Lightbulb 15" Wheels on 2011 Wrangler.

I got a 2011 Wrangler Unlimited less than a year ago and I'm slowly but surely trying to make it my own.

I'm looking to get new wheels and tires and I'm leaning towards 15" wheels but I know nothing about backspacing or anything like that so I'm looking for help because I read in a previous post something about how the 15" wheels might rub on the brake calipers on the 2010-2012 Wranglers.

Most alloy 15" wheels will fit over the brake calipers; most of the steel 15's won't.

You want backspacing of 4.5" or less, which is no problem with 15's, since most are actually around 3.75" or less.

To find out which wheels fit, check with Discount Tire Direct (forum vendor) via PM or phone call.

Here's a thread by WF god 4fit that should help you understand tires/wheels for your JK; it also has a good explanation of backspacing:

Largest tire on stock JK? Here's your answer!

And another one on wheels and backspacing:

backspacing and rim size?

So a 15x8 Steel wheel with a 3.75 backspacing probably wouldn't work on my Jeep?

Well, the ones you linked to definitely don't fit since they have to wrong bolt pattern. JK bolt pattern is 5x5 (some places list it as 5-127).

The 15" steel wheel fitment seems to on a case by case basis. Seems like the tolerances for some of the steel wheel manufacturers fluctuate quite a bit. Some folks have reported caliper contact with certain wheels while others have reported zero clearance issues with the same wheel mounted to the same type axle.

Just this week, I have seen two reports on this forum of people running the Summit Racing Soft 8s in 15" on a D30 without issue.

That being said, safest bet still seems to be aluminum. There are several wheels that are guaranteed to fit without issue.

52 Rock Crawler Series - Gloss Black Powder Wheels by Pro Comp

These are the wheels that I've been looking at, mainly because of price because I'm trying to keep the Wheels and Tires cost at $1200

Holy crikey! Yeah, that one's a little tighter than mine, I think. Awesome.
