I gotta say the prices on the 11's right now are very tempting. I was only holding out for a '12 because of the hope of better fuel mileage which really isn't there. I can get a pretty well loaded '11 JKU Sahara out the door for less than $30k whereas it would be $33.3k out the door for the '12. Very tempting. I would of course have to drive both and see if I could deal with the power issues with the '11.

I couldn't pass up the cost savings on the '11 + the 0% financing. I got a Green Pearl 2011 JKU Sahara for $30K and love it. I would have spent $3 to $4k more for the 2012. Althought the '12 had more get up and go, in my mind it didn't justify spending the extra dough. To each their own though. I think no matter what you get, you'll enjoy the crap out of it. I am!!!

Oh yeah, got 1.9% financing which is better than taking the 1k incentive.

Not sure I follow. If opting out of the 1k incentive, you should then be able to get the 0% financing. It's either one or the other for the 2011s.

Only if you qualify for 0%. Only about 10% do according to my dealer. I don't know if that's their average or a national average.

I thought I remember hearing it requires a credit score of 675 to qualify. I got 2.25% for 72 months on my '12.

My local dealer has the EXACT sahara unlimited in the color and options that I would order one for out the door for $30081. That's a huge deal and a great savings over a '12. Man I'm tempted but I know I would be jealous of that new motor. If I could somehow drive both on my daily commute to see how they drove compared to each other. That kind of savings will more than make up for any gas savings over the course of the loan though. I am just not sure I want to take on a car loan now though but this sahara is the EXACT vehicle I would have ordered in every way.

IIRC 0% usually calls for a 750 credit score or higher.

I hope this doesn't violate any forum tenets - I have no business interest in them, but I do believe that anyone looking for a good deal on a 2011 might want to look on-line at Huntington Beach Chrysler Jeep's inventory. They have some very sweet deals on remaining 2011's - I bought my Sahara from them, and a few months prior, a Cherokee, after finding out that no one else in the West could come down as low as they would...
If you live too far away to work a deal with them (they do have people fly in from elsewhere in the country), you could at least use their pricing in your negotiations with a local dealer. If you want a specific contact there, PM me and I'll tell you what I know...

I had the same concerns you did about the motor. I drove the '12 first and was dead set on that, then drove the '11. Don't get me wrong, there's a definite difference in the 2 engines, but in my mind, not enough to justify the price difference. I went with the '11 and don't regret my choice at all. I use it as a daily commuter and have no issues. I just understand that it's a jeep, not a sports car, so I'm not looking to blow by anyone. Now I'm going to waste all the money I saved on after market upgardes

My vote, go for the '11 and save the money!

Nice!!! Post some pics. How do you like the interior? That's the only real difference, right?

Yea I love it. The Interior is basically the same just leather heated seats. I'll post a picture.

I have been waiting since about May to buy a new Jeep. I fully intended on buying a 2012. I really wanted the increased HP and torque. I assumed the mpg would go up too, but 1mpg for an unlimited is basically nothing.

A local dealer got in a 2012 Rubicon Unlimited a few weeks ago. I went out and drove an '11 and a '12 back to back. During my short test drive I did not notice a seat of the pants difference between the two. So I saved some money and bought an '11 for $1K under invoice. Can you say money for toys?

Nope, it's not really--especially the 2 door with a 6 speed.

You're just shifting at too low of an RPM. Unless you're specifically looking to do the "Sunday driver" thing, try shifting at 3k RPM or higher as a matter of routine. Use 5th or 4th on the highway instead of 6th. If you're merging into traffic or need really fast acceleration, let it spool out to 4k+.

The 3.8 is actually quite quick! Congrats.

This thread is coming alive. Have had my '11 JKU-R for 600 miles and have no examples of it being under powered. My only complaint is my perma-grin

Agree with MTH, get the rpms up. 2700-3000. I found in 1st-3rd gear doesn't like going over that, the rpms seem to float when depressing the clutch, don't know why.

Amen! 5K on my '11 JK and no signs of being under powered. The 4k saved bought some nice wheels, bumpers, stereo amp and sub, and a few other nic nacs with change left. I guess I have not accelerated hard enough to notice the "slow" 0 to 60. Whats the big hurry? Been at Myrtle beach all week. My wife can't understand why I would rather cruise up and down the blvd, soakin the rays and listening to blues than lay around on the beach! She thinks the grin is because she looks so good in the beach wear!
