I have the same problem on the drivers side, it's at the dealers for the second time, they changed the seals the last time , it didn't work, they said they traced it to the fender took the fender off and said it was running down the b pillar, doesn't make sense to me but they said they were sure that's where it was coming from, supposed to get back tomorrow

Just got mine last week and I'm dealing with the same issue. Four tries and the Jeep goes back and I get another.

Of the many little inuendos, I had heard of the "leaking" problems prior to my purchase, so after taking the doors off-I traced the "INSIDE" of the upper hinges, with a felt-tip pen and then loosened the three 13mm bolts-moved the hinge (approx 1/16" INWARD-then retighened the bolts--this-in effect-compressed the UPPER gaskets-a little more !

That made all the doors a little harder to close-than when stock, but

Now, after almost 3 years, no leaks or air noises !!

Now, you probably don't think you should have to do that for a 30K vehicle thats NEW--I guess, it's just how long you wanna leaveit at a dealers service dept--

The first thing they ALWAYS do, is replace the upper front door gaskets-SOP-

Sometimes it works-usually it doesn't--

This is a 99% awesome vehicle, you just gotta treatit like a redheaded stepchild !!

After the brand new jeeps carpet got soaked last night (hard top), I will try your hinge method.
Did you have to do any adjustment to the lower hinge since the angle will be off by a degree or so?

Thanks in advance.

I purchased my new Jeep Wrangler two weeks ago after going years with out one. I live in Florida and we have had rain here everyday. My jeep also has a leak on the passenger side door and the carpet is soaked. I have been into the dealership 3 times now to have it fixed. Each time they have assured me that it was fixed and guess what I wake up this morning and I am now back at dealership with the floor soaked. I love my new jeep just want leak fixed.

After 2 solid days of steady rain on the soft top, I too discovered water on the floor and some on the seats and seatbelt (driver side and back passenger) the floorboard was like a pool! most likely from B pillar weak seal. Took it in today (under warranty) and the service person mentioned that there is a recall out. I think there's a foam piece they're adding around the B pillar!?! I love my Jeep and would hate to have water issues, rust, mildew down the road. I spent 3 hours detailing it a few days prior.

Mine leaks to it's all about how you put the top on if you have a soft top. I can't speak from experience for the hardtops but you have to clamp both side into place then put the drip covers on I swear it helps. It sounds crazy but haha it works. Also By the doors on top of the plastic frames by the A frame pillar there's a little dip down spot go to any hardware store and buy some 3m foam tap over it and that will also make some of the drips stop. You can do the same thing over the radio if it's leaking there it helps alot. I get a few drips now and then but we just had a huge rain storm and there were like 2 drip makes on the window I can live with that.

well hello fellow leaky jeep owners..lmao..i have to laugh ,ive been to dealer well over 10 times...i have had wind noise horribly, rain on both front doors of my jk..i have read the forums and pdfs on the fixes...,,.....they replaced both door frame seals...still leaked.replaced front header rubber and header bar ..leaked.i noticed they screwed up the front header seal i had to re caulk it at the windshield frame as water was going under it and leaking around the underside corners of the header rubbers into the jeep...on the sides of dash and both door knobs.noticed the soft top pinches in the upward direction and the door rubbers are not sealing right..they replaced both door rubbers....everything slowed down...driverside after days of rain nothing..passenger side does get a few drops after a real hard rain.they also replaced my sunrider top ,just the top no windows..with some flimsy oem top..not the same as my original thick material on my jk wrangler x.got to really closed the doors now
.and heres what i figured out
the soft tops where the rain rails that pop in pitch upward,,,so the rubber seals on the doors do also ..so when you get a driving rain it seeps thru the door seal and soft top..its a factory screw up on these tops ...i have measured the door specs and they seem to be according to specs and not off by much at all..my passenger side door rubber pitchs on the top and does not channel the water correctly...and if you look on both sides of your doors upper corners the rubber from the windshield header just rest inside..so when you get adriving rain..the water has like nowhere to go...but inside...you can adjust the doors but be sure that all the seals are done first...and the hardware or door frames arent warped....read the pds i have posted on leaks its for all jk and unlimited ...i can deal with a few drops...it was poring in mine.note also to check your header rubber among firs tthings if your door frame seals at cups are new...cause even if it was a factor installed windshield header rubber...they use very little butyl caulk underside ...and you may have to do like i did and reculk underneath the rubber itself or a nice bead across the front where it meets the windshield frame.dont just adjust your doors cause they may make it worse..my door rubbers didnt pintch ,beforre they installed these one..but hey i can deal with a few drops man.....good luck all

