I've been averaging about 20.4 mpg with my stock Pentastar and I'm not real easy on it.

Just did another trip. 12JKU 3.73's with '13 Sahara wheels. TF leveling kit. 209 miles each way. 23 mpg westbound and 24 mpg eastbound. 60mph cruise control.

2012 Unlimited Rubicon with aftermarket bumpers, tire rack, 4 inch procomp lift, 315/70R17 tires, rails, and 4:10 gears, average is about 13.5. Best so far is 15.5 straight highway at 65.

2012 JK Sport 2 door. Used to get 19.5 city and 21 high way. After 10A wheels and tires swapped I get 17 city, but have to tried highway yet.

Stock '13 JKU Sahara w/3.21... Took a ride on the back country road at an easy pace and got 23mpg(US) (or 27mpg(imp) for us Canadian )

2012 JKU with 30k on it and I drive like Im driving miss daisy. Very easy on the gas and start and stops.
4.56 gears 6 speed manual and 32/11.50/16 tires. Airbags on all four coils witch gives me about 2'' of lift.
13mpg in town.
14 to 15mpg on the highway at 70mph.

I average around 19. I've broken 20 a few tanks. Lots of highway in my area, and I'm very easy on it.

13 jku lifted w/35" tires auto 3.73's. I try to drive it easy and at or below the speed limits I can get a honest 17.5 to 18.8 calculated at the pump. Mixed driving 60 % highway 40% city. If I run harder I lose about 1.5 mpg. Also drops off with bad weather rain, snow and wind. Been as bad as 15.5 a time or two. Fuel with winter blend screws with it too. Use to get 19 to 22 before mods with stock tires wheels. EVIC is generally .5 to .7 off reading for better mileage.

I'm averaging 20mpg the past month mostly highway some city and several lengthy trail runs... 6 speed with 3.73's leveling kit and 33" duratracs and aftermarket bumper

11.3 mpg!!!!!

2014 JKU/Auto/4.10. It has 350 miles all city but it seems I am averaging 11.3 miles. I been driving it very ECOway to see if it was only me going crazy but I feel there is something wrong. Short commute: https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=O...1,0&sz=17&z=14

2014 JKUR with 3.73's and 1700 miles. 14 mpg pulling a trailer with a 4 wheeler and a dual sport motorcycle on it. Getting a little under 17 driving to work, but mostly highway with only one stoplight to slow me down.

It's new - there are lots of threads about break in gas mileage and engine behavior. Give it some miles and see if it improves, city mileage is also worse than highway - if I reset my mpg and just drove city I would see a lot worse on average too.

Reset the EVIC and take it for a drive on the highway or backroad of at least 50 mph. Put some miles on it too, say 10 miles, and then check it again. Driving into a headwind will lower it too of course (brick aerodynamics).

Here's my gas mileage update -

Oklahoma - 100% gas, 87 octane -
I average 20 if I drive almost all highway miles in light traffic.
I average 17mpg if I'm not doing a lot of stop and go traffic, mostly highway, some city - most of the driving I do.
I average 15.8 city, with some highway, and stop and go.

We drove up to see family in Chicago about Labor Day, I had my trailer in tow to haul some furniture back.

Around town in Oklahoma I barely notice a drop in mileage for highway towing, in city maybe 1mpg. I don't tow enough to show a major decrease per tank.

Going to Chicago, we out first tank of Oklahoma fuel averaged about 16.5 of the highway, we had a few items in the trailer but nothing heavy.

As we progressed through MO and IL, the mileage dropped a little, we came into Chicago averaging 15mpg or so - outside of Oklahoma we could only find E10.

Driving around Chicago that week we also had 'Chicago gas', whatever they mix up and decide is fine. We had comparable driving to the low OKC average (I average 15.8 city, with some highway, and stop and go.) and the mileage was 14-15.5 in Chicago depending on how much highway (actually moving traffic) we did.

On the trip back the trailer numbers really show up though. I averaged the whole trip back and we got 13.8 mpg. The trailer wasn't fully loaded, but it had more weight on it, there was also a headwind coming back too.

