It isn't just the 10 model. It was just the 10 model fire that got attention. There has been I think 23 reported over various model years of the JK. Even a 2012 has been reported. There has been over 400,000 made and 23 fires. So no not really worried myself. There is an investigation though.

There are three threads on this just this week

If only there were a dozen or more prior threads on this exact same topic, some from this week . . . .

There are some theories, but the leader right now I believe is overheating auto transmission fluid. If you have a 2007 through 2011 auto transmission, you have nothing to lose by installing a transmission cooler. It's much cheaper and easier than it sounds, and there are several threads with "how to" pictures and descriptions. I believe some folks have even gotten dealers to do it free-of-charge. If overheating auto trans fluid is really the issue, then this will solve it and you'll have nothing to worry about.

Manual transmissions got nothing to worry about in any event as far as I know.

2009 fire and they claim electrical caused it

And heres a 2008

The 2008 mentions something about tranny fluid leaking on exhaust in posts

Yes, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the "real" culprit it's:

(Random vehicle fires that happen to some extent to all vehicles, probably due to electrical defects) + (Auto trans fluid issues) = (Oddly high number of fires and resulting investigation)

In other words, my gut tells me most of these are auto trans fluid issues. Sometimes you'll find the random one that's not, but, for the most part, it's the auto transmissions.

I haven't done any research of course, I just know that the 2007 through 2011 autos had poor cooling from the factory and I've read that as being affirmatively blamed for at least some fires, so I don't see why it wouldn't cause more. But I could certainly end up being proven wrong.

Well, I did the Auto cooler mod 3 months after buying mine just in case. Who knows but it never hurts to be safe. Now Jeep has done a Technical Bulletin to check the Transmission lines going to the radiator for leaks and replacing the lines if any signs of weakness or failure. Not sure if this is related to any of this but they have at least done this. The failure suppose to be where the flex line meets the metal line. I got a letter on this several months ago to take my Jeep in and have it checked.

Let it burn, I'd love a new Rubicon in my driveway.

Not overly worried, I just hope should the worst happen, I'd have time to get out.

I was slightly worried, only because I don't want to lose my first Jeep. I'm gonna have it checked out at the dealer just in case, it's due for a visit anyway.

I've been toting a bag of chocolate and marshmallows lately, so if mine goes up I can make s'mores while waiting for the wrecker to show up.

Good to be prepared.

In 2010 Chryslaer issued a recall (J30) to "flash" 07/08/09 JK/JKUs ecm and install the "Hot OIL Warning" dash sign-this one is based on dipstic tube spewing oil on the passenger side exhaust manifold !

They also issued a K13, I thinkit was for "weeping" tranny lines, at the forward line/rubber vibration joint-

For 2012 it seems that they've finally solved the problem ()
they provide each JK/JKU/auto/w an AUX COOLER, but keep the same original POS cooler in the A/C condenser-

You did see the 2012 on fire above? The 12 model isn't immune either it looks like. I wouldn't say you don't need to worry but rather there is better things to worry about
