I received a recall notice in the mail today on my 2012 JK. Recall is for 12/13 JK's with Auto Trans. Problem is the transmission oil cooler tube may inadvertently come in contact with the power steering fluid return tube. This contact could eventually cause the transmission oil cooler tube to develop a wear hole and leak. This would lead to a loss of transmission fluid and could cause transmission damage, and if the leaking fluid comes in contact with an ignition source, cause an under body fire.
Chrysler stated the new parts to remedy this situation are not yet available, and I will be notified when they are....
This is the 1st recall notice I have ever received. Hope it doesn't take too long to get fixed... I love my jeep, but I'm a little apprehensive to take it on a long trip until its get fixed.
Recall notices are part of the car owning experience, been driving for 35 years and I have had many of them come in the mail..
I looked at my '13 real quick after I read your post, there is only one place where the PS return and trans cooler lines even come close and its easy to see. Mine is a May 2013 build and it looks like the problem has been addressed, the PS line had a rubber sleeve and the trans cooler line that comes closest to it has a plastic coating.
you can look right at them through the driver's side front wheelwell, in the pic the green arrow points the PS return line and the red are the trans cooler lines, if any of them are making contact the vibration will wear a hole in the lines pretty quick. Why wait for the dealer, check it out yourself, if they are rubbing move them away or insulate them until the dealer has parts available.

Is there recall out for everyone with a 2012 auto? I haven't received one yet...
Edit: Just went out there to check... Doesn't look like they even close to touching, do they shift? If so is the general fix just to put some insulator around one or is that pointless if they aren't close to touching?
As a simple fix I tried a piece of 3/8" ID plastic wire loom about 4 inches long and it snapped around the pipe and slid right into place. I'll watch it for wear and if there is any I have a piece of 3/8" ID marine fuel line ready to go. The marine line is really flexible and should go on fairly easily.
Went to dealer for warranty recall appointment only to be told the part is back ordered. I asked if I could make a temporary preventative hose sleeve and was told that May void the warranty. The parts guy looked at the service guy and said "really/seriously?" On a fix that may not be done to June? On top of that someone pinched the $5 bill I had in the drink holder under a bottle of water

My wife brought my 12 JKUS in for the recall in September and was told that the part wouldn't be in for a while. She got a call in October to bring it in and it took them a week because they needed more parts. Turns out the trans line had a hole in it. They drained and flushed the trans as well.
12 JKUS and a damn good looking driver
