2011 Jeep Wrangler accident queston

We got a new 2011 R.H.D. jeep wranger for mail del. My wife had a small accident and the rear section of the removal had top needs to be replaced. The body shop say they will not be able to get this until Sept. the 8th.
I have not thought to ask him if this is a genuine jeep part or a aftermarket part. I will call him first thing in the morning.

Does anyone know if this part would even be available on the aftermarket yet. If I remember the T.V. commercial right I do have the right to have it fixed with jeep parts, Is this correct?

Hard top?

You mean it can be fixed? I would think the whole top would be replaced. Mopar parts are awfully expensive and don't think they make "replacement" parts--I could be wrong. Even the aftermarket tops are different then OEM so I would think they would have to go factory.

Hard top was probably the wrong word, it is the one that has three sections and it looks like it is fiberglass, not the one that looks like tent material, but also not hard solid metal like most hard top cars.

I thought I was talking about the hard top, I am not sure anymore. Maybe hard shell cover.

Yes, it seems you are talking Hard Top. With a Jeep Wrangler there are two options- hard top (like you describe- three peices, fiberglass) and a soft top. There is no metal top Wrangler so yes, hard top is what you want.

There are aftermarket hard tops but this is what one said: Produced Using OEM Materials - Produced Using OEM Specifications

So if it was me I would make sure this is a official Mopar Jeep Hard Top Part.

This is a company who sells the official Mopar Jeep part. http://www.quadratec.com/products/11190_31XX_PG.htm

NOte- this is for a four door 2011 Jeep- not sure if you have two door or four.

Phew lol- was unsure.

My point was, if the top is damaged, I'm not to sure it can be repaired. Hopefully they just cut a check to replace the whole top. Unless a garage-through insurance can get a Oem top for less.

It's not FIBERGLASS and it can't be STRUCTURALLY REPAIRED--only chips and thats cosmetic only !!

Ya needa new main body, you should be able to reuse the "T" tops !!

Good luck

Well, the only aftermkt parts would be Hinges/glass/seals/twistlocks--but I can't imagine anything for the ACTUAL main body structure--

It's a chemically bonded/heated/textured/voided---single unit--

I think some guys have done FIBERGLASS corner repairs to theirs, but the actual POLY??doesn't conform with epoxy/fiber glass bonding !!

Just throwit away and getta Bestop !!

Check CL, ebay, for sale sections etc. for a take off hard top to replace yours. It'll be less expensive than a new one, and yes, it takes a while to get a new one.

This would be great. I see pristine tops for sale a lot. Hope you have the option to buy on your own-- and not a shop

Thanks for the advice and help, I was unable to find a used one, so I will just have to wait on the body repair shop to get me a new one. I think the total cost is around 2800.00 dollars and I have 1000.00 dollar deductable.
