it. Yours came out looking very nice, I may go ahead and do the same as a temporary, but I like seeing the Rubicon filler plate, hope the cops don't mind too much.

Amazing first 24 hours with my jeep! First the dealership had seen and they unanimously declared it the best wrangler ever built. It looks like such a work of art that I was afraid to start modding but when my little guy went down for his nap I jumped right in:

1. Completely removed hard top to remove soft top (dual top group). Glad I did - wasn't as hard as I was expecting.
2. Installed Tuffy Security deck. Nicely built product with more bolts than I expected

It was an easy install until the final step when I started to put in the lid and noticed one corner was bent. Not sure how this could have happened after production since the packaging was well done so I have to assume they let it out if the factory this way.

This is a critical part of the deck - important to opening and shutting the lid. I will be calling Quadratec and potentially Tuffy to get the issue resolved. Disappointing but first impression is that I will be very happy with the deck once it works.

3. Since I had the time I decided to dive into the SPod installation. I was very nervous about this one but it was incredibly easy. The packaging was organized and the pictures were a great guide. First thing I had to do was remove the plastic center headliner to install a bracket for the control. I had to trim some of the plastic, but it was simple with a box cutter

Then I attached the switch control - only two screws and started to feed the wires and air gauge hose over the driver's side.

I'm not one to disassemble a perfectly good product so I was hesitant but it turned out to be so simple

After punching the wires through the firewall it was time to install the source.

The source will make life so much easier when my black box logistics LEDs and ARB compressor arrive (still waiting for the Gobi rack so the lights will need to with for another 1-2 weeks). SPod was also very easy to install - I just kept thinking what a beautiful and well designed product.

JD, what GOBI overhead rack you going with? I've been looking at the Gavin, GOBI and some, others. Really having a tuff time picking one. I'd prefer no drilling anywhere into the body at all. What are you all planning?

I went with the Gobi Stealth - no drilling required, which is a huge selling point. I ordered from Trail Duty on 4/1 but haven't heard an update on the rack yet after leaving a message last week with both trail duty and Gobi. I am guessing it will arrive in another 1-2 weeks so plan a total of 4-6 weeks from order. Very expensive at >$1,500. I found one up in Redding for $950 on Craigslist but too far travel for a rack. Gobi also has a an LED version of the light bar - I would have strongly considered it had I know I would order LED, but ultimate I like my setup - 20" center combo, (2) 6" flood on sides and a 12" flood rear. I will post pics when it all arrives.

I installed my Rampage locking hood latches over the weekend. The install was simple but did require a 1/4 drive ratchet and a 13mm deep well socket. The set came with two locking hood latches that are keyed alike, so I got 4 keys. The directions were detailed and easy to understand.
The hood now sits much tighter to the fenders thanks to much thinner rubber pads which are included with the set. all hood flutter is now gone. I tested it out at 80mph on a windy day. No hood movement at all. The only catch was a small amount of contact just under the top of the latch when you snap it closed. I fixed that with a small piece of clear packing tape.

Looking for some ideas/tips/tricks-

I live in Germany and bought a US spec 10AE from Exchange New Car Sales. Upon registering the Jeep I was given two long (std EU dimension) plates instead of the short (US dimension) and EU square plate.

I have two options, return the long/long and get long/short -- with the 10AE front bumper I can run a long front plate which I much prefer. -OR- keep the long/long plates and move the rear plate to spare tire or rear bumper.

I found the RockHard license plate relocation bracket on Qaudratec and the PoisonSpyder license plate delete cover.

A few questions-

Who has relocated their rear plate to the spare tire area and were you happy with the results?

Does the RockHard relocation kit require splicing of wires (it appears it does)? Can I purchase a connector to eliminate the need for splicing?

I looked at Jeep.de and Herman (the German) uses a plastic holder on the standard rear bumper and a delete plate. Not an option with the 10AE rear bumper.

The plate swap is free, the relocation will be about $150, no hurry I'm in Afghanistan and the Jeep is being built this week.

Thoughts/areyousmokingcrack?/other suggestions.

Thanks,
Chris

Well guys, if it weren't for bad luck. I don't know if it's just my luck or I'm trying to do too much at once.

I installed the Artec front axle armor kit with "raised" track bar bracket. Then re-installed the front axle with the Teraflex pre-runner kit. Well when you use the raised Artec bracket, it also raises the sway bar end link mounts about 2 inches. Now the supplied sway bar end links are too long and the factory links too short. So I can't finish the front until the adjustable end links I just ordered come in. Issue number two from the Artec kit involves the limit straps included with the pre-runner kit. The truss intrudes on the designed mounting area for the limit straps, so I have to fab a new way to mount the lower end of the straps or leave them off. I'll be fabbing since I want the straps on and doing their job.

