2012 3.6L Tuner Released FINALLY!

DiabloSport just announced the release of the tuning for the 3.6L on their Trinity unit!!! YEA!!! Just ordered mine after speaking to them today!! Can't wait to try it out. 3-7 days to the door!!

What does it do for performance and does it require a human to tune it? Are there off the shelf maps?

It comes preloaded with multiple tune options (note doing this will void your engine warranty if caught with the tune in and an engine problem).

Diablo is claiming 20hp and 15 trq...based on my personal experiences with my Challenger my gains there were real close to their claims so I would expect the same here. Just as important is the improvemnet to shift points, throttle booster mapping (makes it respond better), improved MPH..etc....

fun isn't cheap...$600 bucks.

with the cylinder head problem on 2012 and perhaps on 2013's I would wait.

For $600 you can get a free flowing exhaust and cold air intake will improve about the same and sound better. Add some ceramic header and your all set. Now with the tune on that, BEAST MODE

Nice i been running a performance tuner on my 08 jku and see noticeable differences in HP and Tq. good luck. Mine was only $300 though

I picked this up last week, only have played with the gauges for the most part, but the unit is nice.

Still questioning when I'll tune it because of this overlying head issue. Mine sounds great, but it's only 6k miles so far.

I want the feature that allows you to operate the lockers in 4W high up to about 30 mph in a Rubicon. DiabloSport isn't the only tuner manufacturer that lets you acomplish this feat, but I like the look fo their tuner the best. Thanks for the post Elarson! please post any updates about perfomance or drawbacks.

No headers on the 3.6L..the manifolds are incorproated right into the block based on my look...sucks..

Understood but based on what I know the head issue is a design flaw that is either going to rear its ugly head or not...I personally don't see the tune changing that one way or the other. If it shows up on mine now that I have 18,000 miles then I guess I'll take the tune out and head to the dealer like I would have anyway.

Does anyone know if they got past the rolling codes? Cuz if you tuned the jeep had an engine problem couldn't you just reset it to factory and be fine?

The cardboard insert that came with it says "Warranty safe Programming".....I'd love to know what that means....use just the gauges and you are ok, or take the tune out and none the wiser....

Please update if you can program shift points or if you have only pre-programmed options to chose from. Bully Dog is releasing theirs next month and they confirmed you can custom program the shift points. Superchips plans to do the same but they can't crack one of the codes at this time. Waiting for theirs because I used one on my Ranger and was satisfied. But if they can't get it done....

I wouldn't bother using it to get the extra 20hp and 15 ft lbs at the cost of the warranty. Barely a 7% gain; i'd doubt you'd feel it. Changing the shift points for the auto guys is interesting though.

Changing shift points would put you in the same boat warranty wise....the key is to find out if it leaves a footprint....ask them...I would assume they tested....

I have run the tuner for a month now with the sprintex supercharger on my 11 rubicon. Tuner works great but it will void your warranty! It stops the rolling code, so Chrysler can find out quick if you're using a tuner. The other question on here is if the rubicon features work and they do not, have been waiting for the lockers feature to be updated to be used on 11+ rubicons. Also there is no swaybar disconnect modification feature which other tuners do. Both hypertech and bullydog will have theirs out real soon. Good luck with your choices!

tunes changes are a simple file update. the tuner keeps a copy of your stock tune and upon your demand it will reload it and remove the altered tune. it does not leave a footprint and my dealership (who I am close with and doesn't care anyway) confirmed that as did Diablo. I would be very suprised if the areas of the ecm that are changed that affects the tune it could not be detected. If the tune is changed and a foot print is left behind warranty will be denied. I doubt a dealership is going to risk getting hammered by Chrysler for the profit they make on 10 new cars in two years. I am guessing if you bought 10 cars from them in 2 years they are giving you a good deal thus making slim profits. If a dealer gets caught scamming on warranty work Chrysler can stop paying them for warranty work. I figure if it took tuners 3 years to crack the code then Chrysler probably is one step on the tuners and very likely that a footprint will be left behind.

Does anybody know of anyone who had their warranty voided because of having a tune that was found out after flashing it back to stock. I have read countless threads via mustang and charger forums and have yet to find one. My father has had a diablo on his charger for 5 years and loves it. I heard of one guy who forgot to flash it back to stock though and the dealer flagged his car.

Dude..why the debate? I said it can void your warranty and to each his own? BTW the companies didn't crack the code...Chrysler finally gave it to them and has even assigned a couple Engineers just to work with the aftermarket guys. You can find links to the press release and news stories a couple months back...it was done directly by Ralph Gilles. They had made the decision to lock it down and it had a HUGE impact on sales of the sports based cars and the customers were screaming...I was one of them and mentioned it directly to Ralph Gilles when the 392 Charger was released to the media at the Chrysler museum in Pontiac. My car was there and featured on the front steps for the event. Guess what..they figured out that people were backing off Challengers, Chargers, and 300's cause it was easier to go to a Camaro or Mustang where GM and FORD actively support the aftermarket companies including the tuners. These companies exist ONLY because they sell millions of these things a year and I bet the percentage and thus the risk of failures caused by the tuners and owners getting hosed because of it is unbelievably low. Hell I bet it's less than guys getting hosed over issues caused by lifts, tires, etc!!!

Your choice, your risk....costs money to play. If this risk made you shy away from a lift or oversized tires or other stuff then this isn't something that would interest you. If you are prepared to deal with the POTENTIAL risk then this is more fun to be had...

I am not debating, just want people to realize what might be at stake. If the pentastar had a stellar track record I would be all over it but on fortuneately it does not. Hell I bought a 25000 harley and tore it down with in a month as I was not concerned about warranty in the future. On my jeep on the other hand there is too much unknowns for me at this point.

Sorry man..I think I need a forum break. Sometimes it just feels like you post the simplest thing and it turns into a debate on the pros or the cons or gets deep into what if's and hypotheticals instead of just sharing info and having fun...long day. Didn't mean to point.

I understand but please don't take a break until AFTER you've tinkered with the Trinity and let us know how it went. Warranty or not- the "save every scintilla of gas to increase MPG by 1.25 percent" Auto shift points on the 3.21s are driving me crazy.

I was just griping about my shift points - I enjoyed everything until I got over 1000 miles, then it changed. The pedal is looser, the response different, shift points are off. The dealer tells me its fine, and it's programmed to do that on break in. I hope this is the answer to the shift point issue I have.

Has anybody tried the hypertech interceptor ? Interceptor - Hypertech

From the looks of it the unit can be removed before dealer visits and leaves not footprint for the dealers to find. Granted you would not get all of the cool locker, sway bar, and shift point stuff.
