2011 JK - Sound System Upgrade Questions

Hello,

I'm looking to upgrade my stock sound system in my 2011 JK. I'm not looking to spend a huge amount (under $500), as I don't want to worry about losing expensive equipment to rain.

I'm thinking about just upgrading the 4 speakers and 2 tweeters, possibly adding an '07 stock infinity sub.

Does anyone have any suggestions on brands to buy? I'm not looking for the best sound system, just something that will play a little louder as it is hard to hear music when the top is down.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
-Ekia

Check into either the Kicker set up or Polk Audio. I have the Polk Audio in mine along with a new head unit and the sound is great. I have also heard real good things about the Kicker speakers too.

I've got polks in the sound bar, and have some focals on order for the fronts. Putting a 2 way speaker in the soundbar along with poly fill will make a huge difference in quality and volume. The Polk dxi 650s are marine rated and work great for me

Did you change your head unit? Or just upgrade the speakers?

Sorry, I did change the head unit as well. I bought a Clarion double din unit. I will have to get back to you with the model number. Changing just the speakers didn't do much do I had to upgrade the head unit.

Haven't upgraded the head unit. As of now all I have installed are the polks. Didnt even upgrade the speaker wire. Was driving around with the top down all weekend in town and highway and very happy with the polks

Just the two speakers on the soundbar? I might have to try it if it works out that well, I just need it to be louder so I can hear with the top down.

On another note, I have a pretty good deal available for one of the stock infinity subs, anyone have any input on this? Would it be a good grab or could it make the system not sound as good? I'm not sure if it would use up too much power or something.

Thanks for all the advice I really appreciate it!

I was surprised how much it helped. Make sure you use poly fill!

Is the poly fill included in the speakers or do I need to buy that separate? I've never heard of this before....

Separate. I bought a cheap pillow from target and use the synthetic fiber stuffing. If you use the search function in the forum, there are a bunch of posts talking about it, and showing how to use it

stealth makes some really cool subs as well. very sleek and save a lot of room in your "trunk" if that's what you want to call it.

I have pioneers in the soundbar and a memphis sub that were in the process of upgrading right now. These where great with a single amp but now Im going bigger. I would recommend these or I would cut you a helluva deal on these if you want??

Where do you store your amp? I was looking into getting one, but couldn't find a place that would protect it well from the elements.

Hey all hijacking this thread. Are there instructions out there on how to replace the front speakers in an 2012 JK? I have some Polks arriving tomorrow and I know the soundbars will be easy but I'm trying to figure out how the fronts come out; looks like I might have to come in through the side and/or glovebox? Any help would be appreciated!

Also, before I unbox them I assume I can replace the factory ones with Polks with no issues even if I have the upgraded Infinity/NAV setup?

Thanks!

Cribby
