I kinda like having a functional tpms though. im sure the other crap works to just havent messed with it yet. I had great experiences with my last flashpaq from my 2010 so when I got my 2012 I patiently waited for them to release it and im glad I waited
Quick question: do the base options (tire size, gear ratio, etc) work right out of the box, or do those require downloads as well?

My Jeep is currently in the shop getting my axle armor welded on and new gears. They're also switching my procal programming over to a flashpaq. The only problem is that they want to charge me for all the time spent downloading the updates, so I'm trying to avoid that if at all possible. I can handle the updates and additional tuning myself as long as the shop can quickly and painlessly do the gear ratio and tire size changes to me the road.

Any help would be much appreciated!

My tuner did not get any updates when i installed it. installed just fine right out of the box. the only reason why i updated it later on was because the guy in charge of the beta testing told me to

Can anyone chime in about a rubicon? I'm still trying to figure out if the lockers will be programmable to work in 4hi.

Whoa, ok, that's good know. You didn't even have to update it for the additional octane tunes, and such?

Not sure hat you mean by "additional" octane tunes. all tunes were on the programmer when i recieved it 91, 87, tow, mileage etc. I did not have the flashcal i had the actual flashpaq so i didnt need to install any tunes on my programmer. i was one of the beta testers so ive had it for a while now

I only wonder if that's just a beta thing, and that perhaps the retail tuners don't come with the required programming out of the box. I guess I'll find out soon enough... LOL

You are correct. 90% of the people I've seen post "worked fine outta the box for me" are beta testers or folks with 2012's. There was one guy with a 2013 where it worked right away without updating, but he never replied back to any questions in that thread so who knows...

Speaking from my own experience as the owner of s 2013 JK with an auto transmission and a build date of 03/2013 or 05/2013 (can never remember)...

I got a tuner that was factory new, but had been manufactured in the factory before the beta work was complete on 2013 Jeeps. Thus, mine didn't have anything for 2013 Jeeps on it - the box didn't even say it did and if you look closely there are little inconsistencies in the labeling and parts numbers. Not a big deal. I updated it immediately after opening it because I have have the ability to reason and I realized something manufactured a few months ago probably wasn't going to have software that was released a few weeks ago. I updated and got the 2013 JK capability (about 10 databases were downloaded and updated). Many 2013 Jeep people are done at this point...

However, not all 2013 CALIDs were included in the Superchips 2013 development cycle - Chrysler didn't just hand Superchips a big .zip file full of every CALID they've used JKs. Superchips has the CALIDs of the Jeeps they own, of the people who were beta testers, and from people who buy Flashpaqs and send in their CALIDs as they themselves try to update the Flashpaq handheld using the Spark desktop software.

So... I too used the Flashpaq to pull the CALID from my Jeep, and then emailed it to Superchips using the Superchips Spark desktop software. Superchips in turn added it to their database of CALID's and used their template to make a tune for the CALID my Jeep has. I had a tune in 24 hours. Thus, when you update your Flashpaq, you will get several databases downloaded to it, and one of them (database 604) contains my own CALID-based tune along with all the others before it.

This may or may not apply to other folks' Jeeps, but that's how it worked for me.

OK my previous question ended up at the end of page 1 with no replies. I will repost it here;

So what can this thing actually do for a 2013 J/K sport automatic that a Pro cal can't?
I'm not against spending the extra coin but I am not sure how this is going to net me that much more torque or extra HP. I'm sticking with 87 gas so those other tunes don't appeal to me but what else can it do?

Any takers?

Here you go. Do some reading from the manufacturer and you will know more than going back and forth on a forum. Maybe it isn't worth it for you?

There's a bunch of other stuff that isn't listed. I'd check Superchips Forums and browse a bit.

Im having issues getting my tuner to function. I get a notice on the tuner that there is no tune available and to update. I have updated this thing 10 times today and it keeps telling me updates are found. Im not sure what is going on. I had the tuner powered up and looked at tuner info and it says Dodge 3870 and lists dodge engines but nothing for jeep. Is this normal? If its not too much trouble could someone check there tuners and see what they say. Thanks

Mine did the same thing before I plugged it into my Jeep for the first time. It listed as options 6.xL and 5.xL dodge engines - something like that. Once I plugged it into my Jeep and it it told me there was no "calibration" available and to go update online again. Once online it hit their website and after a few tried it said there was no tune and then asked for my email address. That's when your CALID gets set to SC to be added to their database and atune is then adapter for your CALID. It's almost like, if you have a Jeep with a CALID it doesn't recognize, then the 3870 is a "generic" tuner until it knows what Jeep you have.

