Just went through this. 07 4DR, traded in for a 14 2DR. Drove/wheeled it for 4 months. Traded it in for a '14 JKUR 4DR. I missed the room. I missed the other doors and the ease with which a 3rd passenger could get in. I haul 3 bags with me at all times. To do it with no problems required removing the back seat.

I am happiest with a 4DR.

I have something similar, an export sport 2 door and love it. I fit an unbelievable amount of gear inside plus wife and two kids, and it's excellent off road in any desert terrain, even dune fields few other vehicles can even enter, due to the good break over angle and 4wd system. I have no mods except saddle bags.

I have friends with the 2 door and I have a 4 door. The 4 door rides a lot smoother. Just go take a 2 door for an extended test drive. Take it on some bumpy roads. I drove both before buying a 4 door. But my reasons for buying the 4 door had nothing to do with the ride and everything to do with cargo room.

For me, the nostalgia of the 2 door was the driving force. I love the 4 doors, they're sweet but the thought of buying anything but a traditional 2 door never crossed my mind. That said, if I needed space (and ease of entry) for more than 2 passengers regularly or was going to be hauling a bunch of stuff around, a 4 door would make more logical sense. We have a 7 passenger suv for that tho. The JK is just my work vehicle and weekend cruiser.

Just go to the dealership and test-drive a 2 door and see for yourself!

You already said the 4-door was not good enough for summer fun. How would another 4-door be more fun?

Dude just get a 2door. these things aren't supposed to be comfortable, or quiet, or roomy. its a jeep! If you want room, or quiet buy another suv or mini van. 4 doors just look silly without a lift and at least 35's. They look like long low-riders. This separates the true jeepers from the timid. Just my opinion here!

Bought a 13 2dr sport with auto and air. Also came with the premium top which i was not crazy about at the time. Now Im happy it was on the jeep. The noise level inside is close to the hard top. It is a great option for $400. just my 2 cents. Enjoy your new jeep

Taking my very first off road trip in August in the Ouray area. Hopefully there won't be 100 other jeeps on the trails i'm on (fingers crossed). Planned the trip to fall between Back to School and the Jeep Jamboree so maybe i'll miss the crowds (again, fingers crossed). Another vote for 2 doors. My wife refers to the JKU as a minivan for men

if its a jeep for fun, go 2 door. I will catch heat for saying this. But the 2 door will offroad way better then a 4 door. The break over angle and turning radius of the 4 door is horrid. When my jeep was stock, ( 2 door 2012) it out wheeled my buddies 4 door lifted 3 inches on 33s all day. He would always get stuck because he had to make 3 point turned everywhere and could never take a good line.

Bahahaha!

I think my Jeep looks fine stock. It also wheels nicely too.

I would say maybe the 2 door is "easier" to off-road with. They're both just as capable though. You are absolutely right about turning radius in the 4dr in 4lo. It's bad, not even in the same boat as the 2 door, but it's not like the 2 dr is necessarily more capable or anything...

Agreed. No more power in a 2 door. Same 4 wheel drive systems. Its all about what kind of trails you have. Mine are very tight. With lots of turns. So 2 door is better. But if you crawl rocks. Or do a lot of hill climbs. 4 door is better. I think my 2 door drives fine on the road. Yes the 4 door is prob better. But the 2 door gets better fuel.

A 2 door will inherently have a better power to weight ratio than a 4 door based on the weight difference.

When I have my 2 door completely naked (no doors or top on, back seat removed) you can be sure my power to weight ratio is WAY better than a four door hardtop with all the doors on and seats in place!

In 4lo that's negligeable the only thing that really helps is weight on the rocks....lighter rigs get on stuff a bit easier....built my 4dr light took hardtop off run tube doors on trail to reduce weight....power is great sometimes but in the rocks the idea is to slow the tires crawl so it hooks up....and regardless a 4:1 tcase does a pretty good job of slowing the crawl....I'd like lower but the rubicase is pretty great by itself...

And I've had both a 2dr stretched is the best Imo or like my 4dr a 19" belly height for breakover to get its 116" wb up to clear....

Loved em both both great but either can kill it in the rocks....

That being said if the wife has a 4dr then get a 2dr....

I have a 2dr 10A. Took back seat out and now have plenty of room. Took off that heavy hardtop and put on soft top. Like SoCalRubicon said, this thing will run like scalded cat with tube doors on. Surprises the heck out of smarta$$ teenagers! With a 2dr you also spend less time cleaning up after a trail ride. Plus a 2dr just looks sweet.

I have a 2014 2dr Rubicon that is only 4 months old and I plan on ordering a 4dr in early 2017 (before the "redesign").

I'm looking forward to having both options.

The old lady's 4 door, and my 2 door. I say get the 2 door, since you already have the 4 when more space and passenger room are needed . IMO the 2 is way more fun to drive. Rip the back seat out and enjoy. Also quicker to get naked, always a plus!
