this a known issue on 3.8 engine. post back when you hit 200000 miles and its still running strong. 3.8 a proven engine. unlike the 5.4 and other ford engines, it will still be holding its plugs in place.

I bought a new 1989 mustang lx 5.0, that lasted 6 months before the converter backed up and burned the car to the ground. Bought a new 2010 gt, had it for 1 year, driveshaft fell out of the transmission at 500 miles, and after they replaced that, the alternator went out. At 2500 miles the winshield wipers came on by themself and wouldnt shut off. Done! i will never buy a ford again. This is my first Chrysler product and i have never been a big fan of them, but my 2000 Sahara was the best thing i ever drove, so i figured i would give them a chance. I guess only time will tell, but for now, i frickin love my new jeep!

As any genuine stang owner knows, stock sucks, but ya can build em to desimate all. That being said, Ill put a Rubicon up against a Raptor on the trails any day. So the whole Ford thing can go, because Im betting your Jeep thats in the shop continues to go where you point it.

Ive had 3 fords before my current grand cherokee. A 96 f150, a 94 mustang gt, and a 01 f250. The f150 liked snapping driveshafts and nothing i did prevented it rusting out, the mustang blew 2 clutches to shreds... probably why a 17 year old kid shouldnt have one, and the f250 which i still have has shot out 3 sparkplugs, destroyed the rear axle which prompted my friends to make the new acronym f@#$ed overrear diff, has had new ball joints every year beacuse they wear out too soon, and the trans slips all the time.
The grand cherokee has a cv axle going out, the stock amp blew and so did all the speakers, the check engine light always goes off saying the coolant sensor is bad even though ive replaced both sensors 3 times, it overheated on the coldest day of the year last winter, its a hard start even on a normal day, and its rusting as bad as my old f150.

between the issues ive had with both ford and jeeps you would think i would roll the f250 and the grand cherokee off a cliff after starting both on fire before i would ever buy another product from jeep or ford. Thats not the case however im never getting rid of the f250 no matter the number of headaches its caused me and im getting a 2012 wrangler this weekend. Brand loyalty is a great thing but every vehicle out there has the possibility of being a complete pile or the best running car ever. Before condemning a brand think hard about why there are still new cars out there and people buying those cars every day

Comparing apples to oranges there. The Raptor is essentially an off road version of the F150, but not really a fair comparison to a Rubi. They're much wider since they're full size trucks.

I went on a run once with a Raptor. Those things are beasts! If I had a need for a full size truck, I would want a Raptor. They are badass!

A better comparison would be like comparing a Sport to a Rubicon. The F150 is like the Sport, Raptor is more like a Rubi.

Burning oil isn't a "Jeep Thing" Something is definitely wrong, and hopefully you're not one of the unlucky ones to get hold of a lemon. It happens.

I've owned my share of Jeeps over the years.
- '89 White YJ (Traded for the Silver TJ, wanted Coil springs. Never any issues.)
- '01 Yellow TJ (Ex husband traded it for a Dodge Dually, he wasn't a real Jeeper, never any issues.)
- '01 Silver TJ (Ex husband rolled it or I'd still have this one. Almost 40k miles before she met her untimely death, never an issue.)
-'11 Silver JK (Still have this one, she's still young, but not a single problem so far.)
-'12 Gecko JK (she doesn't count yet b/c I just got her today. :P)

I've never had any kind of reliability issues out of any of them. I did however pay 54k for a Ford Powerstroke that within the first 50k miles received 2 new tranny's, a torque converter, and a turbo.

Every brand is gonna have a lemon pop up here and there. But don't let one bad luck one give be the basis of your entire opinion of a vehicle.

Jeep owners are almost a cult. It's b/c over all the years these things have proven to be quite possibly the most bulletproof, fun off-road vehicle ever produced. I really hope you can get yours going again so you can get a chance to see that aspect of it.

Believe me when I tell you though, your current experience with it is definitely not he norm.

I was merely taking the two top offroad dogs and comparing on a purposeful jeep trail. Rubi wins hands down

Raptors are great, until you bend the frame. Check out the latest issue of Offroad magazine.

Raptors are badass and I thought about getting one instead of my JK but I didn't want a pickup truck again and the roof doesn't come off. The ford Explorer is no where near what a bronco was or could be again. Would have been nice to see what ford would have done with a production model of..

WANT!!!!

The Fords I've owned in the past 10-15 years have been bulletproof, gas and go affairs.

On the verge of ordering a new JK in a few months, but horror stories around here (plus nagging experiences with my TJs, and the wife's former POS '07 Compass) give me pause.

It would kill me to dump my absolutely trusty '04 F150 for a new JK and have ANY issues with it.....

It's just anecdotal, but I bought my only Ford in 1991—a 2x4 Ranger. I mostly drove it pretty calmly. It was an okay truck and I was fine with it. But by 1995, it started to fall apart. Within a year, and before it had 60K miles on it, the air-conditioning compressor went out; I had extremely-expensive clutch and transmission failures; the emissions system completely went bonkers, causing the truck to spew more black smoke than I thought possible; and other little things. They may be good for others, but that was my first and last Ford.