FWIW I've had several superchips on several vehicles and their computer software sucks as far as connecting the tuner to the computer and getting updates, etc. If you're having trouble with it do yourself a favor and call them, they have good customer service and will take care of you. I once spent nearly a year (a couple attempts through the year) trying to get the software on the PC to work so I could buy advanced transmission tuning for my dodge ram and then finally called them and they had me send them the tuner and they replaced it with a new one free of charge and then it worked.

Branman, from what I have found the super chips does not support the 2014 Jeeps yet. Only the Procal at this point supports 2014. Bummer, I know because I wanted the screen. I ended up ordering the pro cal to redo speedo after bigger tires.

This is true but I contacted them about the beta testing which is why I currently have a tuner . I figured they would have had it all sorted before I got it. I'm sure it's just the issue with the CALID. I just can't get the thing to update which may be my only issue.

Branman - if the only issue is not updating, try checking out the Top of the Jeep section of the Superchips Forum. There is a post by Ron that explains how to get past the error. I involves deleting and then reinstalling the USB driver. I only know because I had to do it myself.

Did you use the spark program to update the tuner? That's the only thing I see. I plug it in and it starts checking for updates which it finds. I click update and it's takes about 15 minutes then it shows the store screen where you can purchase the unlock or tpms disable. If I unplug it and plug it back in it will do this all over again. The firmware on the tuner is 3.05.01 I wonder what your firmware is. Thanks for the help here I'm sure it's something simply. I was able to program my tpms and tire size which I'm happy about.

Have you gotten to a screen ever that says No tune available" and entered your email? Did you ever get to where it downloads like 10 databases to the handheld via Spark? FYI... Mine is at 3.04.11 which I updated from 3.00.something which it shipped with.

UPDATE: link below. It says it is for an Internet Update Error (Key Exchange) issue, but it works for many issues it seems. Worked for me at least...

The problem is im not getting any errors and the program seems to update the tuner no problem. If I unplug it then plug it right back in, its like I never updated it.

I did this last night just to see what it would do after I read your post and it does the exact same thing.

I have not gotten to the screen where it allows me to submit an email. It just keeps telling me updates available over and over again. So far im not impressed with superchips.

I got mine working with the 87 octane tune, tire size adjustment, and gear ratio change; but, I can't for the life of me get the damn Spark app on PC to download the TPMS Off-road add-on.

After I click to "Accept" the waiver, the app just goes to a blank grey screen and sits there forever.

Seriously annoying...

Ya got me. It took me awhile as well. Only replies I got to my posts on Jeep forums were "my 2012 updated fine". I'd call SC tomorrow first thing. They have really competent folks manning the phone.

I just went out and tried again. Once again my tuner says calibration not on file and needs to be updated (I have updated this darn thing 10 times and keeps saying updates available). I then plugged it in to the computer and once again updates available. I completed the update process again with no errors or issues. I have also tried updating on 2 different computers with the same thing. It wont even allow me to send off the file to superchips because it keeps saying updates found when I plug it in. This is really frustrating. I guess I just need to forget it until I talk with superchips. Also there forum blows because I signed up and still have not got my email confirmation to activate my account. I was going to post on there but cant.

Seems like a good idea. I didn't have all weekend be frustrated with mine as it showed up on a Wednesday, and I spent several hours that evening cursing Superchips. I called them Thursday morning, and had my tune downloaded and installed by Friday noon.

Yeah think doing it on the weekend was not the best idea but I was excited to try it out haha. Thanks for all the tips. Ill report back in here after I hear from superchips.

Anyone else have the base 130 radio with satellite and notice that it no longer shows the satellite channel number when changing stations after tuning? I can't figure out how to get it back either... lol

Can anyone comment on the power and TM reduction? Does it feel stronger, quicker, more responsive? On my ram the superchips tune is a night and day difference, hell just having the torque management reduction is worth the money. Curious what the thoughts are on the jeep.

Thanks.
