2011 Jeep Wrangler

Okay so I just wanted to get a couple of thoughts. I work in sales at a Jeep dealership and am going to be buying a Rubicon Unlimited. I've talked to a couple guys around the dealership about the new V-6 and they don't think it is going to be in the 2011 JK. Just wanted to know if anyone has heard anything at all about it. I hate to wait to buy one but I would be pissed if the new V-6 comes out the same year I buy one.

This topic has been hit on SEVERAL times- next time, please try a search.

To recap: the new V6 is the "Pentastar." It'll be in the new Grand Cherokee starting next year. NOT the Wrangler. That is slated for MAYBE 2013.
Also, I NEVER recommend buying a vehicle with a first-year engine, trans, etc. There are ALWAYS teething problems, and even though it'd be under warranty, not having a vehicle for days-weeks at a time SUCKS- Mark W.

What kind of deal are you going to be giving yourself on that 2011 Rubi?

You want undercoating and Scotchguard with that? How about an extended warranty?

Well funny enough I would buy the extended warranty but only after the factory one was up. I tend not to keep things long enough to get extra warranty coverage but...if I did keep it past the 3/36 I would.

I can save you money if you buy it today. It will pay for itself several times over just in the peace of mind that should anything go wrong, as little a chance as that may be, you'll be covered. How does that sound? I'll just add that in for you now, okay?

Give the guy a break. He's smart enough to know that you can never get a straight answer from a car salesman, even when it's himself!

lol man you guys have to know that they don't tell dealers or sales guys about upcoming product changes until they are about to happen. I figured most people on this forum know more about Jeeps then I do. Not to bash myself but most people that buy Jeep Wranglers really don't plan on going off the road with it. If you just spill out a bunch of product knowledge to the normal wrangler buyer you are just going to scare them. I would say out of 100 buyers maybe 10% ask a question that is related to taking the Jeep off road. Most buyers want to know if it is a 4x4, top comes off and can they go for a ride. Thats about it. The difference between a car salesmen that knows everything about everything is about 40k a year vs the dumb guy that just focus on the wants and needs of the customer and not loading them up with a bunch of extra info they dont care about in the first place. That guy sells more cars and makes 100k a year so I really don't mind being called dumb when it comes to certain things. But hey on the bright side of things I have decided to just buy a 2010 Rubi!! I will post some pics when I get the Jeep in.

Ha, Ha...when we were looking to buy our jeep my wife went on a test drive with the salesman and he came back white as a sheet and my wife was laughing. She wanted to see how it performed off road and kept trying to take it into ditches and fields and was freaking the poor sales guy out. And my wife was completely serious, she wanted to know how it performs off road since that's why you buy it. I'm afraid I'm gonna be stuck with the minivan.

Anyway, I did notice that we tended to know more about the jeeps then the sales guys...one guy even handed us off to somebody else as soon as we told him we were looking at Wranglers. He said Wrangler buyers tend to know a lot more then other buyers when they come in and that he couldn't answer our questions. I appreciated the honesty.

Sales person coming along for the test drive = no sale from me. We bought my wife's Liberty and my Wrangler from the same guy. Both times he handed us the keys and said, "See you when you get back."

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Unlimited coming with a Hemi option soon. They'll keep the six though. They have no reason to get rid of the 3.8. Its only been in the JK for a few years, And performs well and has been working just fine in a handful of other chrysler vehicles.

We could debate sales all day. I just want to know what the 2011 is going to be.. If you look at Jeep's five year plan it shows that the Wrangler will get a makeover with a new powertrain.

As posted on allpar.com
"""At Jeep, Grand Cherokee leads. Compass and Patriot are having new exteriors for 2010, Wrangler will “retain its rightful spot as the icon for this legendary brand.” Exterior styling will be modified and a dramatic new interior will be put in; a new powertrain will go in for 2011. 2011 is Jeep’s 70th anniversary and special editions will be made for each model. In 2013 Patriot, Compass, and Liberty will be replaced by vehicles “developed from Fiat platforms” which we are promised will still have the Jeep DNA — small SUV, C-size SUV, Liberty replacement."""
Read the whole thing
The Chrysler Five Year Plan

So again I think there is going to be some big changes in the 2011 model but only time will tell.

Just to throw it out there when I test drove 2 jeeps up in north fla they actually drove me to an open field on a hill with a small pond handed me the keys and said just don't kill me! I took that guy through it all that day what an afternoon! Unfortunately that was 2 years ago and I didn't buy my jeep till this year. Bit I'm sure that guy gets some serious wrangler sales with that approach

I had a guy stop on the lot last week with a 6.1 SRT8 Hemi jammed in his unlimited. You could just hear the thing pull up on the lot. We got to talking and he works in a body shop. Bought a kit for like 6k got a motor from the junk yard and the srt seats. He welded in the srt seats and the Jeep just looks crazy.. He is going to stop back by soon so I can take some pictures and make a video of it for our showroom. I want to say the whole thing cost him like 12k. I might be off a grand here or there. He did the labor himself.

Go to youtube there is several videos of the new 4 door wrangler with the hemi in it. I am waiting for Jeep to bring the Diesel motor from over seas to the US. It will take over the four wheelin rock crawling market. Can you say torque

Bought my 2010 two months ago... love it... I did buy the glass warranty pkg Jeep offered as it would replace the windshield for life. I did so tongue in cheek as I had a 98 Wrangler for 12 yrs and never had a windshield crack. Third day out with the 2010.... and Whack O.... State Patrol going to fast for no reason threw a rock and Ko'd my windshield. They came out the next day and fixed it right up-so maybe consider it as a good investment

It has been confirmed that the new 2011 WILL have the new V-6 along with a HEMI Option along with a new diesel that will be supplied by CAT. CAT and chrysler worked out a deal for them to supply the diesels for the JK's. Good move.
