2011 dented hood

Even before I could put 3000 miles on my 2011 2door wrangler I have some body damage. I was visiting a few friends and after coming outside to leave the next morning there was a large dent in my hood. It seems like someone through a chair off of a balcony and it landed right on my hood (could have been a lot worse). I was able to pop out the large dent just by pushing on the inside of the hood but now there are three small dents and a few scuff marks. I was thinking about just leaving the dents in the hood but after thinking about it more I would rather get it fixed.
Can anyone offer any advice or have any idea how much this could cost to be fixed (a ballpark would be great)? Should I take it to the dealership or find a body shop? Thanks in advance everyone!

don't go to the dealer unless insurance is covering it, unless you want to just buy a hood and replace the whole thing, which I'd recommend... by the time you pay for labor on repairs at any shop, you could probably have bought two hoods. it's 4 bolts to replace the hood, and you won't have any body filler, uneven finish, or anything else, and being a 2011, the color should still be dead on with a new one.

The scuff marks might buff out. I would use a paintless dent removal company for the rest. I've used that for other vehicles with great results. Could not detect that there was a repair at all. If a body shop doesn't paint the hood properly it will never be right.

BTW- Did you find the chair? I'd like to know who's apt was missing a chair. In addition, I'd file a police report.....those d-bags could have killed someone!

Replaced my Tj's hood and the dealership painted it. Don't remember the cost.

Somebody in CT is selling a black rubicon hood (like it makes a diff) for $400.

The JK's hood is thin as hell and unlike my Tj hood will not except someones but sitting on it

I did find the chair but wasn't able to find out who did it. It seems like I lucked out with the chair hitting my hood because it would have been a lot worse if it hit my soft top! I didn't file a police report or submit a claim to my insurance because my insurance it just starting to go down from my poor driving record when I was a stupid teenager and I didn't want to give them any reason to raise my rates.

I always wanted a Jeep Wrangler and I was finally able to buy one new after getting my first job out of college. I don't understand how people find it fun to damage other peoples property.

And driving a black Rubicon, I've been seriously considering one.

Go to an auto parts store--they sell a $20.00 dent removal kit that gives outstanding results. It uses suction cups and a hot glue gun. If your dents aren't too big, it might be worth giving it a try.

It would be covered under comprehensive. Comprehensivve claims do not affect your rates.

I ordered an AEV hood a couple weeks ago and I am waiting for it to come in. I believe you now have a reason to do the same. You can even order them painted to match.

I had hood damage but from a hail storm. Got insurance to pay for a new one and upgraded to the AEV heat reduction hood and love it. $856 shipped but unpainted at Northridge4x4.

You notice any difference withit?

I mean my Rubicon is black and when I open the hood on a hot day it's scorching hot
My temp gauge remains the same but I can feel the jeep starving for cooler air, I def feel a loss is performance. Was wondering if a heat reduction hood or louvers (vents) would help at all?
Next spring I'll be looking, its cooler out now and all is well

Never really checked before and after heat but I do know that hot air pours out the vents and you could cook eggs on the stainless steel vents

The main reason I didn't go with the pre-painted hoods was that many on other boards that bought the pre-painted complained about scratches after they got it. Also Quad's shipping cost is outrageous for this hood.

Got mine here, free shipping

I just described the size of the dents to a local paintless dent removal company and they quoted me between $150-$200. I am going to call the dealership in a few hours...maybe they will cut me a deal because I just bought my jeep last month...probably not.

The first time I parked our 2012 in the garage I noticed heat radiating off the Wrangler like crazy. No indication of an overheat while driving, but man, it was like standing next to a radiator. Maybe something to do with the relatively small engine compartment I guess...

Anyone know what it would cost (ballpark) to have the jeep dealership paint the hood if you ordered it unpainted?

I've noticed the same heat, but mostly I just want that AEV hood! Plus it'll give me a head start on a snorkel!

I would stick with that. That's actually a good price. The dealer will call a pdr company. Cut out the middle man and arrange it yourself. Most will come to your residence/business and do it.

This should not raise your rates. This is a claim under your comprehensive coverage (rock chip in the windshield, deer using you for a tackling dummy, somebody knifing your soft top to steal CDs, etc.)

As long as you don't have 2-3 of these type of claims within 5 years of each other, you're in good shape.
