'13 or '14 ?

'13 or '14 ?

Hi! I'm A Newbie.
I want to build and buy a new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. It's too late to order a '13 and the '14,s are supposed to be available to order (according to my local dealership) on June 5, 2013. I can't find much in the way of projections about the '14,s so I guess I'll wait until next week to compare. What do all of you think?

If you want to order, you don't have a choice, but to wait. See if what you want happens to already be in the system, might be able to get the '13 you want, otherwise order it exactly how you want, within the limited number of choices they give you, next week.

if you can wait to get a Jeep in your driveway until September then 100% wait and order what you want. No-brainer. The 14's won't be much different then the 13's but one year newer is always better unless the price is hiked up.

It's going to depend on what you want. If you can deal with a 13 that you might be able to find on a dealers lot somewhere that will be the way to go. Your gonna end up modifying it regardless so you may be able to get a good deal on a 13. Now if you want a specific color and specific options you will need to be patient and order a 14. Good luck in making your decision, you will not be disappointed whichever direction you decide to go.

I'd write down exactly what you want and email your request to the dealers in your area. If a quote comes back for a '13 that looks good you might go with it.

Remember, the dealer has already paid for the vehicles on his lot and he wants to sell them as quickly as possible. If you're wanting to buy one you're in the drivers seat - especially when buying year end models! Having patience is the best asset when purchasing ANYTHING!

Thanks for a lll the advice. I've already discussed both options,... that is a 13 or a 14 with my dealer. I told him that I will only pay dealer invoice prices on both the vehicle and the options. I also told him that I want his dealer holdback money taken off my vehicle. He has agreed to all of my provisions. I will most likely go for the 14.

you must not really be all that interested in getting one. june, july, aug, and sept are some of the best months for enjoying a wrangler.

Patience

I do have patience as someone suggested but also I can have fun in any season or weather and actually I really don't want it for off road. My other car is a Jaguar so I thought I'd just like a little contrast.

If you are asking the dealer to give you the Jeep at his cost, I hope you don't expect his service department to outlast you warranty. You need to pay him something for the service he provides.

see its comments like that, i really find ridiculous.... are you one of these types of go to a dealership and see something you like and just pay what they ask???

Jinxy continue doing what your doing. it's up to the buyer to get the best price that they feel is comfortable in spending. if i just walked into a dealership and handed a check over for $48K because i like the 10th annversary model. not only would i be a complete dope, i should also just get " SUCKER " tattooed on my forehead...

wait before buying, Pat is going to release info about them this evening... i'd wait to see what colors will be confirmed and so fourth before getting a 2013 model.

I would say that the dealer is still making money or they wouldn't have agreed to the deal.

i second this, wtf is it with some people thinking we shouldnt go for the best price available and then some ?? If I could I would have the dealer throw in dinner too. What a dealer or salesman makes is no concern of mine. When you make a purchase, do you make a habit to over pay ?? No, anyone in their right mind goes for the best price, hell even the wealthy doesnt turn down the best price on anything !!

bravo !!!!! im sure he's another 10th annverisary owner.... according to some of them money is no object and they just buy what they want for whatever ridiculous price they see... go look in their thread i had to go back and fourth a few of them because they thought i was crazy for trying to get a deal for a 10th ann model. needless to say i won't be getting one because the prices asked for them here in Florida are completely out of this world. i'll be content when i get my 2014 and start modding the hell out of it.

Careful... as 10A owner I believe your comment is misinformed. I bought one because I got a great deal and It is "my jeep". I hope that you enjoy "your Jeep" as much as I do mine!

Hope to see you out on the trails! Wish you the best!

Careful nothing..... go into your 10th anniversary thread, and see how i was going back and fourth with the few owners whom were acting like "elitist" i guess quite a few of of you forgot its the same damn vehicle... just a special hood, stickers, and badging, and a semi decent flat grey paint job, with red leather. that hardly justifies spending close to $50K for a jeep wrangler...

Hi, it's Jinxy. Thanks for the support from all of you who agree with me that getting the best deal is a good thing. I visited my dealership again this morning and sat down with my salesman and his supervisor. They are going to order me the 2014 Sahara Unlimited with my selected options later this month when the order process opens. My price will be the Dealer Invoice price on the vehicle and on all of it's options. They have done this for me twice before on two previous vehicles. They are also paying me their holdback percentage , usually 2-3%. They are very happy to do this because they get to sell a vehicle and because they still do make some money. The saleman gets his commision. Everyone is happy and I come back again in the future. They have bent over backwards to accomodate everything I've asked for. They are excited to see me get what I want and I send them more customers. My motto is " Save money where you can so you can spend it where you want." Also, most of their customers are willing to pay MSRP (the sticker). They often don't even ask for fair market price which is a little less but still not as low as Dealer Invoice Price (what the dealer pays). They usually don't know about the Dealer Holdback percentage so they don't ask for that either. Don't forget to ask the dealer about factory incentives and rebates too. Since most customers don't ask for much of any discount, the fact that I do doesn't really upset the balance at all. We all pay much more for everything than we have to unless we plan a strategy. Information=power=savings.

I have been waiting for years to find a Rubi that I wanted. i would have waited for a 14 if the 10A was not a 13,! :-). Fortunately, My dealer hasn't forgotten my name (he called once a week with the status of my 10A for my entire 3 month wait after ordering) and still offers me his cost on MOPAR accessories after almost three months. I'm treated well each time I am there and treated me the same when I had my 2010 JK. Not sure if he treats all customers with the same respect but my experience has been fantastic.

