2008 2 door -want a hard top

I have a friend with a 2008 2 door soft top. He is interested in getting a hard top for it. Anyone with experience doing this? Is it an easy bolt on? Will he need to do any drilling? Good advice on what top to buy? Thanks for the help

Check eBay and Craigslist and the classifieds here. No drilling necessary, just bolts right on, assuming you get a factory unit. Only thing that may cause issue is if you have to install the rear defrost/wiper wiring after the fact if the Jeep doesn't have it already.

Kolector said it. They're readily interchangeable. Many folks buy the jeep with both. Other than the potential wiring for the rear window (which likely wasn't done if the jeep didn't come with a hard top), he should be able to easily remove the soft top and put on the hardtop presuming it's a factory top and it came with all the right parts. While the 2 door hard top isn't terribly heavy, it'd be best to do it with two people just for the sake of the awkwardness.

You might want to consider going after market without the freedom panels to maybe ward off any potential leak problems, unless you just gotta have them.
