There's a lot of folks on here that have ordered 10As. The waiting is the hardest part. To pass the time, lets hear what mods you're planning. Tires, wheels, lifts, winches, speakers, etc. Please share and keep in mind, everyone loves pictures, prices, and links.

The Set-up

So I opted for the the "Complete Skid System" in black powder coated steel from River Raider Off-road. This is a stout system, and each box is heavy enough to make Brown Santa really dislike your address:

Yellow Font Label Auto part Signage

Here are the three components laid out, if a bit out of order (transfer case is in the foreground, transmission/oil pan is in the middle, with gas tank in the back):

Electronics Automotive exterior Bumper Table

Hardware comes well labeled and individually bagged (And believe me, I was looking for the crate with my HEMI in it!):

Auto part Plastic

RROR brands their product, although it is overall subtle:

Skull Font Bone Games

Finally, I am also installing a Fumoto valve in place of my drain plug to facilitate oil changes through the access hole in the skid. These really are slick, and I suggest a bit of research if you're looking at this or any similar set of skids:

Fuel line Thermocouple Cable Wire Technology

So the install is underway. Didn't get to work on it near enough this weekend, so I'm not done as soon as planned. I'm about three hours worked into it, and most of that was spent fighting with and ultimately wrangling the transmission/oil pan skid onto the motor mounts. I ended up making a call to RROR today for tech support (THEY ROCK!), and once I had that, managed to get it up in about an hour tonight. This also included drilling a 1/2" hole in my 'new' JKUR, so that took a bit of mental prep, but the next one should be easier. I also did some prep work for the next two pieces, so the install of these should go faster in the next evening or two. I promise pics of the finished product!

Hey - really interested in getting your thoughts on this install - still about a week or two away from mine

Are those scratches from our trip to Rausch?

Should you wait until after lifting before doing an install / upgrade like this, or does it really not matter? Just thinking from the perspective of having to do things twice (i.e., putting on full skid system then having to take stuff back off to access parts for a lift).

It comes down to whether or not you will be wheeling before you lift, and whether or not you are willing to accept the risk of not armoring. I value armor. IF it needs to be removed for lift install, it's really not that difficult, although it likely won't need to be uninstalled.

So my River Raider Skids are finally installed! Weather cleared, my schedule opened up, and I wrestled the dang things into submission. The install is doable as I stated before, but if a shop would do it for $250 or less, I'd be tempted to let them at it.

These are solid, and provide for a nice smooth belly from engine to tranny to transfer case and down the gas tank.

First up, thought I'd share a pic of my redneck lift, courtesy of the swale down the side of our house:

Here's a series of shots looking at the engine skid, towards the back from where all three skids meet, and then from the back toward the front with whole system:

All-in-all, I am thoroughly pleased with the finished product.

Finally, here is a shot of the stock Evap Cooler Skid. Given the vulnerability of this, the RROR Evap Skid arrives tomorrow to address this.
Auto part Vehicle Car Muffler

Happy to try and answer any questions you all may have.

Almost forgot, Hammer One stopped by to check it all out, and we finally got to admire each others' Anvil JKURs. Great to connect with a fellow WFer and 10A owner.

BTW, the lone factory (non-buttonhead) bolt in the middle pic is to be replaced. Had an issue with the button head provided, so used a factory bolt to hold it up for now. So ignore that unfinished bit of business. :thumb:

How does that winch thimble hook on to anything?

My 10A mods

Took delivery in April but a major project at work kept me from doing any mods until a month ago. Here's a few pics.

Yea, every weekend :) Been a great experience doing it myself. Had some help from some pals on the lift though. The lights above the winch are the Rigid spots. I have their floods on the tire carrier and the driving lights on the hood. Also have their 50" on the top of the windshield. I've got one more pair of floods for the fog lights but I have to make some brackets first. The Rigid brackets for the floods don't work with the 10A bumper. One of my favorite mods is the camera I drilled in the back bumper. Works great with the lock pick and only cost $30. I've got one to put in the front bumper too, but that's for the next rainy day. Skids are next on the list.

Mod list

Was asked to post my list. Not advocating one supplier over another, it's just the choices I made when I purchased and wanted to try to help point you in a directino so you can review it for yourself. Tried to throw a few comments into as to why I went with each item abut am willing to give anyone details through PM's or what ever, on my install experience with some specific item I've got. Hope the list posts ok. If not, PM me and we can do an email thing. The first items in Yellow, are things I had on 2012 Arctic that work fine with the 10A.

AEV drop brackets - didn't notice much difference
Replaced all suspension bolts.- still cant believe Jeep put fully threaded, too small bolts in there... they chewed my suspension sleeves out in 300 miles! They will get a class action suit on there sooner or later with the death wobbles. Shortsighted and bad for reputation. Shame on you Chrysler!

Trail Rated 4x4

Hi everyone,

I'm from Belgium and I just got my 10th Anniversary JKUR.
I Europe we don't have the chance you have. It comes with normal bumpers, we can't add winches, ... to protect walkers.
But on mine I don't have the red and white plate on the left side "Trail Rated 4x4". Does someone can order it for me and send it to me in Belgium? Of course I will pay you before the sending by bank.

PM for the details if it seems possible for you.

Best regards
Marc

Marc- welcome to the forum and 10A ownership.

I am in Germany and should be able to get the emblem for you. I have access to a US military post office and from there I can get it to you via DHL (so no customs:angel:).

Just need to find a dealer that will ship to the APO.

Sorry about the bumpers...

Let's try and get a Euro 10A meet- I know of another member who has a 10A in Germany.

Chris
