2008 Wrangler Unlimited X

I just got this jeep today, on the way home it was raining really bad. When I hit the standing water it shoots staight up in front of the jeep and hits the windshield. When it does this I cant see anything. Is there anything I can do to stop this? thanks, tim

Been there and done that with many cars. It is a matter of speed and timing. golfspaz is right, slow down through standing water is the best advice. Keep the wipers going. Best to be safe rather than sorry.

Isn't that kind of the point? Turn your wipers on, grip tight to the wheel and plow through it. If I had tried that in my Mazda Protege before I bought my jeep, I would have been in deep doodoo...now...its a game to make the biggest splash!

Yes it is. Now you are talking a whole new paradigm. I was on a 4 wheeling outing with snorkel boy and there was a monster puddle. He chimed in over the CB and warned everybody and everybody said go for it. It was a very impressive show. Big smile on his face. My idea of a good time.

^GO FASTER Then it'll make an even bigger splash
In reality, either slow down, or avoid the puddles. Short of that, don't drive in rain? Not sure what you're looking for here in terms of a solution, but there's no magic rain-away product... yet... Mark W.

Rain away product? maybe youre thinking Rain-X.

Too bad it doesn't do QUITE what the name implies. Well it does...for your windshield.

Imo, if youre scared of a little washout on your windshield where (for a second or two) cant see anything...then grow some balls hehe! The first time I washed out my windshield i laughed hysterically...i had never experienced that before in my life.

I never had this problem with the Chevy Silverado. I might have been going 20 mph when I hit the standing water. It acted like the water hit the front bumper and shot straight up.

Well how deep was it? Use your wipers at full and remember that the water will soon fall off as gravity takes its course.

Next time, just smile and enjoy the splashing water.

The water might of been 2 - 3 inches deep, and the wipers were useless. The little 4 door family cars were going faster than me, it made me feel bad to see that happen. I guess it will take me alittle while to get use to it.

The Jeep windshield isn't like most cars and trucks. These are almost flat, with a slight hint of a bend. Not to mention that they're almost straight up as well. Ok... I mentioned it...

Because of this, you're going to get more bugs, more water, and more wind, hitting that windshield like a Brick Wall!

Like the others have already said, either Grip the Wheel Tightly and Slow Down... or Grip the Wheel Tightly and Speed Up to Splash the Puddles. It's A Jeep Thing! Makes me feel like a kid in a mud puddle again!

Cheers!