Also, I appreciate learning that I had a thread. Thought of myself as more of a contributor on this forum since my 10A is my fourth Wrangler, thanks again! :-). I'm a black seater too. :-) 2% under invoice and dealer cost on accessories so it was a fair deal for me especially since the trade was fair priced too (where several other dealerships lost the deal).

Jinxy, congratulations! It's awesome you are getting "your" Jeep! See you on the road and trails! Jeep Wave!!! :-)

What exactly are you contributing?? apparently you came on here and got defensive, because i mentioned the 10a owners acting like as if their jeeps are better then others... also are you coming on this thread to brag or what exactly? this thread was aimed at helping this gentleman decide which year to buy. do you want a cookie that you felt your dealer gave you a "hook up" ?

Once again some of us are looking to spend money wisely on whatever vehicle we decide to purchase. i myself don't like being ripped off, if you want to pay for your salesman's monthly groucery bills with the amount they over charge you Hey more power to ya.

I'll enjoy my 2014 whenever i get it. whether i order this upcoming week or just buy one off the lot when they arrive.

Also if i feel like acting like one of " you " elitist 10a owners, maybe this will make you feel more at home. i'm ready to buy which ever 2014 model i want. there won't be any financing or leasing here " HammerTime" my checkbook is ready to write a full amount for one of these badboys.

Enjoy your Jeep, I appreciate your opinion. I think the 2014s are going to be awesome! Also, saw on this forum that a record number of Wranglers were sold this month. So more waves for all of us! Also maybe more clever mods will be available since more market to make each Jeep as unique as its owner! Congrats again Jinxy!

Jinxy says: You guys are great! I'm glad I decided to check out your forum. By the way, I'm a girl, just incase I didn't mention. I think every Jeep is lucky to find a nice owner.
Each Jeep starts to take on the personality of it's owner and becomes a one of a kind. The make, model and price are irrelevant. My favorite Jeep is this restored old Wrangler pick-up truck on display at the dealership. It's soooo retro. Bare bones utilitarian. I'd buy it if it were for sale. Night all.

I gotta say when I read your post referencing 10A owners I thought man this guy sure paints with broad strokes. Not sure how you can lump every single 10A owner into one group. I am sure there are just as many 10A owners who beat down their dealer to get the best deal they could.

You need to chill out man. You are not contributing anything yourself. Your first post on this thread was an out right negative comment about all 10A owners. You became extremely defensive yourself once one 10A owner decided not to take your shot gun comment to lightly. Most of all, why do you care how others spend their money?
Just like you said. Its the same vehicle. Relax and enjoy your Jeep the way you want to and let others be happy and enjoy theirs regardless of sticker price or edition!

I'll go ahead an say this one last time. go back about a few pages on that 10A thread. i Literally had a good HANDFUL of them criticizing myself because i don't want to pay the outrageous NON negotiable price all the dealers here in florida are asking.... i merely told them i'm looking for a deal, and i got reponses even from some guys on there that don't even own them yet saying such things as "OH WELL... I paid it " or "you wont ever own one" blah blah blah
Last i recall this is supposed to be a community of enthusiasts, not people acting like elitists.
as far as the rest of this forum its great with loads of helpful and informative info. its definetly different then the mitsu evolution crowd and 100% different then the honda forum i use to frequent prior to me selling those two vehicles.

I don't care how others spend their money... but i find it quite moronic as well as brainless for people to put comments up in regards to myself or any other future owner of a new wrangler with sarcastic comments like a few above. If you read this thread Thoroughly you would have seen them.

Also do you expect me to NOT say anything when someone comments negatively towards myself? last i recall this is a free public forum and i am following their rules and guidelines. and we are in the U.S and i am entitled to "freedom of speech".

funny how you were offended yet others in this thread agreed with quite a few of my comments on here, but nce again you DIDN'T read this thread Thoroughly

You sound happy...good for you...all is well then. For others in the same boat, just know that prices can increase and options change. Ordering line items are already different for the 13 than earlier this year.

Yeah no kidding. hahaha

Never once did I get offended by what he said and never did I say I didn't agree with his intent on not paying full price. God knows I'm a cheap skate and never paid full price for any vehicle in my garage. Yet he goes off on a "moronic" and "brainless" tirade of freedom of speech.

I was just pointing out he wasn't contributing to the thread by adding needless insults to the 10A owners/thread.

I am happy because buying now provides a unique oportunity for my dealership to be able to search for a 13 with all of my specifications as well as the chance to look at the 14 line up and make a selection there. The timing couldn't be better to go either way. Just in case I'm not thrilled (which I think I will be) with the 14's, it's not too late to get a 13. Getting exactly what I want is my highest priority even before price.

PS I'm not sure how to quote a previous message yet. I will learn

right now is an excellent time to buy one. you can search for a 2013 model to your liking or just end up ordering a 2014 model this week. I'm honestly contemplating on ordering one this wednesday. im just a tad uncertain if i should do so before i actually see any of these colors. Pat already confirmed Plum crazy will be available. as for the rest of the confirmed colors and pricing he said he'll be putting info up tomorrow sometime. so i'll wait and figure it out by tomorrow if i'll order one or just wait til they arrive on the dealership lots.
