3. Pulled the grab handle to align the side hole of the grab handle to the hole to the side spacer.
4. Threaded the side spacer hex bolt (more loctite) about a half way.
5. Alternating the tightening of top and sides hex bolts until they were pretty snug.
-Repeat for passenger side-

With this method, there is no gap in between the spacer and grab handle and are rock solid. The side spacer is not parallel but angles downward but both handles are ROCK SOLID.

However for me the horizontal spacer was about 1/2 inch out of alignment with the grab handle hole, forcing me to push/pull while trying to thread the hex bolt into it. I then alternated on tightening both hex bolts until they were snug. Handles are solid enough to easily rock the Jeep. But now you have me worrying about the loctite thing...
Thanks folks,

I just ordered my grab handles. The instructions are very helpful, yet it seemed to need a little force-fit using push/pull to off-set the 1/2 out-of-alignment. I worry if that will result bending something around the A-pillar and windshield/roof frame structure?

Very nice!
How will she drive with 4.10 gears?
Unless you swapping those out as well...

Question

Anyone installed a SPOD yet?
Where (what location) did you install the switches?

I know I am strong but don't know if I am that strong. I used about 15-20 pounds of pressure (estimated). I dont think you could use one arm pulling to actually do that much damage. This was my original fear as well but I think if I actually broke something, the handles would not be so solid.

The location for the SPod is designed to go directly above the rear view mirror. There is some additional info a few pages back where you can see installs by me and Finn- mine was probably posted around May 5

My alignment issue is apparently the exception - per Ken this is happening with a few Jeeps so hopefully you have no issues like Hulk.

If there is any real risk at all it is potentially bending the hex nut that attaches through the handle into the spacer - if you mess that up you will just need replacements.

If someone makes me angry I may even be able to pick up my 10A with these handles...

Thanks, that is very good to know. I should be receiving my grab handles in a few days, and I can't wait to install them (and thanks again for all the tips of installation.)

Oh yeah, turned on the A/C, and I'm hiding from it. Don't like humidity with heat!

Where in MD are you?

Yep, I was growing so frustrated that I ended up calling Ken to talk it through - good thing he picked up! Started to lose fine motor control to turn the hex nut at one point... haha!

Regular Blue Ox baseplate for 07-13 wrangler on my 10a. Have to remove plate under front bumper and drill 3 new holes instead of 2 on both sides. Baseplate will be a little lower than it normally would. No cutting needed on bumper or anything else.

Debating on replacing my 10a front bumper for a AEV premium bumper. My Wife has the AEV bumper on her JKU, I installed it. It is superior in my opinion. Looking for other opinions. With both? Thanks also skid plates AEVs vs stock.

Can't offer much on the bumper, but for skids, check out River Raider's skids:
River Raider Off-Road

In my research they get high marks for design, functionality and durability, and will be my next major move. I looked at EVO, RR, Rock Hard, and a few others.

BTW, this review is what pushed me to them:
RR Skids Review

Oh, and there is not much to the stock skids, although the front one is a new animal and may have a bit more to it.

Fabricating my own license plate mount for the front bumper. Waiting for the plates, will post finished product when I get them.

What's with the Mopar rear light armor? The kit comes with four screws that wasn't needed. I just used the original screws that I removed from the rear tail lights. Worked perfect. Not sure I understand.

Any of you guys use the screws that came in the box?

No, I used the four factory screws, the new ones seemed useless.
