17x9 wheels with 3.5 backspacing - Good idea?

Finally found some wheels I'm interested in and for some reason they are only available in 17 x 9 with a 3.5 backspace (-38 mm offset). Is anyone running a setup like this and does it present any issues or problems? Seems like they'll end up sticking out past the flares a couple of inches but other than that I can't see why they wouldn't work. I'm planning on running 35 x 12.5 tires and it should make for a wide/mean stance. If anyone has some pictures of this that would be great; I'd love to get an idea of how far they'll stick out. Thanks,

that's a good backspacing... you'll be fine. leaves you plenty of clearance for suspension parts...

i'm running at 3.5 BS now. 13.50" wide tires look good that way.

I'm likin it for sure; I think I'll pull the trigger and go with them. They stick out even a little further than I would have thought but I like the wide look. I'd love to see some more pics if anyone has a similar setup. Thanks!

My rig on the left is running 17x9, 3.5" bs ATX SLAB beadlocks with 37x12.50" bfg km2's on factory axles.
The rig on the right is running the same wheels, 37x12.50" nitto trail grapplers on full width dynatrac axles.