Next up I pulled the rear axle out and installed the Artec truss and raised track bar bracket. I didn't think i would need to relocate the spring perches. I'm using the JKS adjustable track bar. Well when I reassembled the rear into the vehicle the rear coils bow slightly and contact the track bar, GREAT. I'm going to try the Synergy suspension spring correction wedges which I also ordered today. I really don't like the idea of the wedges but it may save me from cutting and welding again on the fresh painted rear axle. If I'm not happy with it then I will cut the spring perches off and weld new ones at the correct angle.

I installed the Teraflex hinge assembly on the tailgate and you guessed it, if it weren't for bad luck. Teraflex shipped out a new one and it made it in three days. I swapped them out and the new one fits perfectly and the tailgate lines up like it should. The other one was warped in manufacture or shipping. When the gate was closed it fit right at the bottom but was 1/4 inch out at the top and keeping the ajar light on.

I'm also waiting on longer front brake lines. The factory units "would" work but I'm not happy with the way you have to have them to make it work. So new ones on the way.

I think if I can get all of the kinks worked out I may drive this thing a little before trying the winch or on-board air install. It only has 100 miles on it and I've had it just over 3-4 weeks.

This is a heads up for things to think about with the Artec truss and sway bar end links, but only if you use the raised track bar bracket. Also the mount system for the ATS Fox steering stabilizer has to be modified to work with the raised track bar bracket. The mounting bolt for the SS doubles as the track bar bolt. With the raised bracket doing this would not keep the SS parallel with the tie rod. So I shortened the bolt, drilled a new hole in the track bar bracket at the proper height and mounted it.

The story of my life, if it can happen, then it happens to me. That's why I do the work myself. This much time and tying up space would cost a fortune in labor.

Man Tommy! This blows. Glad you have the know-how and capability. And thank you for sharing these teaching moments with us as well. The Teraflex carrier is on my 'To Do' list, as it certainly seems stout. Sucks you got a bad one.

How is all else?

Can anyone send me the dimensions for the Metal cloak center seat support plate?

I fly for the Air Force and was going to see if I could raid the sheet metal shop for scrap metal and make my own.

L x W & thickness. As well as the distance from the center of the zip tie holes to the front and sides of the plate.
I think I saw 3/16 aluminum somewhere. Just verifying?

Thanks

I believe they have the dimensions and details right on their site. I was thinking the same thing and hitting Home Depot or similar to see the cost on a cut sheet..

Hadn't seen that, cool concept. It is 8.75" centers, where the bumper torx are 6.5" if I recall correctly, so you'd still need to modify. I like the Rubi filler too, at least until I install a winch. Thought about trying to get away with not mounting, but thought I should at least have this ready. For less than $20, may have to play with the Tuffy holder...

No major mods (and no pictures), but I have done a few minor things ...

- Mopar taillamp guards
- Mopar hood lock
- Mopar wheel locks
- Weclome Distributing grab handles

I think next up on the list is going to be a grill guard insert with the mesh, but I think I am going to plasti-dip it red to match the red accents. I may also look into doing the same thing with the chrome Jeep logo on the front of the grill (UhOhBadDog did that, I think?).

And a side question for the other 10A owners - is there a way to set the default screen on the EVIC? Like say I want the default readout to be the digital speedometer, so I do not have to change to it everytime I crank it. Maybe this is in the manual, but I did not see it.

Haha, makes me want to dig up some old posts of yours just to verify a consistent tone of consultative registry. I wonder if your discourse is as elegant when writing to your "peers" as it is to this young man? Oh, and don't forget to sprinkle in a "and get off my yard" in your sense of umbrage.

Cheers,

So, here is what I think I am going to do unless my trusted 10A owner community convinces me otherwise. Originally I didn't want to go beyond a 2.5" lift as it is a dialy driver as well, however I think I am at a crossroads (wanting 35" tires, on the trail, and without any rubbing). For my daily driver /weekend warrior Billet 10A, I am looking at:

---- 3.5" Super-Flex Short Arm Suspension System from Rubicon Express
---- Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Kevlar tires (35x12.50R17C2 which should fit on stock rims)
---- If I can find a mount for the 10A bumper, a Smittybilt XRC10 Comp Series 10,0000 lb Winch (if anyone knows of a plate that fits, please let me know)

(Already have soft top storage boot, window duffle, rear cargo liner, conceal carry storage drawer, Hi-Jack and mount, MyGig Lockpick, CB, Wife-who-thinks-I-am-crazy)

Will I shorten the life of the drive shaft if I don't make any other changes when I put in the 3.5" lift? And if so, how short does it end up being?

Installed the rear set support from metal cloak, the grab handles and a custom jk tailgate from Alanjk on eBay.

I was very uncomfortable with drilling and spent 45 min measuring and re-measuring! I still ended up a little too tight. I also broke the heads off the supplied hex screw - the metal in three of the four locations is thick and the pilot hold were insufficient. I went up from the 3/16" bit and still had issues. The supplied screws were much stronger than anything at Home Depot. I finally went down to a 3/4" rather than 1" #14 screw and the right side bolted on.
