2010 wrangler automatic overdrive button

I've done some searching and all I get find as that this is fairly common no help really.
I've had my jeep for about 3 weeks now and for my normal everyday driving and comute having the overdrive on makes sence and is a no brainer. went for a drive yesterday and having the "OD off" would have been nice for the roads I was using.

the button seems to be caked in crud and feels solid when I try to push it, I don't know if it's supposed to sit proud or what but it's flush with the bezel.

what i'm hoping to find out is how to take the center unit apart to get to the button to either clean it up or replace it
any help would be AWESOME.

Button should be flush. Think four screws hold console down

thank you, i'm relieved to know the button isn't "stuck" down since it is a momentary switch, I don't think being help on would be great for it.
will search the consol for screws, I'm just wanting to approach this cautiously and not damage anything

after asking Hercules to remove the transfer case shift knob for me and removing the 4 screws that hold in the center console I realised the black portion of the center consol with the cup holders is only snapped into place, this is all that needs to be removed (I started in the center storage area) will report back, probably just going to solder in a new momentary button as the factory one doesn't look user serviceable, bummer.

Perhaps a silly question. But can I go between drive and overdrive on the fly?
