2 door regrets - Anybody?

I am looking to purchase a 2012 2 door wrangler. I have owned a 2004 TJ and a 2007 JKU. I decided to go back to a 2 door becaues I for one like the look of it better. I do have two kids but they only ride in my car maybe 10% of the time. We have a 3/4 ton suburban as our family car. The reason I bought the 2007 JKU was because they kids were in car seats then and that was pain to put them in and out on a 2 door. Well now my kids are 11 and 9 and can get in and out themselves so don't think that should be an issue. Anybody have any regrets on getting the 2 door vs. the 4 door?

The seats in the 2 doors don't move forward nearly as far as they do in TJ's... My kids 13/16 don't like riding in the 2 dr jk nearly as much as they do the TJ, just because there's a lot less room to squeeze in. We are only topless about 40% of the time here, so it can be a pain for them...

That changed with the 11 model year. The seat now folds and tumbles like they used to, instead of just tilt and slide.

my only regret is that I don't have mirror relocation brackets so I can take the doors off (want to stay legal)! lol! nothing about a 2dr is a bad choice...same with the 4dr. you'll be happy either way, but if you're leaning with 2 door, have no fear, I don't believe it will disappoint. good luck!

I have no regrets about the 2-door model at all. I've never owned a 4 door, only three 2 door body styles (1997, 2004 and now a 2012). When I had my 97, we traded it in for a liberty so that we could easily get the car seats in the back. But now our 2 boys are 9 and 12, and they have no problem getting in or out of my Wrangler, which has the stock wheels and tires. I like the looks of the 2 door, but it also fits better in our "2-jeep-garage."

I would say I have the opposite of regret...after having the 2-door it reaffirmed my decision that it was the way to go...

It's fun, zips around like a little car, is great offroad (so is the 4 dr, but the 2 dr has a better stock break over angle), and just looks cool.

I don't have kids so I don't mind the issue of people getting in the back...actually it's great bc whenever we are in a group I don't end up driving everyone...

If you're leaning towards the 2-dr, go for it.

Agree :punk: No regrets at all. We have a "family vehicle" suv for the long trips and such. This was supposed to be my fun vehicle and it is! I have two kids 9 &11 and they have no problem climing into the back seat. Never had an adult in the back seat. I'm sure for them it might be a pain. From my perspective (driver) I love the 2-door.

I think you answered your own question. You don't need a 4 door, like the 2 door better and will pay less. We have a 2011 Grand Overland as a family vehicle and most of the time I run with the kids, it's one at a time and they are 16 and 12. No regrets at all on the 2 door Rubi.

Our 2012 is our primary (and soon to be only) vehicle, and we went with a 2 door. Kids are gone, and we never drive around with other passengers; I will be taking the back seat out soon to get a little more room. I have it tied down now, but we need to put it up for grocery runs. Not a big deal.

We didn't need an Unlimited, and I wanted something more nimble and fun. We were not disappointed in our choice. :thumb:

Had the four door, kids are gone, bought a 2-door 2012. Promptly removed the rear seats so plenty of cargo room now.

Nope, no regrets at all. I really like the 2 door Jeeps but I have no problem with the 4 door ones. It's still a Jeep either way.....

My boys are the same exact age as yours, 11 & 9. I only regret not having enough cargo spac sometimes. I can never carry much things like tools because I tend to use the space for either rolle up windows or for a couple bags of groceries. My wife has a 4-door and the cargo space is the only thing that I'm jealous of. With all that said I love every else about a 2 door. It handles better and is much more fun to drive. Also IMO it looks better

Mine are in my basement under a protective cover and will stay there until the day I sell it...if that day comes:thumb:

I have the 4 door, but got it because I have two kids in car seats (3 and 1) and may have a 3rd kid in the future.

I have also thought about what another mentioned: sleeping in the back. Just get an air mattress and I won't need a tent.

When the kids are out of child seats, I would consider the 2 door. For now, it was either 4 door or something else.

Wranglers rule with any number of doors. I swear if I see another Patriot or Compass thats trail rated, im gonna throw up and buy a mini cooper and badge it rubicon.
I actually traded in an 08 Patriot for my '12 JKU. Regretted the Patriot about when the new car smell wore off... :banghead:

I got it because at the time I was driving lots of miles for work. Needed something that didn't burn through fuel so fast. My job changed and now I'm in the office most of the time, so traded up!
