2 door top

So i bought a new OEM top for my Jeep and it was shipped directly to my home. I got the thing out unfolded it to inspect it and noticed it was missing something. I don't know the name of the part so I'm hoping someone here does so i can call and inquire about the part. the part i'm talking about it the piece that folds under the frame above the door. On my existing top its sewn to the top but the new top doesn't have this piece. should it be there or have they done away with it? any help would be much appreciated

You should have a piece of plastic sewn into it. It's similar to the piece that connects the side windows to the body of the Jeep...under the actual window.

That's weird. You sure you have a regular top? No freedom panels or whatever? Nothing fancy?

I guess something like that could slip by QC, but man...that's like shipping a car without a windshield. How did they miss that? lol

I looked at my jeep btw. Stock soft top. It's identical to the plastic on the bottom of the side windows, sewn in, not removeable

Here's what to do. I see Geoff is online. Shoot him a DM. If I remember correctly he works for Best Top, and I believe their Sun Riders are the stock soft tops. He'd be the one to ask. The resident top expert lol

Geoff@bestop is his forum handle

Sunriders don't have the plastic channels that clip into the door surrounds, I don't think... Not sure tho'. Ask Geoff.

Pre-2010 models do. 2010 began the cable system. The name of the part is the drip rail.

I'd suggest looking at another 2007-2009 Wrangler and seeing how it compares to your top.

If it's really missing something, I'm sure Mopar can do warranty service.

Does your top have a cable and spring sewn into it? It's possible you got a 2010-2011 top, as Tom described above.

I'm wishing spring would hurry up and do it... Trying to encourage it along... I'll change it to something dark and fearsome if you prefer.

Is this one better?

Awesome. Is that a 2010-2011 Bikini top with springs and wires, or the older kind with plastic tabs?

(it's remotely possible I'm spending too much time on Jeep stuff).

the current top on the jeep has the plastic tabs on the sides, the one shipped to me does not have them. It doesn't feel like there is a cable or spring sewn into the top, it looks just like the 2007 except for the tabs. Are the springs/cable another part or is that supposed to be sewn into the top itself?

Looks like it might be defective.

Bestop does not offer support on Factory or Mopar parts - we are a contract manufacturer for them, but they handle all the service themselves. This is a good thing: they're good at it.