when i observed my soft top closley i noticed that the header bar does not allow the softop brackets that screws into header to wrap around the header correctly causing the drip cap rails to pitch upward...this is another issue,,all said and done ..its complete horse...t that they just dont recall all these jeeps in and just fix them.few drops or not..really should not have any..any round here these crystler tecs all have the doe in the headlight look when it comes to jeeps..wish i had better tecs in my area..very frustrating

Just picked up my jeep from service regaurding leaking door. They replaced the door seal and re aligned door, replaced the seal around windsheild and replaced the carpet. I made them do a water test at dealer before I left. No leak to my surprise. Hopefully they fixed the issue. I will keep you posted.

glm, That's great, hope it never leaks for you!
It might be hard to tell without mother nature's test of long and solid rain!

Mine suppose to be ready today (after 5 days at the dealership) waiting for parts for the recall. Make sure they're aware of the recall!!

I'm glad to hear about this recall. I wish I knew of it sooner. It could have saved me a lot of grief. http://www.wranglerforum.com/f33/tot...ft+top+failure

I did nor spend time reading everyone's posts but my passenger door leaked the night I bought my 2011 unlimited sport. The third time I bought it to the dealer, Chrysler had sent them instructions on exactly how they wanted them to fix it. Said it was basically a recall but they were only fixing the ones brought into the dealers with the problem. Mine was fixed 2 months ago and it has not leaked since. Good luck to you all.

Passenger Side Water Leak 2011 Wrangler

Just purchased a new Wrangler Sport. Having the same issue with water collecting on the passenger side floor mat and pan. Have appointment with dealer service dept. on Tuesday next. Is it possible it is from the condensing coil on the AC? "Dampness" seems more prominent on the interior side wall of the well than the bottom.

Well, I wish I had your dealership. I have had my 2011 Wrangler Rubicon in to my dealership five or six times now. They have done all the recommended TSBs for the water leak (and everything else they could think of) to no avail. It still leaks as badly as ever. I also spoke to the general manager but, in my case, the dealership did not offer to give me a new Jeep. They did offer to SELL me one, though. If I just increase my existing loan payments by another $50 or $60 per month, I would be able to own another 2011 Wrangler! I guess it's time to try contacting Chrysler Corporation directly to see if they even care about this sort of problem or not. Does anyone have any ideas on the best way to contact the folks at the corporate level?

Well after fixing 2 jeeps last week for friends of mine, their dealer couldn't figure it out, All I have to say is if you haven't read the posts, the numerous threads, and attempted the fixes yourself you have no room to complain about the vehicle...

If you want it done right do it yourself, its that simple... I know my dealer very well and we have a very good working relationship... If I can't fix it for less than $20 and 2 hours myself I call them and they give it a shot...
People really have the WalMart mentality these days...
Both my 2010 and the 2012 leaked ONCE and after some tinkering neither leaked again...
And the " It's a $30K vehicle it shouldn't leak" reasoning is lame
1-$30k isn't all that much for a 4X4
2-The wrangler is the ONLY readily available vehicle sold in the USA that the Top and Doors are COMPLETELY removable, what do you expect? a hermetically sealed chamber ???
3-It's a Jeep...
4-Well there it is again.... It's a Jeep

I had the same problem with my 10 and now with my 11. The only thing for me to do was to contact a lemon law attorney. When my dealer told me that "some leaks just cannot be fixed", I new it was time. The attorney costs you nothing and they take care of everything. If you look up lemon law attorneys in your state you should be able to find a few.

