Question 2010 Safari Top

Ok...got the Bestop Safari top for my 2010 4dr JK. Bit of a pain to put on compared to a bikini on a CJ, but managed to do it. Question...are you supposed to remove the soft top door surrounds when using the Safari top? Those clips on top of the surrounds that grab the soft top bars on a 2010 stick up underneath the Safari top and it doesn't seem right. Instructions don't make any mention of the surrounds or that they should be removed.

Any thoughts?

Hans

Doesnt it have an edge that goes in the channel of the door surrounds? I have a smittybilt and it works both ways...in the channels or just velcroed with the straps.

The 2010 soft top has these spring things built in...the top no longer goes into a channel like it used to. I'll have to double check, but I don't think the door surrounds even have a channel anymore.

If it is anything like the Bestop Mesh - I had the same observations. However, the mesh top did come with little faux leather tabs that protected the fabric from the clips. The 2010 model does not utilize the edge channels - the soft top was re-designed. It is apain to get the mesh top taunt.

Yup...that's the problem. Those tabs that hold the soft top hardware stick up from the door surrounds between 1-2 inches and looks like crap with the Safari top on...hard to get it on right and then there's the 'bulge' on each side from those tabs.
