Hello. My wife and I are looking at a 2011 Unlimited. Can anyone give us an idea of a good price? Most dealers in our area (near Dallas) are quoting invoice. Thanks for any help with this.

Also, I have been looking through the posts for several days and certainly appreciate the information and knowledge the forum provides.

Hi chop110 and thanks for the reply.

We are considering waiting (no immediate need), but I have never had much success with a new motor (and probably transmission) in a new application. The Pentastar is a complete new design. I have a Ford Ranger with a 4.0 SOHC and the engine has been a pain in the a$$ and expensive to work on.

Things like cast-in exhaust manifolds, plastic intake manifold and DOHC could be a nightmare in a few years (after the warranty is gone).

Agreed. I'm not sure I get all the folks who are eagerly waiting to trade-in at the first stroke of 2012. Why not wait until 2015 or so--or at least 2013 or 2014--just to let the kinks work out? Anyway, we've got to be careful or this thread will get HIGHJACKED pronto.

SO, as to your initial question: If anyone is going to have an answer, they'll surely need way, way more details. For example, are you looking at a Sport, a Sahara, or a Rubicon? What options are you going to want to add? Etc. etc. A "good price" for a bare bones Sport will be thousands less than a loaded Rubicon.

Even still, my suggestion would be to go to Edmunds.com and do some research. They've got real invoice costs along with all kinds of other data.

Finally, look into the Tread Lightly discount, which should save you a few bucks. Good luck!

Thanks MTH and bidjay0512

I am looking for an Unlimited with:

1. Sport S Package 4X4
2. 4-Speed Automatic (3.73 axle)
3. Freedome 3-Piece Modular Hard Top
4. Trac-Lok Limited Slip Rear Differential
5. Supplemental Front Seat-Mounted Side Airbags
6. Trailer Tow Group.

The MSRP is about $31500 and Edmunds says $150 off invoice
is the market price. Just wanted to check that that was still
true.

BTW, Consumer Reports shows most cars/trucks need about three years before they are in the red (good reliability ratings).

I hope the Pentastar is a home run, but statistics say the odds are against you.

I got almost those exact options except I got dual tops, 17 inch wheels, and Uconnect. Got them down to $30k flat. I'm pretty satisfied with that deal.

The Edmunds "True Market Value" was pretty darn close to what I paid. And I've heard unanimous support that the Tread Lightly Program (click here) saves you money.

I know it's kind of apples to oranges but I thought, since I am in your area, I would throw it out anyway. I bought my 2 door JK at Classic in Denton on December 11. They had it on the lot. It has everything you want on your Unlimited except side airbags but it also included the power convenience group, tinted windows, Mopar black appearance group, and Sirius satellite radio. The MSRP was $29030 and I gave $27500 before tt&l. According to Edmund's, that is about $100 under invoice.

Just got back from ordering the Jeep:

1. Sport S Package 4X4
2. 4-Speed Automatic (3.73 axle)
3. Freedome 3-Piece Modular Hard Top
4. Trac-Lok Limited Slip Rear Differential
5. Supplemental Front Seat-Mounted Side Airbags
6. Trailer Tow Group.

$600 below invoice with no dealer prep or documentation fees - just sales tax and normal state title/license fee.

May not be the best deal possible, but I am OK with it (hate buying cars).

Thanks for all the suggestions and comments.

If you wait, then you could be the guinea pig for a new engine...I have been there ith my Ford 6.0 Powerstroke, and I will NEVER be a guinea pig again.

I just picked up my 2011 a week ago for a few hundred dollars under invoice. I could have done better, but I built my Jeep online at the dealership and they located exactly what I built the next day. There as a charge of $250 for the dealership to attain my Jeep from the dealership they found it from. I could have saved that money but I was really impatient! :)

The best I could get, after talking to 4 different dealerships, was 1% off invoice and $1,500 for my literally worthless trade in. I learned recently that dealerships are not having a problem selling the Wrangler Unlimited, and there are no real factory or dealer incentives. "These things are selling themselves" is what one salesman told me recently. I believe it.
It wasnt a deal I was looking for, it was a Jeep. ...and i got one! :)

As far as the new engine goes, if it turns out to be as game-changing as some people keep saying it will be, we should'nt have a problem losing money when we trade in for the 2012.

Just thought I'd share my experience when I went to one of my local dealers here in Salt Lake City on Dec. 31st hoping to get a great deal on a 2010 Rubicon Unlimited. The sticker was 34,850 and the best they would do is 32,700. To me that was just not enough discount considering they had 2011's on the lot right next to the 2010. I was just paying by check and not financing so the dealers was nice in that I only spent about 15 minutes inside while they figured the best they would do. Bottom line is the sales manager said he'd have no problem selling it so they wouldn't take any less.
