13-14 underseat lockbox for 2 door

Has anyone successfully installed a Bestop underseat lockbox on a 13 or 14? The instructions are unclear as to where it fits. I would assume that you need to remove the bar under the seat. Does removing it cause any issues? I have one on my 09 and my wife would really like one for her new 14.

I'm looking at adding one under my drivers seat and certainly would like to know it they work or not.

Just an FYI -- I bought one for my 2011 JK 2DR in advance before my Jeep arrived. It didn't fit and I gave it to my neighbor for his JKU

I have one

I installed one on my 2013JKU Sahara this summer. I put mine under the passenger seat though. There is a small shelf or bar under there that comes out with two bolts, no big deal. The hardest part was getting the seat bolts loose. I needed a breaker bar, those babies were tight.
This is an awesome lock box. You can fit a lot of stuff in it for its size, and I love it.
Best of luck.

Just installed one last weekend. No need to remove the bar just the bracket for the wiring harness under the seat. They do supply zip ties to relocate the harness. My instructions advised that the box only fits 4DR JKs.

Btw. Highly recommend the safe box it's working out very well.

Hope this helps.

I put one under the driver seat in my 14 JKU. I did have to remove a bracket and ziptie some wires. There wasn't much room, but it works. I think I remember reading that the lockbox does not fit under the 2-door seats. But it definitely fits under the 4-door drivers seat, can't vouch for under the passenger seat.

Do you have a 2dr? Everyone else replying has a 4dr. By bracket, do you mean the one the goes across in the front? Bolts? Screws? Are they easy to get to? I can't just start tearing into things like I would on my Wrangler. The wife is a bit particular.

I have a 2013 4DR. As mentioned above I don't think this box fits in a 2 DR. The bracket is under the seat and can quickly be removed with a 25 torque bit. No bars need to be removed.

The directions are really straight forward and very easy to follow.

Hope this helps

I can only speak for the '12, but the Bestop and the Tuffy boxes won't fit a 2-door, due to the fold and tumble seats (or whatever Chrysler calls em).

Pretty sure it's the same with '13s and '14s, as well. Though I've been known to be wrong.

I've got one in my 4-door, and had to remove only a bracket that held some of the seat electronics. There was no bar in the way. Maybe there's a way to make it work, but I'm not sure what it is...

I don't think the 2 door issue with the seat bracket has been solved.

That's what I'm getting as well. I just wanted to make sure that someone didn't find a work around before I pursue other options.

I put one in my 13 JKUR with heated seats. Very easy. I just had to un clip the seat heater wire. If you have the seat heater you can just zip tie it off to the side or even just let it rest on top of the box.

We know it fits the 4 door. This post was strictly about the 2 door.

Well considering your title and original post says nothing about 2 door , I'm not surprised about the response you have had ...... Just saying

Kbwwolf posted a couple of threads up that he thought there was an issue with 2013 & 2014 JKU's as well. I believe SBL was just letting others know that he had no issues with a 2013 JKU (which is good to hear because I'm in his boat and considering one of these).

Yeah, I definitely screwed the pooch with the thread title. I knew what I was looking for, why didn't everyone else? LOL!

I have a 2012 2 dr and use a gunvault nv200. Does the job, but not as easy access. I would look at a 4 dr seat and see how they are built. I am thinking if you dont use the slide and tilt feature, that front bar can probably be cut. Or somehow find a used 4dr front seat.

The problem with anything for the 2 door, as already mentioned, is the "slide/tumble" seat to allow access for back seat passengers.

I was in the same boat looking for some under-seat locking storage. From my hours of research and talking to a friend at Morris 4X4, there's nothing that is out yet that will work. He called several different "brands" (Bestop, Tuffy, etc.) and came up empty.

That in mind, I went with Tuffy Locking Cubby Cover, Black - 143-01

I saw that option as well. The issues I have, over the option I previously posted, is almost double the price and drilling into the bed.

Drilling in the bed? Did you mean that in reference to the cover I posted?

If so, there's zero drilling on that one. It replaces the factory plastic cover with a steel cover that locks. Take about 10 minutes to install.

Yeah, I thought I read in the directions that drilling was required. I just looked again. I see now that it bolts to existed holes. Now I have to compare again and re-think the whole thing. Thanks, I think.

Yeah, I was REALLY confused on what I wanted to do when it came to locking security...and I still am. While the rear cover is nice, it's not terribly convenient if you pack stuff in your rig...and then need to get to the locking area.

The underseat box in my 09 is ideal and we were hoping to do the same thing.
