17 inch pro comp no lift

I am planning on getting these Pro Comp 7105-7873 - Pro Comp Series 7105 Cast-Blast™ Finish Alloy Wheel for 99-11 Jeep® Vehicles with 5x5 Bolt Pattern - Quadratec my question is what size would be better 17x9 or 17x8. The backspace is confusing me. Also what is the biggest tire I can put on them without a lift. I have a 2 Dr sport. Sorry about being a noob.

What will stick out more the 17x9 or the 17x8 I could fit a 285 70 17 duratrac on that wheel without rubbing correct? The 17x8 has 4.5 bs and 17x9 has 4.75 bs

17X9 with 4.75 will stick out further.

A 17X8 with 4.5 and a 17X9 with 5" bs will end up the same with tire mounted
