I'm not sure if I'll sell the stock bumpers or just keep them and put them back on when I'm ready to sell the ride. I'll also get a new set of 35" tires for the stock tires for snow driving in the winter.
Nice! I was starting to feel like all the 10as were going to end up mall crawlers! Don't forget the hood! Red seats and hood!

Lowerumble, Really?! The record sales at Jeep are due to the mall crawlers. I'm okay with soccer moms buying Jeeps. As long as they are buying, Chrysler will be in business to service the needs of my Wrangler. I saw the more, the merrier. Especially since we can mod our jeeps in so many different ways that they don't all look alike.
BTW, noobified never said he was taking it off-roading , mudding, or rock crawling(although I'm sure he will be doing some of that). He just listed the mods he's making. It could turn out to be the most awesome mall crawler ever! And its not exclusive to 10As, its a Jeep thing. In case you forgot. Just sayin...

Well I've got the Jeep in my shop and have started the mods. Pics to come in a week or so, I work slow and methodically and only in the evenings after work.

So far it's apparent that Jeep has screwed us with the waiting game again. I have a new Warn 9.5CTI and no way to mount it without fabrication. The winch bumper HAS NO WINCH MOUNT PLATE! In their infinite wisdom/stupidity Chrysler has seen fit not to be able to supply the winch plate for at least another month or more. So it's hurry up and wait, the same as the pre-sell order process, or modify an existing plate from another application. If neither of those then fab from scratch.

Also the bottom contour of both the bumper and air dam/skid is completely different from any other factory Jeep. This means that no commercially available base plate for recreational towing will fit. Again it's hurry up and wait for Blue Ox and others to play catch up, or fab from scratch.

I'm pushing ahead with the Artec trusses and Teraflex lift at this time. Hopefully there will be progress on the other things in the mean time.

I'll get the trusses and lift installed, along with the Spod, Teraflex tailgate hinge, and some other things for now.

I'm also installing a third brake light extension by Rugged Ridge due to the taller spare. I know there are many options for the third brake light which are more asthetically pleasing but I tow this unit behind a motorhome when finished. With a lot of interstate miles I prefer the light to be high and conspicuous above the line of the taillights so it stands out to tractor trailer drivers and others.

Can someone explain to me how "winch ready" translates into "winch capable"?

Come to find out, the COD/Moab bumpers aren't winch ready either. You have to buy the AEV or MOPAR rebranded AEV winch mount kit.

The kit consists of a winch mount plate which bolts to the frame along with a plate that goes inside the bumper between it's mounts and the frame mounts. These two plates tie together to form the winch/fairlead mount.

I found a vendor possibly willing to lower the price below $945.00+tax. Right now that's his price for one Zeon 10-S.
I am willing to start taking a tally for the possible group buy. He needs numbers.
I also want a legit confirmation that the 10-S will fit the 10A bumper!!! Anyone?

So maybe Warn is now following this thread. I posted above about how Warn never got back to me and miraculously, they just did. Here's my PM to them and their response. In short, they ARE producing a winch specifically for the 10a:

Hi Warn!
I'm a part of the 10th Anniversary Rubicon thread that you can pretty much see on the front page of the forum everyday, it's a very active thread. There is A LOT of interest in the special 10th Anniversary Warn Winch that is shown in a lot of the press photos for the 10a:
http://www.allpar.com/SUVs/jeep/rubicon-2013.html

No one knows for sure if this winch is going to be produced for retail purchases, there's a lot of rumors in both the affirmative and negative. Can you possibly provide this info to me or directly to the 10th Anniv thread? If there is no special 10a winch planned, would Warn be interested in doing special pricing for a group sale on the 9.5cti? This idea was floated in the thread and got a lot of positive responses that people would buy. Thanks!
Sincerely,
Darren
---End Quote---
Darren,

I apologize for the late response on this. I had opened this message up but had forgotten to mark it as unread.

This winch is being built specifically for Jeep. I am unaware of the timing of the product's release, however.

With regards to a group buy, we are don't to sell direct to consumers, so unfortunately, I'm unable to offer you any group buy offers.

Sincerely,

- Andy

Thanks to Chrysler's rediculous trend of dragging things out for months on end, It's too late to sell me one. I really don't care to pay several hundred dollars premium for a sticker anyway.

They will also be way too late with a winch mount kit, which I feel should have been part of the factory equipment to start with.

I'm completely over Jeep's rediculous way of bringing product to market 60-90 days later than when wanted/needed. Couple this with no info or communication about these items with the dealer, parts department or customer and they can keep it.

The treatment and problems with my GC along with the process involved with getting this 10A have turned me off Jeep for any further new purchases. They can keep their late to market, overpriced accessories. The aftermarket is more than willing to supply and show much more appreciation for my money and loyalty.

Rant over, Your money, so do what tickles your fancy.

10A guys, can anyone comment on the build of the bumpers? Are they like regular wrangler bumpers (plastic on top of a small steel plate) or are they actually heavy steel bumpers like most aftermarket bumpers?

They are steel except for the plastic crush cans. Pretty much the same thickness as the Moab/AEV bumper.

Don't know how legit it may be but according to this thread Zeon 10-S supposedly does fit. WARN indirectly nodding that it does work...

Just so you know, this was simply put on our Facebook page. I do not know what was needed (if anything) to mount the winch in the Jeep bumper.

I like the idea of the 10A winch.... but am not going to pay a ton for it... as much as I will use a winch on the front of the new jeep $1000 is already a lot. They just look so nice and are really nice when you do need it!

Hi all. Just have the 10a for two weeks and looking ahead for mods. The first one that I have a question about is the steering stabilizer. Stock is ok but there must be a better one out there. What have you guys used to upgrade your 10a's with?

Rugged ridge rear seat floor mats for a two door. My wheels and tires will come this coming week. I ordered rugged ridge 9" x17" in black satin. I ordered bf goodrich mud km2 in 305 x 70x 17. Mcgurd lugs and locks. The wheels will come mounted balance with wheel sensors. ready to install. I been dealing with National wheel and tire from west virgina since 1998 for my wheels and tires. There prices are reasonable. Finally! Started down my Mod Punch List

Spent much of the day playing with Red. Knocked a number of minor mods off her list this weekend:

1. Had the driver/passenger windows tinted to match the back (~35% net)
2. AntennaX metal stubby
3. 'Hid' the garage door opener in the roll bar (no pic, PM for more info)
4. Installed my set of Surprise Straps
5. Bolted in the RuggedTuff Dead Pedal
6. Placed a full set of WeatherTech Liners Front and Back
7. Replaced the Map, Dome, License and Fog bulbs with KRAuto.com LEDs - all but the Fogs were plug and play, and they just required the shaving off of one 'nub' on the new bulbs. So much brighter!
8. Last, and possibly most important, I aired down to 36psi on all four corners, vastly improving the ride and handling!

Has anyone that has done or is considering a lift kit figured out the difference in length between the regular Rubicon Unlimited springs and shocks and those on the 10A? I am still waiting on mine. Thanks!
