I'll post some details when we figure out what to do.
I'd really like it if you could include a drawing or sketch of that winch plate that you're fabbing. Please and thank you

My First Mods

I spent the last few nights doing some minor mods. the first is a Detroit Tigers vinal sticker that i made at work. notice the red outline to match the red accents on the 10A

second i installed the black Gorilla lug nuts with locks. I love the way you can't tell which ones are the locking lug nuts. best 40 bucks I've spent so far.

third I installed the Metalcrafters grill insert. I think this is a classy look and I like the added protection from rocks and bugs nailing my AC condenser at 80 mph.

More mods will follow......it's inevitable.

Awesome! You are the first person I have noticed on this board who also ordered a 10th Annv Edition in the metro detroit area! Can't wait to see you around the area and am hoping mine gets in soon!

Nice to see another 10A owner in the area. What part of Metro Detroit are you from? Where did you order your 10A from?

I'm in the Dearborn area and I bought my Jeep from Snethcamp on Telegraph in Redford.

I'll see you around town for sure. I can't wait to see that new Jeep

I am over in the Sterling Heights / Troy area around 14 MI and Ryan. And I purchased mine from Shuman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram over in Walled Lake because they were the only dealership that would sell me a 10A for invoice (all the ones around the house wanted MSRP or markup). How was Snethcamp with the pricing on the 10A?

Here is the rough idea.

We took two 4" angle pieces cut and bolted them into the studs coming from the bumper, with the 4" sides towards each other. We welded a 3/8" plate from side to side for the winch to sit on.

In order to do this, we cut the bracket from the frame that holds the silver vacuum pump and welded it to the back of the plate that the winch sits on.

These are the major steps that we took. I'll try to get more info shortly.

I got employee pricing (5% under invoice) so the dealer never got a chance to mark mine up. it came to $38,700 after tax, title and destination charges. I had a great salesman and I highly recomend Snethcamp for anyone buying a Jeep (or any Chrysler product) in the Detroit area.

I'm sure you've read on the forum about the discount for Tread Lightly members. I believe you can get 1% under invoice if you're a member.

I'm another Detroit area guy, Dearborn Heights/Dearborn, that picked up my Anvil red seated JKUR 10A last Thursday, I order it from Telegraph DCJ in Taylor on the 23rd of February. So far I have only take off the bumper end caps and did the gutter mesh gills mod. I'm waiting on my Gorilla locks, Welcome distributing grab handles, stubby antenna and Weathertech deflectors which are on their way.

Awesome! Where did you get your gorilla locks at and if you can let me know how you like the Welcome distributing grab handles when you get them on too!

Bought the Gorilla locks off Amazon since I could not find them in any store, you can find spline locks all day long but they all have the same key every single package I bought the chrome pack for a 6 lug vehicel so that I can do the spare also at a cheaper price

Like the colour, I'm thinking of going to 34's or 35's but I'm not entirely convinced. I have 33's at the mo & it looks and rides great. I put spacers & a lift on it, then reset the computer to run with that set up & it's pretty sweet. The spacers took care of the balloon skating & the lift means I can fit a lot more tire under it. I'm happy with it now but this friggin jeep modding thing is addictive! I was going to put a Hemi in it & still might but that Ripp company has finished their kit. If it wasn't for AEV's delay in mating the WA580 with the 2013 RHD I would've already done the install but after living with the 3.6lt for the last few months I'm struggling to find a reason why to even get the Hemi. Here's my current set up which I'm very happy with. You might want to go for better ball joints in your 10A. I've ordered the Dynatrac D44 pro front housing & heavier ball joints after that I think I'm done except the Hemi or supercharger. Not sure.
Here's the link for the super charger
Let me know if you get rubbing on the fenders or have you trimmed. Snap a pic for me please.

Some pictures of the mounting plate we fabricated. It's very tight in there hence the poor picture. This is pre paint, obviously but it makes it easier to see.

As I stated earlier, we used 4" angle to created the brackets, cut down on the bolt side. Had to do a little grinding on the top as well due to curvature of the flange we bolted into. Those studs are the backside of the bumper, FYI.

Second picture poorly shows the actual mounting plate and it's intersection with the angle.

Final picture is the relocation of the vacuum pump. We cut the bracket off, trimmed it down to basically just the mount portion, and welded it below the mounting plate.

It's inevitable for someone to ask me for dimensions, but honestly I wouldn't trust what I could give you. We fabricated this in place more by feel than exact measurement. We built the brackets first and once bolted in had about 1/4" difference in the top and bottom widths. We tacked the plate in place by clamping keystock to the brackets and adjusting until we thought we liked the placement.

Bottom line, this wasn't an exact process, but it works and it much stronger than any pre-fab purchased plate.

