2009 Jeep Wrangler X "extended warranty"????

I just picked up a 2009 Jeep Wrangler X and am loving it! The dealership offered me an extended warranty for $1900 with 100k coverage. First some background you should know; I do not work on cars and have no idea what the heck is going on them, I am not going to be doing too much off roading since it will be my primary means of transportation. With that being said, what is everyone's thoughts, good deal or not?

Just wanted to say thanks in advance for the help!!

I'd say no. That's just me.

There's no hurry. You can buy it at just about any time before your standard factory warranty expires. I just got an offer from my dealer this week, and I've had my Jeep over a year.

Is yours modified, or soon-to-be modified...?

This is my thinking:

Don't do it.

From a personal standpoint, I've NEVER bought the added insurance on a product – television, dvd player, motorcycle, Jeep – and have never had cause to regret doing so.

But...there are folks on here who'd swear by it.

It's a very subjective thing. If you think you'll have a need for it, honestly...

The reason I ask about mods is this: my Jeep is highly modded. Those mods would, in many instances, negate any repairs I would claim under the "extended warranty" rubric.

It varies according to dealership, of course. Mine is very cool with mods, and would probably cover an axle, despite my lift. Other dealerships might not be so generous...

I do not believe in extended warranties, because most, but not all are big rip-offs!
Most of them are sold through insurance companies, and these companies are not in business to lose money...........

This^ they will try and f you over at every chance they get. Even with the factory warranty they do. Especially if you want to mod your jeep.

Thats what I figured, they wouldn't offer it if they would lose money. I was just worried because I went to a 4x4 shop and they told me that the 2009 has a really terrible front end. They said the ball joints always go, which isn't a big deal. They also said the whole front end goes in some of them also. They said this repair would cost upwards of $2500.
