Exclamation 2010 JK Brake Lines

Hello WF Members:

I just got my 2010 JK 2 door sport 2 days ago,, " New from dealer". I came home from work, and went out to get food, I notice fluid on the driveway when I came back. I looked under my JK and noticed that the whole rear of the jeep was covered with brake fluid comming from the passenger " rear" brake right where the 2 metal connections meet at the caliber. The reason for not seeing the fluid when I left my driveway was because the fluid is collecting inside the rim and acting like a catch pan, as the wheels turn centrifugal force pushes the fluid all over my chasis.

My brake fluid level is a little lower than the min line. I will be calling the dealer in the morn to come get their jeep for service. I suggest to the new JK owners especially the 2010's to check their brake lines, where the stainless fittings connect to the calibers. After checking my other 3 wheels , the connection to the caliber where the leak is , does seem to be not seated correctly. Hopefully this is a freak thing. New Jeep and already need to take time off work.

I only have 240 miles on the odo. And my jeep is only a highway rig, no offroading at all. I will keep everyone posted on how Chrysler handles my issue at the Dealer.

Chrysler has a recall on this currently, here is the press report. You can run your VIN number on their website and see if your model if affected but I think you already know the answer.

ESP123 : Thanks for the FYI. Do the dealers usually have the parts on hand? Guessing if they need to hold the vehicle, they will give me a loaner at their expense? I appreciate your input.

They should be able to do everything on site for your Jeep. Just ask them for a loaner if they don't first offer to you. I had them check mine too for the same thing to see if my Jeep was part of the recent recall. It wasn't but they offered me a loaner without any hesitation while we were talking if my Jeep needed to be there for a bit. Hope yours turns out safe and gets back to you soon.
