2012 3.73 as a no charge item?

Has anyone ever seen 3.73's as a no charge build item? I'm negotiating to buy a Jeep ~500 miles away and the build sheet specifies 3.73's but doesn't have the max tow or $50 charge for them. The advertised price seems really cheap too... way under my tread lightly discount.

Should I be concerned? Some sort of special Jeep discounted build?

Thanks,

Yes, Happend to me. I had to see the VOTS for proof. MY 3.73 were No Charge. Not sure if the Trac-lock helped. But it was 0 for the gears.

Thanks, that makes me feel better.... now if i can just figure out why they are selling it for 4k under MSRP....... Seems like its too good to be true but they have confirmed that's without any rebates but they do charge a $465 doc fee.

That's not unusual pricing. I wouldn't be concerned. Jeeps always have a lot of leeway in the sales price.

The 3.73 was made standard, 4.10s were made a $50 option. Weird, I know.

hmm I thought 23,570 + $465 doc was pretty good for an automatic unlimited. Local dealers said that was ~2k under what they pay. Sounds like I have nothing to worry about though, thanks.

I know that when i ordered my jeep on 3/24, I had to put in the option for 3.73's and paid $50 for it. I also got the trac-loc and towing pkg......?

The Rubicon is 3.73 standard. But the others are 3.21 standard. When I ordered in November, the website stated there was a $50 charge for 3.73. I ordered mine and was not charged the $50. It was listed on VOTS and on my window sticker with no charge. I didn't get either tow package or anything else that could have added the upgraded gears. So that was nice. But I would have gladly paid the extra fifty. I like the 3.73's with the new auto tranny.

Best,

SW

My 2012 base model 2 door window sticker shows the 3.73's are a $50 option.

If 4.10's are an option, I would go for it. Good insurance against a possible regear in the future if you decided to go with larger tires.

Pretty sure mine showed 4.10 as a no charge option, and if you go to Jeep.com and try to price a Unlimited Rubicon right now is says 0$ for 4.10 with Auto

Does the auto tranny option not come with 3.73's and the $50 charge for manual transmissions?

Sports get 3.21 with auto. 3.73 is optional. I think saharas
must be the same. It used to be autos got 3.73 gears. The '09 was that way anyway.

Best,

That's because 4.10s are standard on rubicons

I have a 12' sport and optioned the 3.73's. They were no charge. No towing package or anything either, just the gears.

I have 3.73's and it may have came with the towing package for all I know. Very confusing and there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or rhythm to it among the JK years.