How about even a $20K vehicle should not leak. I have owned 6 Wranglers but fortunately # 5 and # 6 are the only ones that leaked. After lots of "tinkering" and even 14 trips to the dealer -Chrysler bought back my 10 stating "it could not be repaired". Now I have my 11 going in at the request of Chrysler. Maybe if all of the people who purchase and truly love their Wranglers (and Jeeps in general - because Wrangler is not the only leaky model in their line-up) hold Chrysler accountable for their shoddy workmanship - our AMERICAN vehicles would stop getting such a bad wrap. "It's a Jeep" just is not a realistic answer! Glad you were able to fix yours but from lots of research on this subject over the past year and a half - not all JK's have an easy fix.

Soft top leaking

Tomorrow will be my 4th trip to a second dealership. So far the second dealership has been great. They have given me two new soft tops skins since I have had the problem. Granted i'm still having the problem. I'm starting to wonder if the tub is designed poorly for this new style of soft top? (sunrider). I have had tiny pin holes in my first top and I keep getting water down the sub woofer to the right of the storage bin. Im starting to wonder wtf with Jeep?

if the pin holes are where the joint it on the sunrider top where it flips back..theres a recall ...on the pinholes..if your sunrider softtop has pinholes in this area they will replace the top for free..if not there is a material they put on the softtop in this area to prevent the pin holes

alot of back n forth to the dealer

well all the seals on my jeep were replaced with the sunrider top..the top itself was replaced and the header...i get barley any noise and a few drops after a good pouring rain....they did offer to take another look at it..probably make it worse..lol...if i did some mods i could fix this permantely..but i can deal with a few drops...

jeep really needs to update their sunrider softop thou..the quality of workmanship is very poor..i know why mine leaks and its just to many words to type and explain...good luck all...carry a few towels..lol

would like to suggest this tip tho...if your still getting drips on your inside door nobs after replacing the seals...take a piece of masking tape and tape along the top side of door rubber channel the close door tightly..then take butyl caulk and caulk a nice bead along the underside of the drip rail where the rubber meets the softop..wait for it to dry then take a razor blade and neatly remove the tape and trim the caulk where its not nicely even...
when done youll have a bead of caulk on the softop under the drip rail..when you shut the door the upper door rubbers will fall behind this bead..then when it rains the water will just drip over the butyl caulk and down doors rather than seeping thru the top of door rubbers and softop...

this will work ,cause when you close your doors on the jeep youll notice the door rubbers on the topside are recessed inside the drip rail about a quarter inch..if your door rubber on top is even with the softop when you close the door then you might have to adjust the door slightly so that the door rubber on the top is slightly recessed in side the drip rail on softop...then do the mod with the caulk..

Picked up truck from the dealer this day. Questioned "what was the problem and disposition" to the service tech. "Replaced the passenger side door seal", replied. Caveat emptor ? Rain from the Glades to the west. Hmmmm.

I got a recall notice in the mail last week. (but I have not even taken the soft top out of the packaging yet).

In Canada, the recall is for 'premature wearing of the soft top at the second and/or third roof bows'. All vehicles will receive roof bow shields to prevent excessive wear, and soft tops found with pin holes and/or tears will be replaced.

This is for some 2010 and 2011 model year Jeeps Wranglers equipped with 4 doors and a soft top or dual top.

The recall number in Canada is L24 SOFT TOP WEAR.

I hope this helps!

Hi guys. New user here. My 2011 Sport has had nothing but problems with leaks since day one. The header bar has been replace twice and now it's in the shop for the same leak. I was gone for three weeks and when I came back my carpet was wet and there was mold/mildew on the carpet on the drivers side under the seat and on the back drivers side carpet. Not only that but I also have it in the shop for a loose and rattling tailgate for the third time also. This doesn't even count the time I had to bring it in for the steering wheel controls that stopped working. I have been in contact with Chrysler and they have someone from their headquarters working with the dealership apparently to get this resolved. If they don't get it fixed this time, someone is giving me a new Jeep come hell or high water.
