If/when they come out with the Pentastar, I'd hope for a plug/play, swap harness/acc, to be offered by some of the after mkt biggee's, so it'd be a fairly easy swap !!

Much more appealing to me than a HEMI, including cost !!

Time will tell

From Detroit News today:

The new line of V-6 engines will contribute to an overall fuel-efficiency improvement of more than 25 percent across the Chrysler, Ram Truck, Jeep and Dodge lineup. Chrysler said the more refined and fuel-efficient Pentastar engine ultimately will replace seven current Chrysler Group V-6 engines and utilize advanced technologies from the Fiat alliance such as Multiair, direct-injection and turbocharging.
The first use of this engine will be in the all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Can you imagine a Jeep Rubicon with a Hemi??It would easly be 48,000 dollars.Lets face it , if they (Chrysler) did that they would have to change way more than just the engine.you could'nt leave a 19 gallon tank on a vehicle that gets 13 mpg. Also, offroading you might get about 10 mpg.you could'nt leave the suspension as is,not with that much of a torque increase. Frankly,it would just cost to much money to put a Hemi in a wrangler. The Pentastar sounds realistic. Our Jeeps need a better engine ,that much is true.

Yea Raider, but there are guys that have put the newer HEMI's in JK's, cost anywhere from $5 to $20 thousand bucks, with all the necessary parts and they seem to sell SOON !!

Thats too extreme for me, The HEMI I had was over 37 years ago, I'd really like that PENTASTAR swap !!

Good day

I wouldn't start planning a 2011 JK purchase any time too soon. Looks like the Cherokee will be the Guinea pig for the 2011 model year.

They need to just go back to the 4.0 I6 for Rubicon's. And gear the thing to 4.88 stock with a 33 tire. I understand Crysler is catering to these "green" dorks with this 3.8 mini-van air sucker, and gearing these wranglers higher for the fuel economy.

That ok. But the Rubicon is the so called "off-roader out of the box" ok, make it that way then.

Electric wrangler are just wrong. Sorry. I like combustion engines. If I wanted an electric engine, I'd go get that little electric go-kart they call a Smartcar, slap some 35's on it, and wheel the sh*t out of it. it's bad enough my JK has an electronic nanny telling me I can't do doughnuts or burnouts

I own an 07 JK. I love it. But, I was currently considering selling it to my father, and I'd get a new pretty 2010. I think I'll keep mine. He can buy one of these 2010/2011 street queens

Anyone hear that they are going to make a "base model" Rubicon?

I heard that currently they are only making the Rubicon with all the Luxuries (AC, Power Windows, High end Audio System, Tilt steering). I actually heard that they were listening to popular demand and offering a base model Rubicon. This New Rubicon was designed with all the Cool Stuff of the Rubi i.e. 4to1 transfer etc., but the price was going to be in the Mid to Upper Teens ($15k - $19K)

What you "heard" was a concept vehicle called the J7 Stripper. There are no current plans to offer it for sale. There's an article about it in one of the magazines.
