2010 sport Wrangler shift failure?

I have a 2010 Wrangler Sport with 5000 miles. Twice now on cool mornings the engine rpm's run high, like the trans isn't shifting into high/overdrive or stuck in second/third. The tow button is not depressed. Upon stopping and cycling back to park then to drive did not correct the issue, however after turning the ignition off and restarting it, it operated normally. Has anyone ever heard of this? And what is the cause/cure?
Thanks for the help!

Most current automatic transmissions need a little time or driving distance to warm up the fluid a little before normal upshifts can occur. My motor home's Allison automatic works this way. I have to drive slowly for two or three blocks before it will upshift to the next gear. My 2001 BMW worked the same way as I recall. I think your tranny is doing what it is supposed to do when cold. Just take it easy for the first few minutes or blocks. BTW, it will probably take a little longer on a really cold morning.

Good luck.

I park in my garage, and this has not been an issue for me.

This happened to me first time this morning. Remote start for a few minutes then drove at least 2 miles. Engine and tranny were plenty warmed up. Had to pull over to side and re-start engine and then all was o.k.. Weather was in the high 30s. I hope there is an answer to this one. 2009 sahara. 8000 miles.

2010 Wrangler Sport shifting problem

I have just begun to encounter the same "shifting" problem into high gear. It has happened several times in the past few weeks. I am able to rectify the siuation by pulling over and turning the Jeep off and restarting.

Any ideas???
