Unhappy 18"s to 17"s on an 07 sahara 4 dr ??

My 07 sahara came with 18s stock. the tires are very expensive if I want to go to a more aggressive tire other than the brigestone duellers that came stock. Can I jump to 17"s and get larger tires ? If so what is the largest tire on a 17" rim that can be put on my jeep without getting a lift?

Thanks for the reply, I dont even know where that is, Im guessing out in Cali or somewhere out west. Yes it's too bad. Do you still have the stock tires on the rims as well, I think they come with BF's dont they?

You can run 32's with no spacers or lift. 33's you'll need spacers for DD, and a lift for any kind of flex, ESPECIALLY if you run a swaybar disconnect- Mark W.

You have alot of options for 33" tires on either 16 or 17 inch wheels ---- the 16's will be the most economical and feel the best off road.
I have 285/75-16 on my Sahara with 4.5" of backspacing; if I had chosen a wheel with 5" backspacing, it would've fit perfectly. With 4.5" though, the tires rub a little on the rear fender at full-stuff. It was less expensive to buy 5 of these tires and the wheels than to just buy 5 of the same tire in a 275/70-18; go figure.
In your search remember that some tires are taller/shorter wider/narrower than advertised. A mud tire is usually taller than the same size all terrain and the AT is usually wider at the tread but not at the sidewall. So, depending on the wheels/tires, you might buy a 33" tire and have no problem with rubbing or it might rub suspension or fenders.
It's easy do it right but even easier to do wrong....

Thanks !!

Thanks for the info !!! I'm really excited about building my sahara up from stock. And it's nice to be able to come here and get input and advice from people who know what a jeep can do !!!!!! But I think I will lay off of the ice/guardrail mod for now, that looks really advanced !
