Vector Hood UFOs

Since I don't see myself ever dropping the windshield, thought I'd do away with the eyesore bumps/nipples/stops/? on the hood. Went with Vector UFOs to replace, especially when I learned it would "Increase fuel efficiency and sex appeal!". The 10A Hood did present a unique challenge with it's bracing, so I did a write up - Vector UFO Install on the 10A Rubicon Hood

Have any of you installed the AEV spare tire carrier to the rear bumper of a 10a Rubicon? I know the bumper skin comes with

Have any of you installed the AEV spare tire carrier to the rear bumper of a 10a Rubicon? I know the bumper skin comes with a hole pre-cut to fit the support post for this carrier, but I am wondering whether you have to remove the entire bumper cover in order to install the tire carrier's support hub. I asked the AEV sales rep, who confirmed the spare tire carrier fits the 10a's bumper. Unfortunately, Jeep has not yet issued written install instructions for the 10a bumper. Thank you for your assistance with his project!

Very true - for ATs go these are pretty legit. In person they look not too far off from muds. Here is a close up comparison of the treads (km2s in the foreground and Toyo at2s mounted).

I removed the hard top to take out the soft top (dual top group). I installed Safari Straps and Body Armor Trail Doors. Since I already have 5 cars in my 3 car garage the Jeep stayed in the driveway so I used the Bestop Trail Cover the keep the condensate out over night. It was a blast to drive the Jeep so open!!
Does the Bestop Trail Cover work good? Have you had it one during any rain? Looks nice, I am thinking about getting one. It looks like there is a gap on the front door part.

JD good choice. I'll probably go with these. They are also black walls with I like more than the 70's style raise white letters. Even when you turn those huge white letters inside, you can see them.

Plus they come with a 60k warranty and some damn aggressive pricing.
I know a place you can get them online for a pretty good price.
Goes for alot of tires too.

Haven't myself, but one or more 10A owners have. The plugged hole is intended for this carrier. The right side tow hook had to come off as it is in the way. Don't believe the bumper was removed. It does leave the tire right of center. It is a great carrier and offers a lot of flexibility.

The Teraflex also rocks. Doesn't have quite as many features , but does have a hi-jack mount available for example. Some 10A owners have indicated the design of the 10A bumper actually allows for a lower carry position for larger tires like 35s, offering better visibility. And it centers the wheel if you are on the OCD side of the spectrum.

So that's what I've had all these years... I thought being symmetrical kept me more balanced.

I really like both designs, but i trust the design of the AEV a little more because it transfers directly to the frame the weight of a bigger tire, wider wheel, hi-lo jack and possibly extra gas tank, rather than to the sheet metal near the tailgate. I had forgotten about the post where the owner had to remove the passenger side tow hook because it bolts into the same place as the AEV support. I'll have to look for the post to see how complicated the install is. Thanks for the reminder!

Definitely look at Treaddepot.com among whatever other retailers you normally check out - $223 ea. before any rebates for these Toyo open country AT IIs . Saves about $90 each tire vs the KM2s in the 285/75r17 size.

I planned the AEV carrier but was turned off by the removal of the tow hook so i found the TF to be a great alternative - centered tire and ability to mount lower to the bumper with "smaller" tires. My 34s are in the the 33 spot and I should have measure because I think they would fit into the 32" spot due to the cut out in the 10a bumper. Definitely a good choice for lower weight tire/wheel setups but you do need a spacer with the stock wheels if you get the adjustable tire mount.

JD, I'm just at the point of putting in the studs, how sure are you that 34's will fit he 32 setting? I measured and I tend to agree. Can you snap a pic of he left over space on yours? Did it block the hitch? I found out after getting he instructions that I need the wheel spacer, grr.

I can't say for sure because I didn't test fit it - but I will snap a phone pic for you in a few when we get back to the car after lunch/shopping.

I didn't know about the spacer at first either and emailed TF about it. They gave me a new part number (1055005) but warned that dealers don't have it on their systems yet. I worked with a Quadratec rep on Friday to get it in their system so you have the option to order direct or through Quadratec at $50.

New owner needs help with mods asap.

Picked up a Storm Trooper White. Matching Hard Top and Fenders. Uconnect/Nav. Auto. Red Leather Interior. It's actually for the wifey. It was love at first sight for her. We had 1998 Sport back in college and have been dying to get back into a wrangler.

I was told that if I get it lifted at the dealership they will warranty everything for three years. This is the only reason why I'm not going aftermarket. I already purchased the 2.5" Bilstein lift with car. But I have until Monday to cancel if I want to go with something else.

Question #1 - Should I go with the Fox 3" lift? Dealer said a 2.5" is the best option since I can go back to stock at anytime. A 3" means no going back. A 3" looks so much more cool though. Is a 2.5" worth doing at all?

Question #2 - I also ordered 17" XD Strikes with 35" BFGoodrich Mud Terrains. I'm really starting to dig the stock 10a wheels though. It makes the whole jeep look futuristic. Has anyone run the stock 10a wheels with a fat 35" tire? In my head it looks cool, but I'm wondering if the stock wheels are too narrow.

TIA

Ok - here is a shot of my 285/75r17s with studs pressed in the second slots from bottom. Only one lower position available. I don't have a tape with me but as you can see I get about three fingers under. Not sure if that will be enough but seems like it.

Rustoleum 'Sunrise Red' gloss - it's slightly brighter, but pretty close. Took a chance and didn't do any prep sanding as the black logo has some texture. Multiple coats, with long dry time between. Had to do a couple extra as I had a few nibs that were driving me nuts, and I ended up sanding it a bit w/600 grit.
