12V power outlet timing out?

My wife was using the 12V power outlet the other day for her laptop on a long journey, and for some reason it kept turning off every ten minutes or so. I can't find any reference to this in the owner's manual, any idea why this would be happening?

Hold my beer and watch this.......

It's not supposed to turn off until you turn the ignition off.

Sounds like it's some kind of safety mechanism when the current draw exceeds a certain amount (if it's not a wiring issue). Does it turn back on immediately, or is there a delay? Try running the laptop on low power and see if it still does it.
