Is that indicator actually showing that your door is open?? What if you take the top off, is there a sensor for that also? lol!

Can you get one without all that power stuff and stuff all over the steering wheel?

When I first heard about the 2011 having a revised interior, I was kicking myself for having bought a 2010. This makes me feel better.

The steering wheel is too chunky - I like the more open steering wheels like on the 2010 and earlier Jeeps. This wheel says "truck" to me, not "Jeep."

I don't like the rounded chrome gauges either - again, too truckish.

Is that the radio all the way at the bottom of the center console? WTF?

And where did they get those shift knobs, the Bellagio?

Overall, it'd be right at home in something like a Ram or F350, but IMHO it's just too much for a Jeep. Maybe it's the two-tone, I don't know. It's a Jeep, not a bass boat.

As long as they still offer a base Jeep with no power accessories, no AC, no automatic tranny, with removable top & doors and folding windshield then it's ok.... Not interested in anything but a horn on my steering wheel.

The inside part of the doors are not fully covered, we can still see painted surfaces.... That's good.

is it a lighter or just a 12v plug in? I dont like it, jeeps are supposed to be basic not a freaking landrover or something, If I wanted leather, heated seats, navigation I would by a freaking yukon that I can actually get more then four people in it and my dog and still have room for stuff, just saying, jeep wranglers are not meant to be a luxury car, thats what the cherokee is for

I like the interior of the "1st gen JK's" if I can even say that yet, lol.
modernized, simple and no chrome.
Looks like tan is the only color too, according to the article. They make it seem like the chrome and the tan are standard, thats what you get.

Jeep has to keep up sales though. Granted, if the keep making the same Jeep over and over each year... society will not be interested. They have to include new age options in order to show the consumers they are up-to-date.

It's self preservation. Jeep has to do what is has to do in order to stay in production. Sad, but true.

All is not lost... who cares about the power windows when you can just take the doors and top off. Pretty much all options they give you, you can remove or request not to have. It's still a Jeep because you get your options and endless possibilities for mods. That's how I see it anyway...

This is what a Jeep interior should look like!

I used to hate the YJ's and TJ's because the interior was too modern. Now I just deal with it, but the JK and these new JK pics are just way to far removed from what a Jeep interior should really be in my mind.

What are all those lights and buttons for?!?! Did they make the top retract with the push of a button too? Wouldn't surprise me with all the changes they've made.

Hmmmm....(can you hear the wheels turning in my head?)

A retractable top on the fly would have been a nice mod last weekend when I got caught with mine down and ended up with 6 inches on rain in the floor.....

On second thought, Nah. I couldn't shame my girl like that.

Thats nice and real simple....But bottom line is if the wrangler doesnt move along with modern automobiles then it wont move along at all. Wrangler (not jeep) sales would plummet and eventually the wrangler would be discontinued. Because no one wants a dashboard and interior from the 70's or 80's on a jeep thats built today. (just saying worst case scenario).

In the end with all the new modern bells and whistles we still have to appreciate that Chrysler is sticking to they're roots as much as possible with the lightning fast moving technology in the auto industry. We still have solid axles..suspensions have come a looong way. The tops and doors are still removable. Now they are even trying to appeal more to the offroad scene with things like sway bar disco's, mud terrain tires, large wheel wells, and rock rails from the factory.

If you compare a JK now to what some of the new cars and trucks have these days you would quickly see how far behind the wrangler is, or how far ahead everyone else is. There are cars out there now that park themselves and the wrangler just got in-dash navigation in 2007.

I think its awesome. And thats the Sahara luxury edition which is why its leather and has all the chrome trim. The lower models hopefully won't be as flashy. Love the steering wheel, solid feel, nice and thick.

Draining the water out of your Jeep is the reason why it's a Jeep and why people like to drive them!

You can see that the gauges are in the same place, but are much less “bold” with bright, rounded chrome surrounds replacing the large swaths of dull silver plastic. The separation of digital displays within the guages has been removed. The center stack is less pronounced and the color is an earth tone consistent with the Wrangler’s purpose. The steering wheel now has a chrome ring and audio controls. Shifters are in the same place but have chrome elements and the automatic shifter is now gated. The center stack has the same controls in the same places, it seems, but the elements have the same color as the main dashboard, reducing the emphasis. The speaker grille is not as accentuated and vents have dull silver surrounds. The doors are smoother and not “chunky.”

Does this mean they all have the Earth Tone???

That's right! Okay, so I drive a TJ and the steering wheel is borderline floofy. I keep looking through the catalogs wondering if somehow the CJ stuff can be put on mine....love that CJ look. Raw perfection. If only those CJ seats would go up far enough for me to push in the darn clutch!

Exactly! I was mad the first 10 minutes of the storm. Then decided, WTF am I worried about? I think it was karma allowing my new TJ to break me in properly. Now? No carpet...no worries. Pulled it out to dry and don't plan on putting it back.
