Personaly, I realy like them both. I dont think you can go wrong either way. There's advantages and disadvantages to both. I bought a 2 door, but already have times I wish I had a 4 door. It's hard to fit my fishing poles into my 2 door and while going camping a little more storage room wouldnt be a bad thing. Since most of my driving is to and from work (80 mile round trip) the stability and ride of a 4 door would have been nice too. However I chose the 2 door in the end for no other reason other than that's what I grew up loving and wanting (before they made 4 doors). I see myself buying a 4 door in the future to go along side my 2 door.

I came into the Jeep world after always having big loud long full size trucks. Even the 4 door would have no problem going places my past trucks couldnt with out making a 8 point turn, and wouldnt high center as easily either. So going from those big long monsters to a 2 door Jeep......I'm in heaven! I sure do love me a 4 door too though!!

I traded off my 4 door long bed Nissan Frontier for a 2 door Rubicon. Good riddance to the long wheelbase hard to park monster! We love our 2 door as we also tow it behind our motorhome. Perfect TOAD!

Only reason reason there is a fued is, it seems like a lot of 2 door guys are being douchy over this. 4 door guys can respect both but the 2 door guys seem to say sh!t like if it ain't 2 doors it ain't a jeep.

I wouldn't say a lot of 2 door guys are like that. There maybe a few but I find overall most have the feeling that it's your vehicle get what you want 2 or 4 door.

I have a 2 door because that's what I saw and fell in love with. The 4 door definitely has its advantages with the extra room. I can't honestly say that if I HAVE to replace my 2 door, that I wouldn't go for a 4 door, I may or may not, it depends on what I see on the lot and fall in love with.

Why? A Grand Cherokee doesn't have a convertible soft top.

It's all been said...but that never stopped me from posting before.

2 door cons:
(from someone who has been driving 2 door jeeps for 30 years)

My 2013 JKR's access to the rear seats sucks....hard. Beyond belief. My TJ's passenger seat folded well into the dash and there was a huge access point to get into the rear on that side. Even my driver's side folded fairly far forward. My YJ was similar.

In contrast, my JKR's seat tip feature is beyond lame. Even a small person has to struggle to get in even when the passenger seat is "tipped" fully forward.

Making it even worse, the floor pan design in the rear of my JKR is very odd, with a "shelf" that sticks out from underneath the rear seat before dropping down...which screws leg room in the rear if the front seats are pushed back even moderately far. Again, my YJ and TJ had far more "practical" leg room in the back.

2 door advantages:

I personally love the way that it handles. Love it. On road, off road. I can thread a needle in my JKR...in forward or reverse. It also fits in my garage really well.

I have never driven a 4 door, so I don't know what I don't know...but a buddy has owned three 2 door jeeps (2 TJs, 1 JK) before his purchase of a JKU a couple of years ago and has mentioned that he misses the way the 2 doors handled...for what that is worth. He recently rented a 2 door on vacation...and it reminded him again. Of course, his wife is pregnant, so the JKU was the right choice.

Why I bought another 2 door:

Tradition was the first reason I suppose. Jeeps to me have 2 doors...but I'll admit that a lifted 4 door on 35s looks awesome.

I also don't absolutely need 4 doors. Our one child is in college, so I am not struggling with car seats...and when I have a passenger, it's usually just my wife...and she rides up front.

My wife's vehicle is also larger, more luxurious, and what we normally take on long road trips...so long trips and storage space were not huge concerns for me...although I have taken prior Wranglers on some pretty long road trips and lived to tell the tale...and my current JKR handles better than they did.

Final thoughts:

If you are going to routinely carry more than one passenger (especially anything that will ride in a car/booster seat), get a 4 door. Don't even think twice about it. Chrysler has screwed up the JK's rear passenger access and floor pan beyond belief IMO. That said, they also included a rear seat in the 4 door that also sucks....so you'll be Googling how to fix that if you buy that 4 door.

Otherwise, it probably comes down to personal preference. They are both Wranglers....although I'll admit that it took a long time for me to come to terms with that.

You 100% miss the point and are displaying part of the reason as to why these threads always blow.

If I'm not buying a 4 door Wrangler, I'm probably not buying a Jeep at all.

That might sound fine to the "idealogically pure" on an internet forum, but I can assure to the Chrysler/Jeep/Fiat do not feel the same way.

Without the sales of the 4-doors, you might see the price of your 2-doors going up...and that is assuming they are not killed off or shipped off to China for production.

Both have their pros and cons. Why can't it be left at that and this thread locked?

I personally have a 2door just because i prefer the look of it more. The 2door is more nimble on trails and can sneak around a lot better. A 4door is more family oriented i think but thats not always the case. A 4door has a longer wheel base so it has more length to get over objects such as taller rocks while a 2door might rub. Its all preference. I personally am 19 and bought my 2013 2door for a summer cruiser. I dont have 3 kids and i dont like the look of 4 doors. The 2door to me was a no brainer. Looks sportier and i lobe the feel of no seats behind me.

Its all up to the person and there needs/ what they use it for.

Besides chicks dig 2doors

My wife and I have had the 2 door Jeep for almost a year now. It has 15,000 miles. Been to Colorado and Washington state from SoCal. Going again next month to WA. I absolutely love it. Ya packing is a PITA sometimes but my wife is the master packer. She packs I drive. Even got a hitch carrier and supplements the lack of cargo space. No more problem. Works like a charm. May get a roof rack system down the road. Been on some light trails and enjoy its responsiveness. Live in LA area, parking is rough and the Jeep slips right in. Having one more seat space would be nice though. 2 door is cheaper. May get a 4-door for second vehicle years down the road.

Love my 4 door... I have not had any issues going where all my 2 door buddies go... maybe a few 3 point turns, but besides that I feel I have an advantage with room and thats about it. I have more room to haul friends, gear, fat chicks oh wait damn that's why I lifted it, fat chicks can't jump. Anyways, I also seems to be the guy to haul my buddies crap they can't fit in their jeeps haha.

Oh and the longer wheel base seems to be better for crawling up steep inclines... seems I can get in some places the 2 doors can't because of a flipping over backwards scare they have ;-)

Seriously though... Love a Wrangler any form I can get it. I think the reason 2 door guys get all pissy is because a lot of unfamiliar people with wranglers don't wave to them in their jeeps... well if your panties are going to get in a bundle for not getting acknowledgement from another jeep... only wave to the ones with mods, not the grocery getter mall crawler soccer man school buses. :-)

None that I'm aware of. But how many are built in Japan or South Korea? A lot! That wasn't always the case. Just because none are being built there now doesn't mean in 10,20 or 30 years they won't be. Welcome to the Global community
