2012 Automatic trans questions

OK, so I am getting ready to order my new JK and I thought I was sure I wanted the 6sp, but after driving the auto, I really liked it.. but I have a couple of questions tregarding problems that the older autos are having.

Are there any issues with the auto trans (on the 2012's) heating up or not working on steep inclines (off road)??

Thank you

All 2012s with auto tranny have a large tranny cooler. No more overheated transmissions!

The WA580 is a fantastic automatic developed by Mercedes and first introduced in the mid-90s. It has a great reputation in the industry and is one of the only good things to come out of the brief "Merger of Equals."

The new auto is excellent! Easy to manually bump up or down a gear as well since I find that I have to push the pedal down too far before the tranny downshifts on its own which eats gas. Whenever I feel like I'm bogging I just manually bump down and then back up again. The new tranny is the best mechanical feature of the new Wrangler. They really should have put this tranny in the old 3.8 for the last year or two which would have brought that powertrain alive. I bought the auto because my soon to be wife can't drive stick and I don't regret it at all now.

I'm Jk

Both the older 6 speed and new auto have their issues- but, I'm sure you will be happy with either

4K miles on mine, it still feels staunch after 33" tires and 2.5-3" lift.