Got back into OKC with E10 in the tank from Kansas still so I had to burn that off, noticed with my normal driving in OKC again I was still about 1.5-2+ mpg less running the E10.

Burned that off, got back to my 100% gas again and my average has been about 17mpg again.

What gets me is that all through these states with E10, especially Kansas, I noticed all these propaganda signs on the pumps - little wind energy icons, or green trees, and stuff about corn burns cleaner. Yet corn uses more energy to convert it to fuel than raw oil, and usually the plant making ethanol is running off electric it buys from a company that produces it with a coal burning plant. Then the numbers don't add up either, I was burning more fuel using E10 too, making me buy more gas.

My apples to apples comparison

My E10 upon returning to OKC vs. 100% gas in OKC -

$3.02 Enthanol vs. $3.19 100% gas (both current prices in OKC today)

15.5 mpg on ethanol - 17 mpg on 100%

155 miles - 170 miles - per 10 gallons

lost is 15 miles during that time using E10 - I'd need almost a gallon more to drive the 170 miles I got on 100%

Cost - $30.20 for E10 - $31.90 for 100% = $1.70 difference

If I bought the extra gallon (roughly) to get me to 170 miles, I spend more than the $1.70 difference I "saved" by buying the E10 to begin with.

^ This is what so many people don't look at. They look at the immediate savings at the pump," I saved $1.70 by buying the E10.", yet they don't calculate in the loss of mileage (most probably don't even think of it or keep track).

This doesn't even touch the issue that older cars can't handle the E10, and newer ones aren't exactly built for it either although most tolerate it.

If you look at what happened in Germany when they tried to begin E10 sales, it makes you think a little. People here bought into it and were forced into it in many areas, people there refused in many instances.

2012 Rubicon gas mileage

I have switched to synthetic oil, tried various brands and grades of gasoline, but the mileage has not varied much. When new I got about 16mpg average, now 18 months later I get 17 to 17.7 in normal driving. This is almost all city driving and I gues the mileage will improve somewhat over the next few months. I only use 87 octane gasoline now. It runs like a swiss watch, love it.

Had a 2012 JK sport, never saw 19 mpg and I commute 60 miles every day. Traded it in because they replaced the left head twice and I threw in the towel. Bought a 2013 Unlimited, mileage is about the same. Have experimented with different speeds, 55 mph thru 70 mph, cruise on, cruise off, still in the 18 mpg range. I noticed that the wife gets about the same. During the winter it runs in the high 16's. I did find that I get about .5 mpg improvement when I don't use the cruise control. I attribute that to the fact that I don't force the vehicle to maintain a preset speed when I go up hills. A lot of this depends on elevation, terrain and temperature of the area you live. Most Jeep JK owners in our local club get around the same. EPA says 18-21, we would all be on the low side. If designers tilt the windshield back, shed about 1,000 lbs, aero the hood and fenders, add a diesel, then maybe we'd see 40mpg, but then it'd be a Jetta not a Jeepa!

I see a lot of folks post mpg with larger tires, if they haven't reprogrammed the ECU the mileage will appear to have gone down since the tire revolutions are less. As an example, if you have the stock 16" tires and you throw on a set of 32's, the difference is about 8% or a little over 1 mpg. So if you haven't done the reprogramming you need to do the math.

I reprogrammed with a AEV Procal to reset everything after putting the 315/70 17 tires. The rig drove terrible prior to doing the program re-calibration, speedo was way off, transmission did not shift right and tpms was reset for lower pressures. Still very happy with the fuel mileage but our winter blend is in and I am down in the 17's now.

These are just about the same numbers i'm seeing on my 2013 JK with the 5 speed auto and 265/70/17 Duratracs. The JK has the aerodynamics of a brick so >65 mph on hiway really sucks gas.

13 Sport, 4.10s, 6spd, 305/70/17 Terra Grapplers. Last fill up got 15.8mpg, been averaging between 15-16mpg. Mostly rural and city driving, with some highway.
