A skid bar is what your suppose to have. Chrysler went to a bar instead of plate. A lot of fuss over nothing.

The skid bar and the skid plate have different part numbers...I just spent 2 hours going throught the computer with the mopar parts guy...if your build sheet lists transmission oil pan skid plate then you are supposed to have the plate as it would seem. This is applied to the 2007-2010 JK. As for the 2011 since it underwent re-tooling I am not exactly sure how it applies

Well at this point I have exactly what matches the Jeep website and since I won't be in the dirt much (for now...) I'm all set with it. I plan on upgrading everything later on anyway. But... I still appreciate everyone's info.

2 skid plates only

I just bought a 2011 Wrangler Sport 2 door. Only 2 skid plates over the gas tank and trans case. Checked with dealer who checked with Chrysler. That's all they come with. No third skid plate under trans.

I would still obtain your build sheet from Chrysler...it is free and you never know what you might find...Good to know all the equipment you got

I guess I am lost! Everyone talks about getting a “Build Sheet” from Chrysler. Who do you actually call and at what number? Many thanks.

I went to jeep because of the skid plate missing and they said they don't know what part number it is? Does anyone have the exact part number of the transmission skid plate?

Get your build sheet and make sure you aren't supposed to have the plate...although as I said before I am not sure how this applies to 2011's

Well my window sticker says..."4 spd auto trans/Hill descent control/Auto transmission skid plate" (oh yeah with an add-on price of $825.00)

Seems like I should have gotten a "plate" and not a "bar"....

Mcgyver, I think we (2011) gave up the plate to cool the automatics down, I've got the 6spd. But if u got the Detonator Yellow, u knocked it out of the park, I had a contract written on a black jeep & when I got to the dealer (in Ga) & saw your color that was it. Be thankful they didn't hit u up for 1000.00 for that color, its worth it!!

Thanks Slypops! It was a no brainer the second we saw it......Started with a "Call for Booty(Duty)" edition.....didn't have anything but the fuel door and tail lamp guards and some stickers. Didn't end up liking it too much....saw the Yellow Rubicon and had the gotta have it moment! I'll post some pics soon...doing mirror relocates today so the doors can stay off for awhile. I figured we'll just cruise while the motor is getting broke in!
Love this thing and don't know why I didn't get one years ago!

Mine is missing also. A few weeks ago I went into a ditch and water got into the intake I threw 2 rods and had 2 holes in the bottom of my block. Could the damage be caused by something hitting the bottom busting the block bc my skid plate was not there? All I know is it was $8,200 damage to replace the short block, reface the heads, and clean the other parts. My insurance covered it but now wondering if something else beside water caused the damage and would the manufacture should be some what copable for the damage. I will be voicing my concern to them tomarrow.

52022134AC supersedes to 68083042AA, so the latter is the current part #. MSRP for the U.S. is $77.85.

Sooooooooo....The dealership gets my Jeep for the day to "investigate" this missing skid plate issue. Tech tells me there is no part # for a plate on a 2011...just the bar and they can't do anything. I explain my build sheet says skid plate; but no help. So i guess I'm on my own and going to get the Skid Row plate.

I called chrysler and talked to a very nice woman who took the part numbers I gave her from this thread. She called my dealer and got them to order the parts for me. The dealer told her that my vin number didn't show a tranny skid plate, but the Chrysler woman said it was on her computer under my vin number and that I am entitled to the skid plate because I paid for it when I bought the car. The dealer will call me when parts are in. The woman also said she will call me on Monday to check on the status of the parts with the dealer! I feel they will fix it. Definitely call chrysler and get them involved. Let me know if I can help

Nope it's not. I checked the part numbers with the dealer diagrams and it will be the plate and wider bar to accept the plate, just like on the 2010.

just an fyi, the "bar" is welded on in a location, that bond will actually have to be broken to get an earlier part to work there, and i dont know if the current frame/underbody is ready to accept the older design plate.

If I'm not mistaken the bar that's there now stays on and the new bar and plate bolt on over it. I'm not 100 % on that though. I guess I will find out when they get the parts. Others have it installed on this forum. I wonder what they say?

I removed my skid bar on my 11 wrangler, and it just unbolts with 3 bolts. I installed a aluminum extra capacity finned cooling pan and the bar was in the way somewhat so I removed it, then put it back on after the install. If you think you gota have the super reknowned, infamous SKID PLATE then the lowly bar must be removed and scraped and you just need to look at a 9 or 10 model with the skid plate, use the vin from this vehicle and order the new plate and cross member that supports it. It looks to me like there is 2 holes on either side of the new plate cross support instead of one that is on the skid bar. I think the frame holes are already there with a nut welded in place. I am very happy with my skid bar as it is new and improved, lighter weight, ie saves gas, thus easier on the planet, let's my trany run cooler, especially with my new FANGLED super duper high capacity aluminum fined cooling pan special ordered in black with milled edges on the fins. I however may sue Chyrsler because when their collage educated engineers (maybe) did away with the holy SKID PLATE they left the extra holes and nuts in my frame which now as useless as tits on a boor hog. Now my jeep is somewhat southern engineered as Chrysler did not design and build a frame that would not support the old fashion, forgotten trany roasting SKID PLATE. I may need mental help to overcome my grief and anguish, and maybe a small settlement of about 3 to 5 hundred thousand would help me with this pain and suffering.

I just want what I paid for. It's not the money, but the principal. I don't think I will ever need the dam skid plate, but I want it if it was included in my package.

For all the front driveshafts the skid plate has torn up, I am surprised that anyone would want it. There is a reason why there are aftermarket tranny pans and skid plates after all.