And looking at that last image, the drum is off-center as mounted, which explains the off-center factory opening for the fairlead... Just enough to drive me nuts every time I look at it. Thanks to the engineer that dreamed that one up.

It's definitely off center, but it doesn't bother me as much as you would think it would. My state requires a front license plate so I can somewhat cover it up with a clip in plate holder to the fairlead. Nevertheless I agree with you that it's a bad design.

Very nice ride. How much lift did you put on it?
I had the dealership do the tires so at they are warranted with the vehicle and they made the tire calibration change for the speedo.
How wide are your tires? Any chance you can post a couple of picks showing how far they protrude from the fender?

I think the 10A owners in the area need to get together for a few beers. . I'm in Dearborn Heights (north end) near St. Linus. I'm sure I'll see you around town.

I bought the 23 piece splined gorrila lug nut set and it came with 5 locks. They do use the same socket, but it only fits on there one way and acording to the box, it is unique. There was even a sticker with a serial number to get a new key. I just put them on a few days ago and I really like them. I had bought the mopar locks at the dealership the day I picked up my Jeep. They were ugly and they stuck out an inch from the wheel. You could easily clamp a vise grip to it and remove it. I couldn't wait to get that crap off of there. what a waste of $60.

Thanks for the pics. I'm a machinist though, not a fabricator. I could easily make a mounting plate from a drawing or sketch, but I don't have a place to pull my Jeep in and take it apart and fit the pieces the way you did. Nice job though and I appreciate the info. I guess I'll just have to wait for Mopar to release the mounting plate. Waiting seems to be the norm with Chrysler. But, I'll save that rant for another day.

Are these the correct truck lites for the 10A? SET OF 2 Truck-Lite 7'' Round LED Headlamp, Complex Reflector Optics Design Phase 7 27270C

If so I am going to purchase these so I can get those swapped out first thing!

Also should I order the "H4 To H13 Adapters 96630" as well?

Hey Caveman your not too far from me, I'm a south Dearborn Heights guy I'm a block of Monroe and couple houses in from Dearborn boarder. I would be down from grabbing a beer or three.

I bought the set of 24 Gorilla locks off Amazon because I picked them up for under $40, with free shipping and the set from Quadratec is $40 plus shipping. The actually showed up last night around 10 pm which really puzzled me since I did not know they delivered that late but anyways I will be putting them on tonight. Looking at them out of the package I like them a lot and they don't really stick out as being wheel locks with.

Oh yeah I installed the Welcome Distributing grab handles last night and man I know it has been said before but these things are SOLID once they are installed. My only complaint with them is the instructions for installing the back handles. The packaging has wonderful instructions for installing the front set then nothing for the back set, luckily they are a very straight forward install so there is not a issue figuring them out, I just need to find the right allen head socket so I can properly tighten then down since the only allen key I could find was one I cut down for some reason.

I am still on the fence on whether I want the paracord grab handles in red and black or the welcome grab handles.

Soo many choices !

I was on the fence also, until I took delivery and I did not like the placement of the rear grab handles, they are pushed pretty far back because of the sound bar

The packaging has wonderful instructions for installing the front set then nothing for the back set, luckily they are a very straight forward install so there is not a issue figuring them out, I just need to find the right allen head socket so I can properly tighten then down since the only allen key I could find was one I cut down for some reason.
I will add the Welcome Dist. Grab handles are top notch and really are the best mod I could do right now as I use them every time I get in or out.

Soo many choices !
rg, though I do not have my vehicle yet, I would recommend WD grab handles, they are over built, I can only assume Marine Proof!

Looks like the consensus is in that the WD grab handles are the best. Now I have an excuse to order them !

How wide are your tires? Any chance you can post a couple of picks showing how far they protrude from the fender?
I will take the pic in the morning. Likewise with the warranty; the dealer actually took off the stock tires & on my request put on 35's by mistake but also warrantied it with the BFG 35 MUDs. I then purchased the tyres i actually asked for & took off the mud 35's to instal the 285/70/17 AT's instead. Then installed the spacers for the 285/70/17's & they protrude less 1/2" but in saying that the police jeep in our area has 35" MUDs on it & they protrude about 1/12".
I put on an AEV dual sport 3.5" lift with King dual res shocks which got rid of the rake and toe in. Steers straight & rides great although the shocks are harder than the standard soft shocks but it feels more stable & solid on/offroad than my stock Rubi set up which seemed a bit shaky on our pot holed city roads. Although I never tested the no lift/no spacer (285/70/17) set up off road, I know it would've rubbed at full articulation. I have owned a stock J.K in the past & am so happy with everything I've installed thus far. Keep in mind at no time did the 285/70/17 ATs rub even without the spacers but it did skate in the wet a little. This thing now grips the road like a tank & in the wet is easily better than stock.
Pics tomorrow.
