Ouch, that looks worse than the saddle

Thanks for the pics of the black leather interior. I initially ordered it with the dark saddle not realizing it was a tan color. fortunitly i was able to change my order. I have ordered the 2012 unlimited rubicon in white and the tan interior just would not look as good as the all black leather interior. Will get delivery on 16 dec, cant wait!

Your opinion and you are entitled to it.

I am sure I did not endear myself to the Jeep owners with the cloth seats when I said I have seen more attractive seats in a tour bus.

Each to his own.

I love the look and can't wait to get mine in three weeks.

Trust me, it looks and feels great. It's not a super-plush leather b/c it wouldn't be durable being a Jeep and all, but it's very comfortable and looks great.

ditto...it looks great! i was planning on going the katzkin route or the black clothe but just ordered my white JKUR with the black leather as well. i think that leather is going to hold up well and be easy to clean. i was worried about dog hair sticking like a magnet to the cloth seats.

for what its worth, my '12 was built two weeks before Chrysler ok'd the black leather, so when it arrived the dealer installed black Katzskin leather, it doesn't have the jeep logo but the leather is thicker n way softer than the leather in the'10 I had!

I have black leather in my car and I would hate to sit on it if it were in a convertible. You can barely touch the parts that the sun has been hitting when it is sitting in a parking lot. You guys will have to go the old fashion route and carry towels along with you to drape over the seats

Finally had a chance to get my Katzkins
Installed today, Wow I wish the black leather was an option when I ordered my 12 JKU.
While I was doing the install I modified the front headrests, they are now straight
Instead of tilted forward
Also added webbing to the center of the rear seat since it lacked any support plus I
Made the rear seat lean back just a tad,
It felt like it was straight up.

Sorry to dark for pics when I finished up

While I had the rear seats apart I looked at what it would take to adjust the rear headrests. I didn't see a good way to adjust them since the bars are part of the
Ratchet system, but I did notice that if you hold the headrest down(folded) when you
Raise the back of the seat you could attach a strap to them and hold them folded back until you needed them for a rear passenger
You could remove the spring but I decided that strapping them down will work for me

Can someone post here (and Message me) what is the difference in "Leather Seats" and "Leather Trimmed Bucket Seats." These are clearly different options shown on the latest configurator, even if you configure on Jeep.com! I just ordered a 2012 and selected Leather Trimmed Bucket. Both are priced the same. Neither is Katskin, and both come with heated seats.

I was in there earlier myself it looked to me like one is for black/saddle and one was for black. I could be wrong but if you chose the first one it makes you go to the saddle the other does not. just a guess though...

Choosing "Leather Seats" requires the addition of the "Saddle seats/interior". Selecting "Leather Bucket Seats" does not. So, I wonder if that's how the distinguish between the saddle colored leather and the black leather. If that's the case, it's very vague.

EDIT: Somehow I missed Basejumpers post...yes, what he said.

Both options are "leather trimmed". Only the parts that your butt and back touch are leather. All the rest is vinyl.

So, those with black leather.....I know you probably got them late in the year...but how was it in the sun? (Especially those further south?)

As you can probably guess.....I'm having just a "twinge" of non-buyer remorse.

I looked at seat covers....but it seems like a shame to buy leather, only to spend another $150 to cover them up.

That is like buying a new house with hardwood floors, and putting carpet over them.

No one?

I'm still in contact with the dealer....who just emailed me (again) about a similar BFG Sahara that has tan interior....but did not have LSD.

Tan leather, no LSD
vs
Black leather with LSD

Black Forest Green is basically black.....so I'm thinking that black leather would be like sitting in a cast iron skillet in the summer....and in a dark cave in the winter (especially if I add dark grey or black hothead type liners).

But I've never had black leather before....so I don't really know.

Like I said before, I'm having a bit of "non-buyers" remorse....and as of right now, that BFG Sahara with black leather is still on the lot.

I'm basically trying to talk myself into black leather....but I'm having a really hard time doing so.

I can only speak from my car experience which is a black on black Infiniti G35 which I have had here in South Florida for the last 5 years. Does the black leather get hot if in the direct sun, ABSOLUTELY YES! Would it be a lot worse if my car was a convertible like the Jeep and I kept the top down, probably. Do I love black interiors, ABSOLUTELY YES! And I am getting it again with the Jeep I ordered, although not with leather in the middle of the seats as it is the COD Jeep which has some sort of fabric there.

I'm with Fishmd here. Had a 325i black w/ black leather and my Pontiac G8 has black leather and in Jersey our summers are brutal, 90's with high humidity. It IS ABSOLUTELY HOT but bareable. U get used to it and after a few mins with the AC ur fine.

I ordered my JKU Deep Cherry Red with the black leather and just got it a few days ago so I cant speak for that yet. BUT my YJ had grey vinyl and that was hot too with the top off. Nothing a bikini top couldnt take care of. I'll do the same with the JKU and maybe add some jeep towels if its too unbearable.

Thanks for the feedback...
Black Forest Green is already dark...Black Forest with black leather might be a bit too much to handle.

I originally wanted Sahara Tan or Winter Chill with saddle....I may just wait on that.
Winter Chill with saddle seems like it would be quite a bit cooler in the summer....but I could have BFG with black leather now.

Just took delivery of our deep cherry red Sahara with black leather in west Michigan. Never gets too hot here so should be ok. Looks awesome.

I really like the black leather with orange piping in the orange Jeep. My Jeep lives in NM at 7500+/- altitude, and I chose the saddle leather'ish seats for my Dozer JKR. The heat gain, even in winter, is massive for dark colored vehicles and interiors in that area. Also, if you're going to be wheeling much, I'd think the black would not be a good choice.

For Mall-Wheel Drive vehicles, black is great.

Careful there panthermark BFG with black leather is just right

Terex I agree black will be hotter than saddle but I don't think it would be unbearable and certainly looks better in my opinion

For a lot of color combos, you really have to see them in person to decide. I'm sure that's the way for BFG/Blk or saddle. At least the saddle color for the JK's is an OK brown. I had brown leather in my chili pepper red '98 Durango, and it looked sorta yellow. My wife has a nice chocolate brown leather interior in her white Chevy Equinox, and it looks sharp. A whole lot more classy than the black, in our opinion.

When we bought the JKR, we sold my wife's black Honda Accord Coupe with black leather interior. Even in NJ, it was unbearably hot during the summer months after sitting in the parking lot at work all day. Never again.

Fair enough! I work from home so mine either sits in the garage all day or at a hanger at the airport when i'm traveling

Panthermark that is a great looking Sahara love those wheels...but if you want saddle you should get it
