1st time JKU buyer / Forum Poster- pricing question(yep one of those)

My first post but have been in the forums for weeks reading up. Getting ready to pull the trigger on a JKU Sahara 3piece body color dual top in ANVIL. I will not use it for off road but for local daily driver stuff in all seasons.

The details are below (copy of the sticker) I've negotiated a price in the NYC / LI area of $37800- sticker price is $40,750 Is that a decent price in the Northeast region? (I'm fine with it but thought I'd ask)

My only hesitation is that I've read so many people recommend 3.73 axel option and this build has the 3.21. I don't plan to do a lift or serious off roading but from my understanding I could get better off the line pick up with the 3.73 axel set up. I'm leaning and thinking Ill be just fine with the 3.21 but thought I would vent here. Also, what do they mean by "traction control" on a jeep? Will the jeep add more power to the wheel thats slipping?

I plan to do a b/u camera myself and have the 430n flashed.

Thanks for any and all input.

Hi and welcome. The price you're getting is okay, but not great. If this is a 2014 I would try to do better. I got my 13 Rubi for just a few hundred more. But there may have been a price increase since then.

The 3.21 gears are probably fine if you're planning to stick to roads and highways mostly and have no plans for larger tires. I would prefer 3.73 but that's just me.

The traction control is to prevent one wheel on an axle from spinning faster than the other. It helps to maintain traction and stability on slippery surfaces. It momentarily applies the break to the slipping wheel.

Good luck and don't forget to wave.

You'll need to redo your build. You can't have both "Dual Top Group" and "Freedom Top Body-Color 3-Piece Hard Top." Well, not to my knowledge you can't.

I believe you can...the configurator I'm using allows it.

Thank you for taking the time to review my questions. To be clear it is a 2015 not a 2014. The jeep is built already this way and not a custom order so it comes down to patience Do I wait and custom order it with the 3.73 ratio or get it now with the 3.21. Since I won't off-road -(maybe a beach off-road if anything) I'm not sure I'll ever realize the difference- And of course having it sooner is attractive.

So traction control is different then LSD?

The latest news is my dealer wants to drive the car from the dealer 60 miles away they are getting the car from and bring it to them for delivery. I'm not cool with that and I prefer them to flatbed it. Reasonable ?

I'd call it reasonable to ask, but I wouldn't sweat it personally. You will find others who may have paid less, but I think you got a fair price. Good luck!

My new vehicle was driven around 100 miles from one dealer to another , etc before it came to me. Honestly, at first I had a shocked and horrible feeling about that when I saw the odometer, but then I realized it wasn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things (and the vehicle ran very smoothly when I took ownership of it). I wouldn't sweat this at all. Mine was even manual transmission (so more chance of someone driving it messing it up), but it is smooth as butter even thousands of miles later.

Going back to the original post of this thread, the mistake I see is not joining Tread Lightly for 30 days and then getting the no hassle no negotiation Chrysler Affiliate Pricing for your Jeep (the lowest price you will get for a Wrangler unless the dealer really wants to get rid of it/is best friends with you).

I would postpone the order until you do that, and then order the 3.73 gears you want and get a custom build exactly what you want. Sure you will have about 3 months to wait for your new Jeep - but honestly, what's 3 months in the grand scheme of things to get exactly what you want (and to give you another few weeks to research options)?

I appreciate the feedback for sure - Im not sure the tread lightly pricing will be much better then what I negotiated and if it is....it would need to be considerable to incur the 3 month wait.
I guess that's subjective but is there a way to figure out the tread lightly pricing on this build?

Looks like invoice is $38,162. Tread Lightly's 1% below invoice would get you $37,780. Don't think you'd save anything.

I think I've got it configured to your first post as the $40,750 sticker matches:

True, the hardtop option removes the softtop, and the dual-top option adds the softtop back. The hardtop is separate because you can still choose between black and body colored.

You might want to negotiate them doing the flash as part of the deal.

Just have them flash the Parkview camera feature, code XAC. You can then temporarily disable it as a setup option, until you get around to actually installing the b/u camera.

I didn't really see it touched on so here goes...(with Pics to back it up)....

At our house we prefer Jeeps...we purchased a '12 Sport in Dec of '11 with the 3.21s and it does well for us. The thing I like the best is driving a Jeep on the highway that can "Scoot" if it needs to. (Thanks Pentastar) (My DD is a TJ)
We discovered after we became Grandparents that we needed the extra set of doors to get the Grand daughter in and out easier...so we added a Silver '14 Sahara last summer. We had it for about 2 months and I got hit in an intersection by a minivan that failed to stop for a RED light. Jeep was totaled...but we liked it so well (after 2 months and 2500 miles of ownership) we got the same thing sort of...'14 Sahara Polar ...which gave us the Blue Color my wife preferred.

Around town all 3 Jeeps get (or got) about 17-19mpg, on the highway 21-23mpgs.
We know that at this time the '12 and '14 will remain "Street Jeeps" and are very happy with the performance and fuel economy....all 3 obviously have or had the Pentastar...and the 3.21 gears. IMO you will be fine...but it is an individuals personal preference what they want and expect from their Jeep.

The DD is the TJ for me. I don't go that fast and am just "use to it". It has 4.88s spinning 33"s with the 4.0 and a 5 speed. I bought it in '04, and it has 170K miles on it, I wanna "use it up" before I go to the JK....GOOD LUCK with YOUR new JEEP!!

Yes, TC is different than LSD. I believe the LSD is always active, whereas the TC is only active in 4WD. In 4WD, LSD kicks in at lower torque differentials than does the TC.

Love the lineup. My father, my ex wife and I all have JKs. I'm trying to get the entire neighborhood to switch over but some people aren't as smart as others I guess.
