2010 Rubicon Help

Hey everyone, I am new on here. I became part of the Wrangler club about 3 months ago when I bought my first, a 2010 Rubicon.

Anyways, just today I was getting some brief sputtering/bogging when trying to accelerate after shifting gears(I have the 6 speed). This is frustrating considering my baby has only 1900 miles on it.

Anyone have any insight?

Thanks,

Tom

What RPM were you shifting at? You didn't accidently skip a gear did you? You could easily bog down and lug the engine if you meant to shift to 3rd but hit 5th instead for example.

the most obvious to me, at least around these parts is fuel quality/water. Did you fuel at your usual stop? were their tanks nearly empty when they took a delivery, or nearly empty when you filled up?

I'd toss some dry gas in to see if you still experience the problem (water in the fuel), following that, considering contaminated fuel (particulates), I'd swap out the fuel filter.

Still an issue? go to Jeep and have them look to see if your throwing codes - its free and if it's a problem with the powertrain, it will tell you exactly what you need.

I have a 2010 Rubi also ... love the little skateboard

Another issue no one has mentioned is everyone's favorite (NOT!)- e-throttle. If there is an actual sputter, check your fuel. If it's just bogging down, it's the traction control/ESP suite. In order to preserve axles, it cuts the nuts off of the engine. Really. It's also to help you in low-traction situations, so you don't spin the tires- Mark W.

Power band is above 2K rpms. If I'm passing, I downshift two gears many times especially if I'm in sixth gear. Sometimes when I'm in fifth. I travel a mountain pass a lot where I have to be in third in order to maintain good torque. It is something that has taken some getting used to in my jeep but have had better results after adjusting my listening ability to hear the rpms without looking at the gauges too much.
