2008 Wrangler wobble need assistance

Hello ladies and gents of Jeep nation. I have an 08 Wrangler Sahara 2dr. 2inch teraflex lift with 33 12.50 Dick cepeck mud country tires. Now when im driving and hit a pot hole or most bumps for that matter with my pas side front tire at 35 to 40mph it sends my truck into a violent bouncing and the steering starts ripping back n forth. To stop it I need to speed up over 40 or slow under 20. Any ideas of how to fix this

Get your caster checked - most likely too low. I was sufering the same problem with 3in lift and discovered the caster was about 3.6 degrees.

I was actually able to loosen all control arm bolts and rotate the top of the diff back within the slop of the control arm bolts then retension to spec and this increased caster to about 4.3 degrees. Problem reduced dramatically. Have since installed a set of AEV front drop brackets (not everyones ideal solution) and caster is now just over 5 degrees.

Rides very nicely now.

If you dont fix it, the wobble will quite rapidly deteriorate your joints (trac bar bushes, tie rod ends, ball joints etc) and you will end up with full blown death wobbles and will have to replace everything.

Just to make sure none of this has happened yet, crawl under and have someone rock the steering wheel bout 1/2 a turn (1/4 turn each way) and check all joints for any movement.

Why did you wait too long to fix it?The longer you wait it would cause other components to prematurely wear.Check out all the bolts up front like tie rod, trackbar, control arms, draglink and pitman arm.Check the trackbar mount also to make sure you dont have a crack. When i had DW i never had a warning it just shook so violently that the trackbar mount un the driver side cracked.

The two front most bars are supposed to have up and down movement.

Sloppy is no good.

It all allows the steering and suspension to
work together.

Think I have that right

Ok cool. One part is now leaking some grease...
I finaly have good news. I got blastEd by a car a month or so back and the geico adjuster sent me to a geico shop. Replaces all front end components new axle ect. They never alignEd the froNT or adjusted castor which is leading to all this misfortune. Apparently gieco insures all their fixes and told me to drop the truck off ...
No wobble before gieco fix so its most likely a problem on their end. Ill find put tomorrow

By "got blasted", I presume you mean you were in a accident? What exactly happened?

As for the movement, the tie rod (the rod that runs between both wheels) does rotate by hand (lifts up and down) but should be tight enough that if you push it up it will stay in place. Same for the drag link (the rod between the steering box and the passenger side wheel) as for the movement, but both rods at both ends should not have any sideways or up/down movement when the steering is rocked back and forth like I mentioned above.

Also, the track bar (runs from the axle to the chassis) should have no movement int he bolts or bushes at either end when doing the same test. Quite possibly they have not torqued the bolts to the correct settings, or possibly had the suspension at full droop on stands or a rack when they did it all back up (as oposed to having it sitting with full weight on the wheels when re-tensioning).

The reason I questioned what happened in the accident is it would give an insight as to what they may have replaced/undone etc.

A drunk driver ran a red light hit my driver side tire and steel bumper. His door was torn open and a drunk passenger not wearing a seatbelt fell out of the veh. No one seriously injured. They replaced everything track bars axle thr elbow everything.. and may not been aware of the lift. In fact I just dropped off the truck and they dont know how to deal with lifts . My bushels are torn and they are a month old...o n my year old tereflex shocks are all cracked now. So geico is covering their fix to the fullest.. When I get my veh back I will post the results. Hopefully it will be fixed....
