2010 4door Rubicon - yes or no??

Hi All,

I am new to the forum and I have been debating a new jeep for years, I have always wanted one and up until I drove the 4 door recently I didn't think it was possible.

I live in San Jose CA and I think it would be awesome to have one. Only problem is that this would be my main vehicle. I current't drive an Infiniti G35 and the change will be big. I commute about 20 miles each way daily.

I recently got married and a new puppy, family will be a few years down the road. My G is just too small for the dog and I have no room. I want a fun car and not just another SUV you see on the road.

Please give me your advice...should I do it. I have always dreamt of a jeep...getting excited!

Thanks!

AG

I say do it! I have an 07 2dr Sahara and I dont regret it at all! The only thing I would change is I would've gotten a 4dr since I also am thinking into the future with family issues in mind. Okay, maybe I will get the Rubi next time too haha.

Go for it!!! I traded my BMW in for mine a few years ago and haven't looked back. I loved the BMW . . . it was a great car, comfortable on long trips, handled great, etc . . . the Jeep isn't the most comfortable and it handles like crap in comparison, but the ability to go offroad opens up a whole new world.

thanks!! How about the drive...I truly don't mind roughing it a bit but then again I have only driven one for abuot 2 weeks in Maui and test driven here and there. Am I going to hate it, or is it a minor detail compared to all the fun we will have?

Dont be afraid.... I have owned mine a little over a year and put over 27k on the clock. Longest trip was from the coast of VA to Hot Spings Arkansas, straight through and really had no problems, even with a fused back. You won't have any regrets, except for not doing it

If you are as happy with it as I am with mine you will not regret it. On trips mine is as comfortable as a sedan & off road it is a lot of fun

I bought an 08 Sahara new and have never regretted it. I have 2 other vehicles in the garage that I can choose to drive and I still grab the Jeep keys.

Do it!
I traded in my 98 Cobra drop top, have never looked back.

You will of course soon have a severe addiction that you'll be feeding, but that's a whole 'nother thread.

Buy a Rubicon, get the factory front disconnects. Trust me, you'll wish you had, if you don't.

Then, find a local Jeep club, and go out for a weekend. Your life will never be the same once you experience an all day adrenalin rush - at 3mph.

Sounds like you don't need any help making your mind up.... I would go with a 2 door though since it's just you, the wifey and fido for a few years. Trade it for a four door when you start your family.

Dude, I am only 23 and I already own my dream car, and don't see anything in the future to muck it up. I drive mine on a 4hour round trip commute two times a week. The only trouble I EVER have is deciding to leave the top on, or take it down. No worries man. Get a Jeep. The rest of your life will come around to it. And yeah... that addiction thind is REAL!

I'm picking up my first next week and can't wait...it's on order! Wifey and I have been waiting for years and the timing is finally right. I got the 4 door though, I have 3 kids. My 5 year old daughter already has her Barbie Wrangler and can't wait to get the top and doors off the real thing. My wife already wants to get it lifted and get some beefier tires...I LOVE MY FAMILY!

You will enjoy that 20 mile ride like never before. Especially with the top down and doors off! I'm in sales and I drive my 2DR each and every day and I love it. It will be a year old next month and I've put 18K on it so far.

Trade the car. I traded an 07 Acura TL for an 06 Wrangler X. I did not regret the decision. I just recently traded my 06 for an 07 Unlimited Rubicon. I still do not miss my Acura. It was a great car, but nothing can compare to a Wrangler. Especially when the top is off.

When you get it, don't forget to at us.

I am on my 5th Wrangler and love all of them. We just traded in a Volvo XC90 and bought a 2010 4 door and love it. 20mpg and very smooth riding. We got the hard top with the front panels that come off. The dogs love it too.

Hey, you only live once, go for it. I personally do not care for the 4dr, but you need what you need. The nice thing about our rides is that resale is good and there is never a shortage of people looking for a Jeep.

I had the 08 Sahara Unlimited (4 door) for almost a year and and now the Rubicon Unlimited. The Sahara had a slightly better ride I attribute to the heavy duty suspension on the Rubicon. I actually prefer the ride of the Rubicon over the Sahara. It juggles my bones a little more but I consider that part of the fun of the ride. I commute 15 miles per day and put a lot of miles on playing the "soccer dad" for my son who runs Xcountry in the fall, skis slalom competitively in winter and plays lacrosse all as a freshman in high school and all of that requires a lot of travelling to see him compete. Since August of 08 when I took delivery, I have put 30,000 miles on it. All of them fun miles. Long trips, short trips, comfortable to drive. I also enjoy the standard transmission...I think it adds to the fun of driving it.

I just came back from Cape Cod after a week of bicycle riding and other activities all over the cape. As I was leaving the cape a new group was arriving at the camp-ground with about 30 bicycles. As I was passing buy my jeep became the topic of discussion about how cool it was. I'm always getting comments from people about what a cool vehicle it is.

The Rubicon is especially useful off the pavement. I don't do a lot of off road compared to on road as this is my daily driver but when it is off road I drive with confidence that I won't get stuck. As it gets older, I'll probably take it off road more. I am planning on doing mods that will improve it's off road capabilities. Some items on the short list are bumpers with tow points and winch, armor, and maybe a small lift.

I don't have young children but chose the 4 door for its stability, cargo carrying capacity and most importantly because of its towing capacity of 3500 lbs which I use to the max. I have a covered 8X10 utility trailer which is loaded with my camping gear and I go kayaking, biking, scuba diving and do a lot of other activities in the summer. In winter, driving to various skiing venues, in all kinds of winter conditions, the jeep performed admirably. One day in icy conditions, cars and trucks were off of the road in all directions but the jeep held the road (going slow of course). I can't say enough about the feeling of driving it except you can probably see a glimpse of the happiness in my smile as I drive it.

Get the jeep and don't look back. I haven't looked back at all, just forward to the next good time to be experienced in the great outdoors.

BTW, welcome to the forum.
