2012 Black Wrangler Sahara 18" Wheel Question

I have been searching the site and wanted to make sure I understood correctly. I ordered a 2012 Sahara 2 door and these come with 18" wheels. After doing some research it seems as though there aren't a lot of options for mud tires for this size wheel (as in none?). Is this correct? It seems a lot of people buy 17" rims or stick with the 17" factory Moabs because you can find a lot of tires that go on this wheel. Am I correct in this assumption? So if I want some cooler tires, I need to change wheels?

I basically ordered the Sahara because I saw a black 2 door Mojave and like the look with the mineral gray wheels and body color flares and hardtop. Wasn't so sure about how well the tan leather went with that look, but ordered it anyhow. So now I am thinking of getting the Mamba wheels (black) that look practically identical to the mineral gray Moabs and tires like those from the factory. I searched for the black Mamba that look similar to the Moabs but never found a picture of anyone's on here.

I am also considering a minor lift ... I kind of want it to look like there might be a bit of a lift, but where if you are looking at it you aren't quite sure. Would the 2" BB lift be a good option?

So I guess my questions are:

-- Am I correct at how limited tire options seem with the Sahara 18" wheels?

-- Does anyone have a pic of the black Mambas similar to the Moabs they would care to share?

-- Any opinions on getting a minor lift? Will the 2" BB be my best option? I do not want the lift to be very noticeable.

-- Anyone have an opinion about how the tan leather looks with the Mojave theme being mostly black and charcoal? For some reason my head tells me the Sahara logo won't look right with all the black and charcoal on the outside as well. Guess I could special order a gray Sahara logo or remove it entirely.

-- Any other opinions and input are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I went with 16" wheels and a 2" BB. And have since removed the deals. Hope this helps some.

First of all thanks to you two for replies. And thanks for the pics, they do help.

I would paint the Moabs black, but with the Sahara I do not get the Moab wheels so I would have to purchase them separately.

Yes you are liited in choices with 18" wheels and the tires cost more. It sounds to me like the Sport would have been a better choice for you.

I bought Nitto Terra Grapplers 265/70R18 . Those were pretty much the most aggressive tire i could fit on the stock sahara. There werent a lot of options for the 18inch rim. After i getta budget boost and spacers I hope to put something a little bigger and more aggressive on her.

+1 for jeep2007s choice. I spoke with DTO and am looking at this setup -
18x8.5 GFX OR9 +18mm offset / 285/65R18 Nitto Trail Grappler
I don't have a lift on my 09 Sahara and we've determined that this setup will fit.
As Tom points out, there are less choices on 18s, and the price is a bit higher (about $50 per wheel), but I like the way the 18s look - just want a better looking wheel and a bit more aggressive tire. The Bridgestone's that came on my stock Sahara work quite well, but I want something that has just a bit more bite to it for camping, hunting, and making new roads...
(DTO customer service ROCKS!)

If it's possible for you to modify or change your order before pick up you may want to do so. If you plan on changing out the tires for either a AT or MT then you will be hurting to buy them for 18" wheels. Not only in the wallet but also in the MPG department. Tires for bigger wheels cost more and are heavier 99% of the time than those for 15-17" wheels.

If you are planning a lift later for your Sahara, then just wait on getting bigger tires until then and ask the dealer to stick on a set of BFG KM1 MTs on 17" charcoal alloys (Jeep mountain edition wheels). If you like the look of this wheel then you can just upgrade to a bigger set of tires and keep the darker wheels later.
