2012 Freedom Panels Don't Match

I've got a 2012 hardtop JKU that I bought used a couple of months ago. The more I look at the freedom panels that came with my jeep, the more I think they're wrong or at least mismatched. Do the shapes of the freedom panels differ from year to year or model to model? In the first picture, you can see that the driver side pannel is curved and conforms nicely to the top of the A pillar, but the passenger side is much more square. I've also noticed there seems to be some black marks on the passanger side panel as if at one time there was a latch in that area, but now I see no way a latch could rub in that area with my current setup.

What's the forum's thoughts?

I have a '13 and those look the same. The latches are in the same place. Only suggestion for the mark you circled might be grease or dirt from someone handling the panel. That's pretty close to where I grab mine when I slide them into the Freedom Top storage bag. Have you tried to clean it off?

It's hard to tell from the 2nd picture, but the spot where the black mark appears is smooth and doesn't have the same texture that the rest of the panel has. It's like the panel was designed for the latch to rub right in that spot.

No, I haven't tried to clean it off as the fact that it's a little dirty doesn't bother me. What concerns me is that it appears at one time a latch was rubbing there. Maybe it's just a coincident that some grease got on that spot when I was handling the panel.

You definitely have a 2007-2009 panel on the right. You can tell just by the inset ribs. Look how different they are from left to right.

The 2007-2009 panels latched to themselves where the black mark is. Here's a '13 passenger side panel (you can see the edges are curved):

This shows the 2007-9 panel even better. You definitely have a mismatch.

I just went out and looked at mine again and you might be on to something. My right side panel is curved in the front corner, and unless I'm seeing things in your first picture, the indents running down the panel are different from the ones on the left. The left side has curves where the ridges meet the front and on the left side they're square and go all the way to the front.

Beat me to it and with photographic evidence to boot

Mine look the same

I was curious as well. I have a 2013 JKU and both sides are curved. They don't look like yours. My right side looks like your left side but in reverse and your left side looks like my left side. I think they are mis-matched.

It seems the consensus is that the dealership sold me a jeep with mismatched panels. Now what do I do? It's still under the 36k mile warranty, but my guess is, the dealership isn't going to be willing to fix this issue. Or do you think they're responsible to make this right?

Did you buy from a Jeep dealership? If so I'd take proof (use Blastek's pictures) to show them they're mismatched. They should have replacements on hand and I'd assume they'd want to make things right. Even if you didn't buy from a Jeep dealer I'd still complain. Least they could do would be to give you the $$ to buy the right panel.
